Great size, good parking off the main road, very thoughtful extras included (bread, milk), lovely views, comfortable seating area and bed. Lovely to meet the super smiley owner too! Oh, and recycling bins - amazing!

We loved the location, easy access to all areas of the island, large area for parking, very quiet , great views of the sea and the bungalow offered all we may need for our 3 night stay such as small cooking top, washing machine, good wifi and Sarah, the host, supplied a welcoming selection of tea, coffee, bread, milk and biscuits. Even though we were left alone, we had easy access to Sarah if we had any needs.

I stayed at Kevara in the middle of my 3 week vacation and specifically wanted to be able to do my laundry, which I was able to do there and they provided detergent as well! The kitchen was amazing, it had everything I needed and more. The hosts were very kind and responsive. They provided some teas, bread, and little cookies which was SO nice because I arrived really late at night and had nothing to eat <3
Everything was great. I can't think of anything that I did not like.

This cottage was a wonderful place to stay, plenty of room, comfortable living room and kitchen area, with a separate bedroom and bathroom. There is room to park the car right outside the door, and a beautiful view across the bay. Finstown makes a superb base for exploring Orkney with easy access to Kirkwall in one direction and Skara Brae in the other. There is a lot to see on Orkney, well worth a visit (and if you do, Kevara is a great place to stay). Sarah also left us supplies when we arrived which was welcome.
Everything was superb

Great central location from which to explore Orkney. Good sized rooms with separate kitchen/living and bedroom so we were able to spread out a bit. Host supplied essentials pack like bread, biscuits and milk which were much appreciated. Was lovely and warm inside, didn't really need the heater at all. Fast Wi-Fi was a bonus. Good onsite parking off the road.
Nothing to mention here.

A clean and comfortable apartment in a central location on the island. Waking up to an Orcadian sunrise and water view was magical. All the kitchen amenities you need are provided, with the little shop a short walk away for groceries. I got around the island via bicycle and bus. The bus stop is nearby and the service to Kirkswall and Stromness is surprisingly efficient. The hosts were very responsive when I had questions.

Everything was perfect.

Great apartment 10-15 minutes drive from Kirkwall ferry terminal. Very friendly owner who greeted us at our arrive. The apartment has all amenities and it’s super cosy. Perfect location as a base to visiting the main attraction spots.

Fabulous wee cottage located across from the shore. Walking distance to shop and pub. Short drive or bus to Kirkwall and Stromness. Interior was great, well decorated and had loads of appliances ( including washing machine and clothes line!) Hostess was so friendly. I didn’t get to say or thank her for the stay, the wee touches that made it our sanctuary for a few days. Wish we had time to stay longer.

Lovely house, very clean, tidy and perfect location.
Only small minor thing would be the mattress was too soft and uncomfortable.
Other than that the house was great!

There is nothing to not like about this property. Excellent communication from Sarah from the time of booking to the day we checked out of our stay at Kevara.
Location was excellent if you want to be out of Kirkwall, with a beautiful view.
We hired a car from the property owners but we also used the bus into Kirkwall which was very good. There is a pub and chip shop 5 minutes walk away.
The accommodation was really well equipped we had everything we needed, tea, coffee etc and even laundry tablets. On site parking.
I would definitely stay at Kevara again and would highly recommend it.

The hosts are really nice and very helpful. We were met upon arrival and keys and extra mugs were swiftly provided. The landlord gave us additional towels - such a generous gesture. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

No breakfast included however bread, milk and shortbreads were provided. Location was perfect for short stay people as all the heritage sites were close at hand. Only 5 mins from Kirkwall.
Nothing it was absolutely perfect for us.

The unit was very nice, facilities were good, kitchen was very user friendly. It was nice and clean, a good size and lovely bathroom. The washing machine came in handy as we were on an extended holiday around Scotland. It was an ideal place to stay. Being about 10 min from Kirkwall and 10 mins from some of the premier attractions it was ideal. I would happily recommend Kevara. Excellent value for money.

Great location for travelling around the islands. Buses at the door if you don't have transport. The bus services are excellent for travelling to all the places of interest. Comfy bed. Warm rooms and good TV's
Not a lot of space. Kitchen/living room is small and not much room, particularly for storing food, but kitchen was stocked with all necessary appliances.

The self-catering apartment was lovely, private parking.
Everything you required was supplied.
The hamper was a lovely gesture.
There is a bus stop outside, regular service to Kirkwall and Stromness.
Great sea view from the apartment, small decking area.
Nothing at all. Apart from the weather, the rest of the UK had a heat wave , but Orkney missed the invitation to it.

Kevara is a great property - the accommodation is located just off the main road, with lovely views over the bay at Finstown and a bathroom and bedroom at the back, which means it is super quiet at night, enabling a really good night's sleep.
The bedroom bed is super comfy, a flick of a switch gives you hot water for the shower and the kitchen is well equipped with oven, microwave, fridge and good storage facilities. The chairs in the dining room are very nice and relaxing too, great for looking out over the bay and chilling out in the evening.
The hosts are very welcoming - good communication before we arrived and helpful throughout our stay - our flight back home was cancelled and they gave us lots of extra help in re-booking flights and allowing us to use the room for free for extra time until all was sorted - they are a lovely couple - it was our second stay here and on both occasions they have been consistently nice, kind, welcoming and ready to help in any way they can - a kind and laid back vibe is just what I want as a traveller.
So overall a perfect place to stay and it is the price of a hotel or guest house room, so why wouldn't you want your own property, peace, quiet and independence.
Finstown is very much a small village and there are no pubs and restaurants, and the one fish and chip shop was closed on the weekend we visited - on the other hand, you really need wheels wherever you stay on Orkney - Finstown is a great location for the ferry terminals to the north and south and also for Maes Hoewe and the Ring of Brodgar - Kirkwall is a ten minute drive away and Stromness maybe 15 minutes, so we were for instance able to get a fish and chip takeaway in Kirkwall and return to the property with the meal still perfectly hot, so it wasn't really a problem for us that the village lacks places to go at night.

Wonderful accommodation that included all the essentials for preparing your own meals. Place is modern and exceptionally clean. The washing machine was very welcome to have. This was ideal for my husband and I to do our explore of Orkney Island. Plenty of room for parking and great location.

Very good location to be able to move around Mainland. Even though we didn't meet Sarah in person, communication was always very easy and she gave us some nice tips. The bed was very comfortable and the kitchen had all the equipment to cook basic meals.

It was self catering but there was a welcome basket of delicious biscuits, bread, oatcakes and fudge, all made by local companies. There was milk in the fridge and jars of tea coffee and sugar.
I didn’t cook, but all utensils etc were there.
Electric shower was good!
Nothing really.

Great location with all the amenities you could walk.
it was only around 10 minutes from Kirkwell. Which was teaming for tourists, so that made us happy to be away from the crowds, but perhaps some people would like to be closer to the urban center.

The whole place was welcoming and smart in its decor. The lovely welcome hamper was much appreciated as was the well resourced kitchen and bathroom. The host made sure we were happily settled in on our arrival. Being in the ‘middle’ of the island meant that travel to all the sites was easy. The great local shop provided us with all we needed and more.
On our arrival there were temporary road works but it wasn’t a problem and we could happily sit by the shore which was lovely. This type of work has to happen at some point!

Lovely place and a lovely location. The accommodation was perfect for what we needed. There was a nice welcome basket, which was vey welcome! We were able to have a cup of tea and relax after a day of travelling. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was perfect. Loved the toilet seat! A great place to stay to explore the island and a lovely host who came and introduced herself. Plenty of information about of things to do and places to eat.
Nothing really. The chairs in the living area were not what we would normally sit on, but they were great to sit and look out at the view.

Excellent central location. Spotless, well equipped appartment. Very late arrival so Sarah had everything ready for us, including supplies for supper, breakfast and hot drinks. Small kitchenette has more than enough equipment to cook for yourselves. Will definitely book again if available.
Personal opinion but I found the bed and pillows, although comfy enough, a bit soft for my taste, and would have preferred a settee rather than the two chairs , although again, they were comfy enough

The apartment is well thought out, warm and cosy for two people (one double bed only, so best for couples or REALLY good friends).
Great view out of the patio doors (if you ignore the public loo opposite)
Pretty central location too.
The owner (Sarah) called to check if I was arriving as my ferry had been cancelled which was a nice touch.
Ps. The ferry from Gills bay to st Margaret's is much cheaper than the scrabster-stromness
Nothing...apart from a very squeaky chair 🙂

Great location for all the sites. Plenty of free parking. A handy welcome pack on arrival, plus a few handy extras on the cupboards. Appreciated having a washing machine. Sarah is a very friendly host.
