Be weary on Booking.com

Nice hotel.

When I booked through Booking.com it said “free” parking but when I checked in, I had to pay £10 parking. Booking.com was VERY misleading as past bookings have meant “free” parking. You have to go into the hotels page to see the sneaky additional charge. If it wasn’t for this, would’ve given them a higher score. Not sure who is at fault, Booking.com or hotel but will definitely be careful when booking next time!!

Pillows were lumpy and hard Wanted a meal in the restaurant with a glass of wine but don’t sell wine by the glass only the bottle can not drink a bottle of wine like that had to leave eat elsewhere

Convenient location with parking, shower badly needs updating.

Central location, staff were helpful and friendly and parking was available.

The shower head sprayed water out over the top of the shower making the door and floor soaking wet. It was also an effort to actually turn the shower dial on. The pillows were completely flat making for very uncomfortable nights.

Seems to be run on a shoestring. No bottled water, biscuits in the room. Room was very dated. First night the net curtain and pole fell from the window. On Saturday, room wasn't cleaned till 4.00pm, and on Sunday it wasn't cleaned at all!! I had to ask reception for towels, and toilet roll. Not really what I expected

The location is wonderful, but the hotel needs improvements asap

Stayed there 4 years ago and nothing changed or improved, single glazed windows and you can hear anything from outside, bathroom is awful, not very clean either, poor variety on the breakfast and they coffee, OMG, cheapest instant coffee ever and could not even enjoy it. Would really love to see some improvements. Until then, will stick to aribnb stays.

Nice hotel, great pool, watch out for the car park charge

The Christmas decorations made the place feel grand and welcoming. We really enjoyed the pool too.

When we arrived we paid the dog room fee- which we were aware of. But then we were also charged £10 a night to have our car in their (rather empty) car park, which I thought was a bit cheeky- they also pointed out that this was only applicable because we had booked through booking.com and that if we had booked with them directly then we wouldn’t be charged for the car park, and that it was booking.com’s fault we weren’t aware of this charge. Which if I’m honest didn’t really sit right with me.

Disappointing and poor value for money.

Well situated, close to the castle area and marina. Parking was good. Staff were helpful and friendly.

Drab when you walk in, dark and spartan. Lots of lovely brass wall plaques and banisters but they all looked like they needed a good clean. Diet on the carpet outside our room that took 2 days to clean up. Paint was chipped off the door to our suite. Very poor internet, made watching a film impossible. Despite booking a top suite there were no bathrobes provided to use the spa. Spa area was nice but showers were abysmal as were the hairdryers. Could be done better.

Lovely again!

The pool is great, the reception staff are fantastic. One remembered us from our last visit. She is always very friendly and willing to help. The room is a fantastic size. This hotel actually listens to feedback too. They have improved the yogurts after I fed back that they had declined in quality and I really enjoyed them this time. Thank you!

I knocked off one mark as it was very hot in the room. The air con was great but too noisy for night time. However, in the summer months this room may be a good choice, as I couldn’t see air con units outside any other room window.

Centrally located within walking distance of town centre. Large number of bedrooms so can accommodate large group travelling together.

Convenient and comfortable

Great location central to town. Plenty of parking. Lovely decor in the public areas. Water was lovely and hot in the bathrooms, beds were comfy and the room was a great temperature. Breakfast was very tasty, basic hotel breakfast done well with polite attentive staff providing tea and coffee and clearing plates quickly. The toast machine settings were perfect 👌 Easy check in and reception staff were helpful. Bedroom was clean and plenty of towels were provided. Tea and coffee including biscuits in the room. Swimming pool looked clean and tidy but we didn’t use it.

Obviously requires some updating in the bedrooms. Decor was just a bit tired, old style wardrobes and desk units, dated tiles in the bathroom but all very functional. No air con, which didn’t prove a problem for us as it was autumn and quite chilly. Radiator controls were great but I can imagine on a warm day it could be quite stuffy in there despite the window opening, it wasn’t possible to prop it open at all so it just kept closing as it was a sash window. The worst part about the room we had was a nearby door was slamming every couple of minutes. We think it may have been downstairs to do with the kitchens perhaps as we were near that area but on the first floor and the banging started very early in the morning around 6am. It had been happening late in the evening too but didn’t really bother us as we were up anyway but being woken on a Saturday that early was a bit frustrating. Not the end of the world but it must be a problem for everyone who stays in that part of the hotel. Maybe if this review is read by the hotel they could fix the door closer on that door to sort the problem out! I wasn’t there at check out so I’m not sure if this was mentioned to the staff then. Also only one key was provided for the room when there were two adults staying. We didn’t actually require another key and could’ve asked for a duplicate but it would be nice to have it provided without asking.

Break away.

The hotel was in an excellent location within walking distance of the town and harbour. The use of the swimming pool, sauna and steam room was really good. We found the bed very comfortable and the room was very clean.

A nice hotel, very good value for money, very friendly staff.

The hotel is located close to the centre of Caernarfon and it’s easy to walk there. The rooms in the hotel are very large. Our room was very clean, although the decor was a bit tired and could ideally do with a makeover. The breakfast was good. Nicely cooked, although a wider selection of fruit and an option of granola would be nice. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. The spa is excellent.

The common areas of the hotel were a bit dingy. A shame, because it’s a lovely old building. An investment in better lighting would bring out the best in the place.

We were placed in a handicap room. That right there destroyed our entire stay. You don’t know how uncomfortable it is until you experience it. Room 126. I can not say anything good about our stay there.

Don’t pay full whack, Get the deal from Booking.com.

We like the Old world feel was charming.

The old world technology was not charming. No power next to the beds for charging devices, a tiny TV very far from the bed, the large room could have included a table to sit at. Light switch for the bathroom was 5 meters away and you couldn’t turn the noisy bathroom fan off without switching all the lights off.

Fantastic pet friendly hotel close to amenities and Snowdon.

Second time staying here. Conveniently located in Caernarfon town with lovely pubs and scenery a short walk away. We hiked Snowdon and that was a short 15 minute drive from the hotel to the car park. The staff are always lovely and the room always toasty and warm. The main reason we stay here is due to their pet friendly nature. We went with two of our dogs and the staff provided two dog beds and a packet of treats per dog. All these little details are why we come back!

The bathroom / room itself could do with some DIY, but the cost of the room meets the condition.

Great sized rooms, clean and comfortable. The pool is clean and fantastic for rainy days. The staff are very friendly and helpful, going above and beyond in a few instances. Location is very convenient.

I feel the breakfast needs more variety. It is adequate. There is basic fruit, yogurts, cereals and the regular buffet of cooked items. It just feels very basic and gets very repetitive if you stay for more than a few days. A few additions would be good, such as a fruit salad, granola, a larger variety of pastries, a more luxurious yogurt brand. That would make it stand out as a very good hotel for me.

It was in a good location.

The room was quite dated. Id booked a double room and we were given a family room with an adjoining door so could hear next room like they were in ours. The room was extremely warm too even with the windows open. The breakfast the next day wasnt hot at all either.,,

Enjoyable One Night Stay

Easy to find and easy to park. Staff were friendly and helpful. The room was spacious (we had a junior suite) and clean. The castle and main square are a short walk away - about 10mins at a leisurely pace. The breakfast was great and the staff were excellent. The bar looked good although we didn't eat or drink there. There is a swimming pool and health facilities on site but we didn't use them as we were only there for one night. I liked all the old photos and historical documents about the hotel and region that are on the walls.

Bedroom curtains frayed. Crack in wash basin. Water melon only fruit available at breakfast and coffee undrinkably flavourless. Shower was over the bath type, difficult for older clients to climb into. Toilet was bizarrely positioned right up against bathroom door.

Decent for a short stay

The bed was comfortable. Nice water pressure in the shower. Good sauna and swimming pool in the hotel.

Room was quite tired. Windows did not close fully and it was cold in the room at night (we were there in September). Several towels had stains. When we arrived there was a pillow case from the previous visitors forgotten on the sofa. Breakfast was too simple and was not very tasty either.

The light switch for the bathroom was at the opposite end of the room. Had an issue with an evening meal which didn’t arrive. Compensation was given which helped

The pool area and the downstairs lounges are lovely.

The room was very dated, the carpet was old, the beds were very uncomfortable and the room was noisy. Unfortunately we found someone’s trousers and underwear behind a chair so we could tell that the room was not cleaned properly. The service in the bistro was slow

Overall positive stay

Staff couldn't do enough to help you all excellent, but a shoutout to Ionut great job as a waiter. All staff were wonderful though, as said couldnt do enough to help. Breakfast was superb. Hotel itself was very nice, excellent location

So 2 things let if down, first was the room, while clean, they do get hot, thankfully the hotel gave us a fan, so a point back for that.Second was evening meal in restaurant, unfortunately, they ran out of some of the items we wanted, where I get this happens was a bit frustrating took the waiter to go the kitchen before being informed, chef needs to give waiter this info before hand, as poor Ionut had to come back twice to tell us the were out of items.
