Very clean and comfortable B&B with friendly owner

The Huntingdon is located opposite the railway station in Dumfries and is literally a 2 minute walk. The facilities are to a high standard and very clean and comfortable. Freda was extremely friendly, informative and helpful. She even gave us a lift to our work event the following day as taxis can be hard to find in Dumfries, which was exceptionally kind of her

Fab overnight stay, breakfast excellent & already booked up for another visit next year

B&B was excellent, great location to walk into town, spotlessly clean, everything finished to a high standard, host was lovely, very friendly & welcoming & nothing was too much trouble and the breakfast was excellent.

There was nothing we didn't like, everything was great, no view from our window but that wasn't an issue for us.

Lovely rooms and fab shower!

Communication to check in was good and was greeted on arrival when I had a few teething issues getting in. Room was lovely and the shower was particularly good. Would have no hesitation in staying again as it was exactly what I needed.

Just book it ...

I really enjoyed my stay at The Huntingdon in Dumfries it had such a welcoming, homely feel. The hosts were genuinely friendly and attentive, and the rooms were spotless and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious, with great local produce, and the location made it easy to explore the town and surrounding countryside. It felt more like staying with friends than at a guesthouse.

Check out time too early for a Sunday morning at 10am. We were at a party on the Saturday night and wanted a lie in. Breakfast too early 2 sittings 8.30 and 9 am too early again for a Sunday.

The welcome. We were met with a smile and were allowed to store our golf gear in a locked utility room. The house is grand and elegant inside and a lot of effort has been made to restore properly, and make the most of its features. You could easily spend a few minutes gazing at the cornicing on the dining room ceiling.

Beautiful accomodation

The accommodation was an old converted GRAND house which was beautifully decorated and freshly painted. the breakfast room was set out lovely and breakfast was absolutely delicious. The house was run by a young woman and family who were very hospitable and accommodating. would definitely stay here again!

Booked at very last minute and was perfect for my needs.

Location was great. I was visiting a friend in hospital. It was clean.

No pencil to fill out the breakfast request which needs to be left the night before. I don’t drink coffee so it didn’t affect me, but there was a Tassimo coffee machines, but no pods for it.

lovely place to stay with the bonus of being in a great location to explore the area(5-10 minute walk from the town for the evening meal,next to the train station and with easy access to get to other routes to explore further a field). the accomodation was well maintained,quiet and did a nice breakfast.freida and her mum were very nice and breakfast had a relaxed atmosphere.

Exceptional stay in Dumfries. A gem!!

We had a lovely modern room, all the amenities & it was perfect for us. The bed was very comfy & an excellent power shower! Freda was the most friendly host & kindly arranged for us to have breakfast prior to our early departure. Loved the location & a nice walk into town centre. Free parking. Our main reason for visiting Dumfries was to visit Dalscone Farm, so I highly recommend The Huntingdon as a base for a holiday or just a night. No doubt we will return.

We had a separate annex with living room/bedroom. Great for a family. Breakfast was in the main house which was beautifully renovated by the family owners. Good choices for breakfast menu

We were in the annex which is a self contained suite with a large bathroom and an excellent shower. The breakfast was excellent and very reasonably priced. The owner, Freda, is very helpful and friendly.

It was a pleasant enough stay but didn’t quite fully meet our expectations.

Close to the station, clean and tidy room, reasonable breakfast. Well presented.

No welcome on arrival -key pad entry to room however the Owner did come to see us a bit later which we appreciated. Sadly the beds in our room (2singles made up as a double) squeaked when you moved or sat on the bed. Also the dividing wall with the next room is very thin and we could hear the shower door and water running. When in our bathroom we could clearly hear a conversation in the next room- a little off putting. The owner was not the chattiest of hosts but pleasant, however she did not accept our comment about the beds with good grace and was surprised there was a problem which was not the response we expected.
