Ideal location and enjoyable stay.

Made to feel very welcome and a lovely house. Very clean, warm and wonderful little touches in our room - nice toiletries, lovely bed linen, good selection of teas and delicious biscuits.

Excellent stay at Portland House on our stop over journey to the south.

On our arrival, we were welcomed by the host and treated to a lovely pot of tea and apple cinnamon cake (delicious). She showed us to our room and areas in the house where we could relax. She also told us about Woods deli just around the corner, where we could have breakfast. Ideal location, just off the A40 as a stop off point when travelling down the country.

Great hostess, very clean and tidy- I loved it!

Within 10 minutes of arriving I had a pot of tea and cake brought to me, a foot stall pulled out and a whole front room to chill and watch TV in! The room was very clean and I love how all the "extras" were great quality. For example the biscuits that were in a jar with the tea tray in my room were lovely quality shortbread biscuits. The toiletries in the bathroom were the same and way more than any hotel I've stayed in. Long story short- this was a great stay. I wish I came earlier though so I could enjoy the garden area. Next time I will.

Honestly, the only thing I didn't love was the fact we are so close to the main road so I had to shut the window to keep the noise out so I was really warm. But I booked knowing it was situated where it was and I'm sure it wouldn't bother other people. I would still stay here again 100% 😊

Nice stay in a great location!

Great location and lovely B&B. Lisa was very welcoming and helpful, giving us recommendations about local places to eat and where to go in Symonds Yat. The rooms are lovely and the bed was very comfy with an En Suite and kettle with tea, coffee and biscuits.

Superb, clean and great value for money

We were welcomed by Michael who was very helpful and full of information. The room was clean, comfortable and stacked with essentials and especially loved the cookies and biscuits. Highly recommend, and will definitely stay again.

Very enjoyable.

Nice home made cake and tea when we arrived in the afternoon. The Ferry Inn for an evening meal was excellent, best to drive to it unless you are fit for walk.

No breakfast not too important as a cafe was opposite.

the room was a good size and clean and comfortable The bed was large and comfortable The house was presented really well. Check out was not till 11 am which was a bonus

Really lovely peaceful stay - thank you so much!

Really peaceful and lovely stay. There is so much to do in the area if you have a car - amazing area of natural beauty and so much history. The hosts were so lovely and friendly whilst also very respectful of privacy and giving guests space. They gave us freshly baked rock cakes and biscuits which were delightful. The entire place was cosy and quaint as well as luxurious and grand. Had the most amazing time, thank you so much!

Excellent choice for a family of 7, we really felt at home

Cosy and spacious, only 3 rooms so we had the place to ourselves except for the owners who had their private quarters. Lisa is a master baker and made us some delicious biscuits and drinks on arrival. Although breakfast is not provided, you can make your own or use the excellent ‘Woodys’ a short walk away. Lovely for a family stay with a big garden for the kids to play in. Lisa was very friendly and informative, would definitely stay again when visiting beautiful Symonds Yat.

Facilities provided for our breakfast were excellent - everything that was needed and we brought in our own food. Lisa went out of her way to be helpful Enjoyed sitting out in the lovely garden under the shade

We were there to attend a wedding at Symond's Yat W. so the house was very conveniently situated.

Breakfast not provided but shop/cafe next door was sufficient. Made most welcome on arrival with tea and cake provided. Everything on hand for making hot drinks in room, which was very clean and comfortable.

The room exceeded our expectations so very little if anything needed for improvement.

Comfortable, homely, great location, incredible hosts!

The house is exquisite! Inside and out. There is a perfect balance of family/homely comfort mixed with Georgian decor. Lisa and Michael made us feel so at home and welcome in their beautiful house. Had a few conversations with Lisa and she was the kindest, warmest host! She was so sweet to gift us a bottle of Prosecco as it was my partner’s birthday :)

I visited with my daughter, as she was kayaking at Symonds Yat. Lisa (the owner) was lovely - very friendly and accommodating. Communication was great, and the property was in a perfect location, next to a village shop. Room was very comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay and would be very happy to come back.

Welcoming, comfortable and charming.

My colleague and I were looking for somewhere quiet and convenient, and Portland House was brilliant. Our host, Lisa, was really transparent that it was very near the A40, but with the double glazing, I didn't hear a thing, and I am usually sensitive to noise. I really appreciated her integrity, and I can honestly say it was not the slightest problem The house is full of quirky charm, and small thoughtful touches. It was very comfortable, with a lovely garden out the back, and an unexpectedly charming small store/cafe less than five minutes walk away where we could get a take away meal and a great breakfast the next morning. We agreed that we would definitely come again - it really felt like a home away from home and we were made to feel incredibly welcome. (The cup of tea and slice of apple cake when we arrived was top notch too!)

The house is very nice and warm in winter, which is always a good thing in the colder months. It's also very quiet and peaceful despite being close to a main road you can't hear a thing. Michael and Lisa are very welcoming and friendly. Coffee, tea, and hot drinks are available in the room.
