La Casona Beach House

The downstairs living space and the outside patio area were really appreciated. Although there is no air conditioning (downstairs) the large ceiling fans did a good job. The large sofa was great to chill on. It was just a very pleasant, contemporary space to be in. It's a whole block wide if you include the patio area and has high ceilings inside. The air conditioning in the bedrooms was an absolute necessity and the (double) bed was very comfortable (can't speak for the single beds). The showers were nice. The area is largely residential and quiet at night. It felt very safe to me although we never returned late. There are plenty of nice cafes and restaurants in close proximity and an excellent Mercadona supermarket a few blocks away. The beach is 10 minutes walk. The owner kindly let us leave our bags in the property before checking in time and recommended an excellent local restaurant. Beach towels much appreciated.

The upstairs toilets are partitioned areas within the bedrooms with no doors. The whole upstairs area is very quirky with perhaps 10 steep steps down to the double bedroom at the back of the property (which also has no door and therefore means there's no door between the toilet and the rest of the house (which sounds worse than it is as it's a large house). I really didn't like the downstairs book shelf which projects into a passing area and could easily be walked into. We stuck a chair under it to remind us. I thought the property could do with a little maintenance especially downstairs toilet. A nail had worked itself loose from the upstairs wooden floor and my wife was lucky to just graze it. This happened right at the beginning and there were no other occurrences (I managed to pull it out). There is a little terrace on the top floor at the back which is reached by means of a small step-ladder. Not one to try after a few drinks. It's really hard to keep the upstairs area cool. I would have liked more glasses and cups to avoid putting the dishwasher on for small loads.

Superbe maison, proche de la plage, avec un chauffage au sol ce qui est rare en Espagne mais si confortable ! La maison est bien équipée pour les enfants, spacieuse et vraiment agréable. Et il y a les transports en commun à quelques minutes à pieds.
