A little slice of heaven.
Our stay at Caol Gleann Lodge ,took a rather unexpected turn...
Upon and arriving at the lodge,we were thoroughly impressed with the homely/welcoming vibe.A bottle of wine awaited us on our arrival, a very unexpected and very nice touch !
After checking the rooms out, reading the simple yet informative info pack, first order of business was a cup of tea !
I noticed the water pressure wasn't great, but didnt think too much of it ,I figured it may be due to location as it's a further into the wilderness that other places I've stayed.
Whilst going for a shower I noticed the water pressure again wasn't great, but on this occasion I wondered if there was something I may have missed in the welcome pack that could have explained this issue.
I thought it best to reach out to the host and ask the question.
I then noticed communication from the host informing us of a burst water pipe in the area, detailing what had happened, the work being carried out and the giving timescale for the fix.
The issue wasnt resolved until later the following evening.
In the time that had past from the issue occurring, until it had be resolved I received strong /informative updates ,water was delivered to us and apologies were offered.
The burst water pipe was an issue that had affected the whole area, and an issue that was completely outwith the hosts control. All they could do by way of damage limitation for us was keep us posted and still try their best by any means to ensure our stay was as relaxing ,stress free and enjoyable as possible.
And it absolutely was !
Showing an exemplary approach to customer service and crisis management, the hosts put our mind at ease whilst offering solutions in a situation outwith their control that if not handled correctly could have resulted in an very unpleasant stay, and it was far from that.
Our stay at Caol Glenn Lodge set the benchmark on many levels, some expected, some completely unforseen.
There was only one part of our stay i didnt like, that was the part when we closed the door, put the keys back in the lock box and had to say goodbye as our time was at an end.

Felt very comfortable and relaxed staying at the lodge. It’s even better in person than the pictures. Very clean everyth
Absolutely fantastic lodge to stay
It’s got everything you need to relax and enjoy the fabulous Loch Lomond.

Great location for relaxation
Lovely location, not much to do except walks and watersports but its peaceful. Handy having the hotel and shop nearby. The cabin itself is large and we were grateful to the electric heater as it was cool at times. Parking at the back of the cabin which was handy.
Some areas weren't very clean on arrival which was disappointing. The access to the utility room is high up, needs a step ideally. Quite worn in places including the draw under the oven missing.

Fantastic lodge and beautiful location
The location was amazing
Interior was clean and modern with everything we needed.
Host was great at communicating
Over night with heavy rain two of the bedrooms had leaks in the guttering so was very loud. Also the downpipes are positioned outside the same two bedroom window so you heard water running all night.
Apart from disturbed sleep if it happened to rain it was perfect

We wanted a relaxing break and we got memories to last a lifetime.
The area and the lodge itself was as close to perfection as you can get for a weekend break to relax and spend time with family. The patio with a BBQ was another lovely touch and everything we asked for in terms of a cot and a spare corkscrew was sorted with zero fuss.
The lodge had everything and the beach with a jetty and slide for kids was also amazing.
We will be back every year after this amazing stay.
Nothing was bad at all.

A perfect place for just about anything you want to do from just lazing around to mountain climbing!
Location, absolutely superb. Lodge was lovely and clean and smelled fresh and welcoming. Instructions for heating and all remotes were all easy to find/understand. Heating was super efficient when needed. Even a welcoming bottle of wine!
Bath towels had been used on the grass and not cleaned off afterwards unfortunately. Restaurant menu flyers need binning, they were literally years out of date! The bins in the utility room could do with info about what goes in each.

Slice of heaven
This lovely, cosy lodge is right on the Loch and at the foot of Ben Lomond (a popular hiking mountain). Stunning setting on the quiet side of the Loch. The lodge was clean and comfortable with all the stuff we needed provided. There was a double room, a twin and another room with bunk beds. Perfect for our family of four. We hope to be back.

Highly recommend Coal Gleann Lodge for a lovely getaway!
Couldn’t recommend Coal Gleann Lodge enough! Very cosy and clean place surrounded by amazing scenery. Will definitely think about coming back later on in the future.
The double bed was a little bit uncomfortable due to a hard mattress but nothing major! That’s the only con I found about the property, other than that everything else was spot on!

what a wonderful relaxed break. The lodge was fantastic and very welcoming 😀 loved my bottle of wine left as a welcome:). My husband and our complex needs children need a lot of space as well as our dogs and we never felt squashed as they say lol. swimming, jumping of the pier! loads of memories made thank you. x
Some of the owners in other lodges with dogs roaming free...not wee welcoming dogs either.... but apart from that absolutely nothing highly recommended

Location and parking
IMO, you can't rely on reviews found on this website. Recently I rented 2 expensive properties through booking.com that were rated "excellent" and "wonderful" and found them to be substandard by any reasonable measure. I booked Caol Gleann Lodge because it was supposed to be "wonderful" and "very clean" with amenities like a washing machine and barbeque. Here is what we got: 1) cigarette butts on the patio deck, 2) cheap BBQ grill that is junk and should be replaced (the listing did not specify charcoal BBQ and after arrival I was told I needed to bring my own briquets - many nearby lodges had propane grills or new charcoal grills with BBQ utensils), 3) dirty oven with greasy dirty oven pans (I refused to use them), 4) stovetop pans that were dirty and greasy and needed to be thoroughly scrubbed before use, 5) a washing machine in an outside utility room that smelled musty and moldy and that was cluttered, 6) patio entry door and bathroom door that are out of plumb and need to be lifted to close, 7) a bathtub drain that backs up with whatever is growing in there leaving us to shower in ankle deep water (heaven forbid I consider a bath), and 8) TV reception that randomly freezes and restarts. Other reviewers commented on the furniture so I won't belabor the point. The location is okay, except there are 20+ similar lodges in this park that sometimes have barking dogs, loud gatherings, etc. For what I paid, this rental was disappointing. Beware.

Rural
Incredible location on the beach, at the bottom of Ben Lomond, on the loch and watersports hire. All whilst feeling very remote and away from it all. A very lovely lodge cute, comfy sofa, had everything you needed and a gated decking great for dogs and little children,
None of these are due to the property really. Tips: Plan ahead for the midges and buy midge spray. It was 26 degrees and we couldn’t cool down - we count ourselves as lucky and imagine May half term in Scotland with this temp is a blessing!

Fantastic accommodation with excellent facilities and surrounded by spectacular views
We enjoyed a wonderful 4 night stay at Caol Gleann Lodge. The location was a perfect base for exploring the beautiful surroundings and then the cabin itself was super cosy with great facilities and had everything you could need for a relaxing evening after being out all day. the park it’s situated on has a private beach area with access to the loch. there’s also a pub within walking distance if you fancy a pint out. we thoroughly enjoyed our mini break and look forward to returning again.

Beautiful lodge in a lovely place with daily sightings of a Pine Marten
Being able to go for lovely walks straight from the door was brilliant. Walking both north and south on the West Highland Way and also to the top of Ben Lomond. There is a lovely cake and drink stand at the start/finish of the Ptarmigan trail (Ben's Bakes). And the best thing - seeing a Pine Marten daily running across the deck (we think its living in the cupboard by the patio doors).

Simply stunning
A fantastic, warm, comfortable hideaway perfect for our honeymoon.
Right on the banks of the loch and very close to Ben Lomond.
Storm Arwen was awful. So that we were able to make the trip, our hosts arranged for a hotel in Balmaha until power was restored to the lodge. Couldn’t thank them enough for this.
The hosts made a great fuss of us and treated us to a bottle of fizz to help us celebrate our wedding. Thank you.
