The Riverside Hotel

Excellent full English breakfast served. Helpful reception staff. Easy access off road car parking at back of hotel. Short walk over the ancient Monmow bridge into town.

Layout of the twin beds made it awkward to negotiate a path to the bathroom.

Burnt fingers on the hot tap, no handle to shut window in room 12 and no spoons. Had to use a bic pen.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Hotel was only a short walk from Town centre.

Carpets were worn and had to negotiate multiple corridors, doors and stairs to find our room.

We think every bathroom fan vented out past our bedroom so continually noisy all night. Don’t enjoy walking through the smokers on our way in and out.

Furniture dated, beds too soft ( nearly rolled out of bed on several occasions during the night) extension lead trailing across room for tv, had to unplug tv to use kettle. Cobwebs above bed, build up of dirt on floor behind bathroom door, long black hairs on bathroom floor ( I am bald) so definitely not mine! Strange smell emanating from bathroom, similar to part digested cabbage and Brussels all night, again not me! had to get up and open window( which the catch was broken)

Friendly welcome with local information given. Modernised bathroom. Parking behind the hotel and a council car park opposite. Short and easy walk into the town, with plenty of good shops and restaurants.

The room was clean but very basic, suitable only for a no frills overnight stay. The bedroom smelt slightly smoky, broadly coming up from the ground floor which was very smoky. The room allocated was over the public bar with loud voices and live music coming up until midnight (it was a Saturday).

It’s an old hotel, located on a fairly busy road, but the rooms were quiet and surprisingly comfortable. Breakfast was good with lots of variety, and the staff went way out of its way to be helpful.

Tv reception very poor

Brilliantly located within close proximity of the town. They provided secure locked storage for our bicycles. The accommodation was warm, comfortable & spotlessly clean. Every interaction I had with the staff from pre booking to our stay was simply brilliant. Very client centric. I can’t speak highly enough of the team. It’s very rare to experience such brilliant service and for the price great value for money. Thank you everyone.

Quiet location on edge of town close to the old bridge with short walk to town centre shops and restaurants. Sheltered parking for motorbike at rear. Good breakfast.

Perfectly situated, just off the A40 at Monmouth. This was our third stay here as it's on the way back when we've visited family. We like the ample parking. Nothing too much trouble for the staff. Comfortable bar and lounge. They don't serve food in the evening but told us we could bring food in from outside. We were offered plates and cutlery for the hot food we brought in. Breakfast was wonderful, served piping hot on very hot plates. Large room and bathroom with a good powerful shower and plenty tea, coffee and biscuits in the room. Coat hooks on the back of the door, full-length mirror, hairdryer, with iron and ironing board available in the landing. Comfortable bed and ample wardrobe space.

tea and coffee was the best thing .The room had a tv but no remote and could not find the manual side of things .Went down to reception and all they could say is that they do not have a remote .The windows you could not shut due to the noise and the weather was hot and a fan was in the room which sounded like lawnmower .So little or no sleep .The location was the best thing .The one thing that stuck in mind was seeing 3 mattress in the hall way which were later moved into the breakfast room carpack entrance BUT THESE MATRESS WERE VERY VERY HEAVY SOILED AND LOOKED LIKE LOADS OF GUEST HAD WET THE BED .

For a start do what you advertised ie working tv .Security wise doors not very secure anyone with a bit of plastic card can open the doors and get in .Not safe for a single lady ..Store electrical equpt

Comprehensive breakfast selection with generous servings,well cooked, and pleasantly served in a lovely airy and light dining room. Comfy beds, handy private parking, and only a couple of minutes walk from the Monnow Bridge and the oldie worldie shops.

Parking off road. Staff really helpful and assisted in storing our pedal cycles while we were there. Easy access into the town from the property.

Plenty of on site free parking,a smart TV in a decent location a few minutes walk into the main town centre.

Perhaps it could do with a little upgrade....however, we've stayed before and will definitely be staying again, and I guess that's the best endorsement. 👌

Staff were lovely and the location was great.

The room was older than shown on pictures and not up to standard described. The 'double bed' was in fact 2 single beds pushed together, with one mattress significantly damaged on one side leading to a wonky nights sleep. There were holes in pillowcases and blood stains on the bedding.

Bed was falling apart basically, some plug sockets didnt work and we had a visit from a rat that started eating poppadoms we left in the bathroom. Which entered and escaped through an opening behind the bathroom sink 🤣

Excellent location for accessing Monmouth centre, which is a short walk away over the Monnow Gate bridge. The staff were very helpful and found us a secure place for keeping our tandem overnight. Room was comfy. All round excellent for an overnight stop.
