I love this place

I just love coming back here each year, I was only sad to stay the one night this time due to a family funeral but the owner always makes you feel welcome, the bedroom is perfect for what I need, clean and everything you need, kettle, tea coffee, towels etc...and I will be back again for a longer stay next time.

Could do either a larger towel :-)

Great value stay

Hotel has clearly stepped down from its former self but offered excellent value. Although the hotel didn't offer an evening meal, receptionist provided options (the nearby Belfry Hotel, or take-aways).

Wi-fi was non-existent in the room (over the archway so quite remote from the body of the hotel). However, the welcome pack referred to wi-fi being available in the public areas of the hotel and this was indeed true. No breakfast provided (although that wasn't a problem as none was advertised, and my required early start would have meant missing it anyway).

Comfortable and convenient

The room was lovely and clean, the bed was comfortable and the staff very friendly. The car park had plenty of spaces and seemed safe as it was off the road. The price was fair I'd recommend the hotel and stay there again

The heater was boiling and right next to the bed so I had to turn it off, the bathroom had mould on the ceiling and the shower ran hot and cold and didn't become consistent at all

Lovely hotel but room was cold

We have always liked the hotel. Great staff and warm welcome. Good view.

The room was situated over the car park entrance. The room was so cold I slept in my sweater. I should have for more blankets. My fault. But other future guests may need to bring warm pyjamas! Or the hotel could offer warmer bed linen/ blankets.

Cosy and friendly hotel in a good location

There was no food available on site but the bar area was very nice and the staff we saw all seemed friendly. Everything was clean and met expectations

The room was quite hot with no obvious way of turning the heating down (in November) and it was a shame they didn’t do food as the dining area looked really nice.

Warm, cosy and great value for money. Free car parking on site.

I made a late booking on Sunday evening, wanting somewhere warm and cosy to rest. The owner was incredibly friendly and helpful, and the single room was very warm and cosy and had everything I needed. I was at the back of the hotel and had a lovely view and was able to enjoy some time outside in the morning before I left. Great value for money.

Some outside areas need some attention, yet I imagine that is on the owner's to do list. I believe they may have only bought the property fairly recently.

Great value budget accommodation.

Great budget accommodation on the edge if the forest. Bed was a little soft but clean, hot shower, kettle and the rooms were nice and warm. Staff and owner great. Best bar for miles downstairs. Will certainly be revisiting.

Great value for money - Served a purpose.

Value for money - needed 1 bed for one night - room was small but fit for purpose and my needs.

Strange noises from pipes and whooshing water sounds. The hotel does not serve any food and there are not many amenities near by.

The staff were really accommodating, we needed Access a little bit earlier which they facilitated. Accommodation wise the beds are really comfortable. The bed linen is top notch. And had a really great sleep.

The hotel is antiquated, but it's warm ,very clean staff are very friendly. It's great value. Plenty of parking spaces. We really enjoyed our stay

Ideal base for forest of dean biking trip with our large group! Clean, comfy rooms with ensuite were great and a lively bar downstairs was welcome after a day's biking.

No food served on site but there is a pub two mins away by foot so not an issue! Low beams in corridor easy to smack head on if not careful

We had a wonderful stay at Littledean House Hotel, The room was clean, comfortable and provided with all the required essentials. It was easy to check-in and the host Mr. Sandeep was really friendly and helpful. The bar downstairs is a good place for quick relief with beer.

Spacious room, generous with bottled water and toiletries, car parking very close, freedom to come and go at any time.

Trouble getting water in shower the right temperature until I learned not to flush the toilet beforehand! Room was very warm so heavy duvets were too hot on this occasion. Only one staff member running hotel and bar so not always available. Looked like there were dining facilities but no breakfast served.

Great location, friendly, helpful staff, just not the most comfortable.

We really liked the location of the hotel. It was minutes to get to all the places we wanted to get to in the Forest of Dean. The staff were helpful and friendly and the bar serves great beer. The beer garden is really nice. In lots of ways, the hands off approach was no fuss and easy. We had everything that we needed. The housekeeping team replenished stocks for the room on a daily basis, which was most welcome.

The bed wasn't the most comfortable, with quite a dip just where you need support on the hip and side. The room had very little space to hang things up. Literally 2 hangers on the wall, which didn't accommodate much more than my husbands coat and shirt. The drawer space was ample, but hanging space would be more useful. There were few places to hang towels too. One hook had obviously broken at some point in the past and never replaced, in the bathroom. Another small issue was muisc in the bar area carried into the room a lot. I guess we had the room most likely to be affected, being right above it. On sitting in the bar it didn't seem that loud, but it did carry up through the ceiling to our room quite badly.

Beautiful area. Ample parking. Friendly staff. Historic building with some beautiful features. Clean room. Confortable (twin) beds. Tea/coffee provided. Lovely views. Very quiet.

The hotel does not offer food nor breakfast at the moment (August 2025) - only drinks from the bar in the evening. Very steep stairs within the room itself - not suitable for everyone. Temperamental wi-fi in the room.
