Cosy ancient inn with loads of character

Wish we had have been in the inn, instead of the town houses.

The room was huge and the kitchen was a positive added bonus. Staff excellent too

We weren't in the Black boy, but the town houses round the corner. Unfortunately, its opposite a very noisy pub and the historic building doesnt have the best sound proofing

Amazing pub with an amazing history, perfectly positioned to explore Caernarfon and other places.

Staff in all areas of the pub were extremely friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Checking in was very quick and helpful re the free parking options. Food was excellent, great choice, good prices. Good breakfast choice. Room was lovely Room 35. A bit noisy at times with the road but earplugs a great thought.

Need to get windows to fit frames better Room 35 quite a gap from one end to the other but apart from that excellent.

First class value for money accommodation with good food and efficient staff.

Excellent location for exploring Caernarfon. Staff were polite and efficient and they upgraded our room which was huge. Food was also excellent.

When we booked it mentioned that there was parking available. However it turned out that parking was £15 per night! This is excessive. Kindly the receptionist suggested a free on street parking spot overnight. This matter needs to be clarified on booking sites.

It was just okay.

The receptionist ladies were awesome and very accommodating, and friendly.

The manager of the bar, dining room was incredibly rude. One of our meals was very poor. The waitress asked us about our food and we replied honestly... Thepie was amazing, the curry- NOT good! She called over this guy who I assume was the shift manager who became very defensive. Then the following day, he was rude again!! Gave me a filthy look when I walked into the bar and then was terse when I asked about the specials that night. We ate elsewhere because of him. I’m not sure why someone like that is working in the hospitality business , but he was so unprofessional.

Helpful, cheerful staff. Well appointed, clean and comfortable room up in the roof.

Great stay

Accommodation right in the centre of Caernarfon, perfect location for shops, pubs, restaurants, the castle and marina. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the accommodation was very clean and well furnished.

A welcoming hotel, comfortable, cosy and friendly.

We did not have breakfast. But, we had 2 meals in the restuarant-both excellent. Atmosphere was great, and staff were friendly and efficient.

The only problem was the wi-fi we could not access, as we are not on X Facebook or apple. The part to enter email did not work.

Comfortable room but stay spoilt by accessibility and noise issues.

Good sized comfortable room with a generous ensuite, including a spacious shower.

The room was in a separate building up the road, and unfortunately, our room was on the top floor, which involved navigating several corridors and 4 flights of steps. Also, the sound insulation between the rooms was not great, and we were kept awake by a combination of loud conversation and their bathroom extractor fan.

Highly recommend the hotel but eat elsewhere

A historic old inn with lots of character. The room and bathroom were large, modern very clean, and comfortable. We were staying in the Town House just round the corner - very convenient location within the town walls, close to the castle, town square and cafes. There is limited parking nearby but the hotel has an arrangement so that you can park free of charge in a large car park a couple of minutes walk away. We really appreciated this. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful.

The breakfast was mediocre and expensive. Standard options on the menu but the quality was not great. There are cafes nearby offering much tastier breakfasts. The pub gets very busy and booking options for an evening meal are limited.

Clean but...

Exceptionally clean.

The room was very hot. Windows open meant being disturbed early, including by their grass being mowed across the road at 7.30 and radio on loud downstairs before 7. Staff didn't seem particularly helpful regarding drinks and dietary needs. Very limited gluten free options at both dinner and breakfast, so we are elsewhere.

Quirky comfortable Inn - a lovely location for relaxation

Lovely old building, full of character. Lovely room under the eaves, quirky. No noise at all from anyone else in the inn - good thick solid wall. All staff were friendly and helpful with any queries. Two meals in the inn, delicious.

too much palaver ordering food. Plenty of staff walking round but no-one to take your food order, just told to go to the bar and order it yourself. Didn't bother went elsewhere.

Worth staying

Ideally situated, lovely old buildings. Large, clean, comfortable room with everything you need supplied. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Dinner was delicious, plentiful and good value.

Parking isn't easy, free parking just down the road after 16:30 - 10:00 but limited spaces.

Amazing place to stay and visit for food …

Everything - could not fault this place one bit , the staff are amazing , especially the young chap who served us breakfast and drinks … he’s an absolute credit to the black boy in . Food was freshly cooked to order . The atmosphere and buzz of the place is incredible.

The only thing was the parking - limited spaces . But not massively inconvenienced . There is plenty of parking outside the wall .

Excellent Location, Good Food and Good Room

The location is excellent, inside the walled city and 5 minutes walk from the castle and quays. The hotel has a number of buildings and I stayed in the Town House, just round the corner from the main building. The room was spacious and clean and included a kitchen area. I ate in the main building which has various dining options including outside, a bar area and "coach house". I chose the bar which is snug and comfortable. Food can be ordered via an app, and service is efficient. Dinner quality was excellent. Breakfast is the coachhouse and again all excellent. There is no parking on site but the hotel can help with street parking if needed. I paid less than £5 for overnight

The only negatives is that the curtains in the room do not provide a good black out and street lamps are are just outside the room. The free WIFI was working but there was no Internet. Not the hotels fault but getting to sleep was also not helped by somone playing music until the early hours in the room below or next door.

Carnaerfen Black Boy Inn

Great location inside historic walls of the town. Room was clean and had a nice bathroom and a comfy bed.

Was a little difficult to get parked when I arrived but figured out that there are several public car parks close by so I used those. Also a small car park at the hotel that has to be paid for.
