Our experience was not good. Due to a number of issues especially when my partner is pregnant.

The property wasn’t the original property I had booked and paid for. I wasn’t notified that the property we had booked had been changed to a different property until arrival over the phone when I called the emergency number. Because I couldn’t get access into the property we had booked. There was no email sent to tell me this. My partner is pregnant and this did not suit us. There was no heating and the electric cooker kept cutting off. There was electric fires but did not work. I had got a contact number from the notice on the reception door. I had text the woman that I had spoken to earlier about the property when it had been changed to the different one. Also with regards to this but she did not reply back about the heating either. We were left without heating. my text were read and not replied too. not professional at all.

I had to use crutches during my stay and there isn’t a very good path to the entrance of the property or path to hot tub . Not a huge issue but only thing I could think of for improvement.

Good lodge & location but reception process should be better.

Location & facilities were good and very good for a quiet break

When we arrived at the notified time, there was no one at reception. There was no information or advice what to do and we had to try to find out how to get in contact with the renter. When we did manage to get a hold of the guy, he advised that he was ill and unable to attend. He did advise how to get into the lodge but it did take some time to make contact.

The room was lovely and clean. Great area.

When we first arrived there was nobody available for check in at 3pm. Us and other guests tried to phone but there was no response. We didn't have the key for the room or a code for the lock box. Another guest had to help us get access to our room, which we are thankful for because without their help, we don't know what we would've done . The hot tub didn't work. The screen was completely blank and the water was cold. All switches were on, but, the tub did not work. The phone calls and emails we made to get help were not answered. We consistently went to reception and nobody was there. There was supposed to be someone there from 3pm-5pm Monday to Sunday. We tried to make dinner but the oven didn't work. There was still no contact with the property owner. We had to phone family for help. We needed to turn off all appliances and unplug all the sockets so that we could turn on the cooker, so we could eat dinner. We still haven't had any contact from the owner. Booking.com has tried on our behalf to get a response but no agreement was made. What was supposed to be a relaxing Christmas present hot tub weekend, turned out to be more hassle than it was worth. We paid for a hot tub and that's no what we got. If there was contact with the property owner who knows maybe it would have been resolved. It's a shame because the property was lovely but AVOID.

Room was let out with known issues like a broken lock on an external doors

It's not worth the money, and the room wasn't fit for purpose. We booked to stay for two nights, but had to leave after one: - The lock on the balcony door was broken, so the room (and valuables inside) couldn't be secured. - The exposed boiler in the room was really noisy (consistent loud hum and clicking noise) even when the heaters were turned to 0, so we couldn't sleep with it. The woman on duty already knew the lock was broken, and didn't seem surprised when I listed the boiler as one of the reasons why we left early. We had to stay the first night, because we didn't have a choice by the time we found out about the broken lock and loud boiler.

Not a great start

Check in was a disaster, email advised to collect keys from reception, reception was closed, queue to check in & people frantic trying to get into lodges, not advised your booking gives you a PIN code for a lock box on the lodge to enter, everyone booked with booking.com was given incorrect PIN numbers, called emergency number and only a voicemail service, no one called me back, stuck out in the freezing cold with a 2yr old, thankfully found a cleaner on site who told everyone the correct PIN codes to get in, put us off returning it was chaotic amd no communication advising the procedures, left to get on with it and figure it out by notes on reception door for later check ins.

Amazing location, lodges were spotless, spacious and well equipped. Staff very friendly and helpful (they even got us a Christmas tree for our lodge).

The place looks run down, my lodge was dated kitchen tap loose. Hot tub area very uninviting lid was broken I see from a previous review from a customer the same problem same lodge still hasn't been sorted months later. Go out at night very little lighting on way back to lodge. Could go on but what's the point the owners need to look at these reviews it will eventually effect their business.

Extremely disappointing and ruined with attitude of the site manager we had met.

Lovely and clean, spacious and well maintained

No communication to say our lodge was not available due to central heating boiler fault. So after taking all our belongings from the cars the key code wouldn’t work. Not what you want after a 6 hour drive. I eventually found the reception hut, to be greeted by a rude uninterested man, who completely lacks any people skills and a lovely helpful lady. She explained our lodge was not going to be available and offered an alternative lodge with a slight upgrade that also included a hot tub. The lady showed around and all was well. She showed how to operate the hot tub and commented we would welcome that late evening to relax in as we are professional touring musicians performing at a nearby theatre later on the day we arrived. She said well enjoy I’m sure you will love it. We later performed at the theatre and returned at around 12:10. Now very tired and warn out we simply wanted to relax and unwind quietly and reflect on the evening performance. We therefore decided to use the hot tub as previously suggested. We had been in less than 5 mins and the earlier man we had met at reception can bursting into our private hot tub area shouting and being aggressive in tone yelling get out now, come on all of you get out NOW, you’re not using this late at night and shouting further. Then he stormed off. This completely ruined our evening and break. This man has zero people skills, he is rude, miserable and obnoxious. There was no notice not to use the hot tub and we even discussed with the lady who showed us around. We had previously looked at booking a week there next year. Never going to happen!

It was good and we enjoyed our time there and will still go back again as the location is fabulous.

Lodge was just enough for what we expected in terms of size. Everything was there for what we needed. Self catering so had all the expected utilities.

No hot water in either the kitchen or bathroom sinks which as it was very cold stopped us from being able to do everything we wanted to. The hot tub was noisy in a strange background noise way and we couldn't lock both doors (still not convinced that it wasn't just us though and only really wanted to lock up after the staff were finished for the day so our fault for not asking).

Not worth the money

The code we were sent was not for the key lock, no one was in the office (said they'd be there until 5pm, we were there at 3) the phone number rang in the empty office. Thankfully a property manager showed up and told us how to get in. Second night the hot tub was cold! And would not turn on for anything. Not worth the money, stay in the old oak in across the street!

Like the peace and quiet the property offers, added bonus having the hot tub. Very cosy inside which we loved.

no car parking space (car park was full, no allocated space for the lodge we had booked) unclean - dog hairs EVERYWHERE (pet free lodge booked) heating not adequate (no heating in bedrooms or bathrooms) so nowhere to dry wet towels/swim costumes no hot water TVs in bedrooms didn’t work Pieces from the hot tub were coming loose and floating around in the water and the area around the hot tub was extremely unappealing we arrived at 5.45 and left at 9.30 - no staff on site.

The location was good

The carpet in the hall by the bathroom was soaking wet. The downstairs bathroom shower leaked. The hot tub was in what can be described as a bin store. The door to it didn’t shut so had to be propped with a chair. The whole property was tired and dated for the money paid. The reception was a messy shed. There is an unfinished building on the way in and the road surface was very rough. Warden was creepy and kept peeping out the window. I don’t normally write reviews and I’m not a fussy person but I don’t want someone else to waste their money on this property. We stayed in Mallard.

It was not very nice. The decor was cheap and tired, everything had a slightly shabby (without the chic) grubby feel. The bed was very small, it was cold, the shower doesn’t drain properly so your feet end up soaking in dirty water, there was no soap in the dispenser and the shower head was disgusting, a random hole in the wall near the toilet, and the ‘hot’ tub was merely warm. But worst of all was the two members of staff. They were so rude. I phoned to ask if we could check in early as we were getting dropped off at 2.30 and the weather was awful - they said no (fair enough) and suggested we wait at the nearby coffee shop - which we did. We made our way back to reception for 3 and were told that we couldn’t check in until 3.15. I asked why didn’t they let us know that when we phoned - they said we should go to the coffee shop and wait. I obviously said we’ve just come from there and don’t want to go back, especially as the weather was so bad and we had heavy bags - I asked if we could just wait in reception until our room was ready. They said no! So we had to walk away in quite scary wind and basically hang around getting cold and wet. I have never experienced such rudeness - I guess they don’t think they need to treat paying guests well as they have a prime location so they will always get bookings on this basis. I paid £160 for one night for my friend and I as a birthday gift and just felt conned.

Location was good, our lodge had an enclosed garden for our dogs to have room to stretch their legs. The bed was extra large and very comfy. There were plenty of towels and pillows. The site was very quiet at night.

Our lodge (woodpecker) was in need of repairs and the lady from housekeeping we spoke to when checking out told us they’d be updating lodges over the winter, until then we wouldn’t come back to be honest, here’s a list of issues we faced: - there were about 5 heaters and only one worked. - the hot tub was far too hot and we couldn’t change the temperature due to there being no display working. - 10pm hot tub curfew seemed a little unreasonable, maybe 12am would be more reasonable whilst most people are there on holiday. - the bathroom was really poor, the lino was ripped and bubbling up, everything looked grubby despite it being clean. When using the shower the entire bathroom would flood. This really put me off. - considering the price, some complimentary tea and coffee would have been nice - our dog found an ‘adult toy’ under one of the cabinets… a bit icky!

Good location, hot tub was really good, and Claire was nice

The mattress was very uncomfortable and thin, you feel the springs, the shower flooded, the cutlery in the kitchen was dirty, the toilet was not clean and had a hole in the wall which was filled in with toilet paper. Empty jars of sugar, coffee and tea, the lodges are not properly sound proof as you can hear everything as we heard downstairs until 3am. The curtains did not fully close. The price we paid for one night was definitely not worth what we got.

Spacious property in very clean condition with two showers & bathrooms, comfortable clean beds, plenty of towels for hot tub use, dishwasher tabs & washing up liquid in property, equipped with dishes, cutlery and everything you need.

Grounds could do with better maintenance, fences and outside of lodges could do with a paint, Hot tubs in good working order but a bit tired and same with garden furniture.
