We had a fantastic time staying in the property, it was very clean and comfortable and in a very good location, there is a post office just around the corner which sells a wide selection of food and things. We would recommend to our friends.

An amazing, beautiful property next to the sea. One of the main ferries to the island docks a few hundred meters away. The location is everything you’d wish for a Scottish Island getaway, the peace and tranquility is good for the soul. The local area is pretty, with lots to see and do further away on Orkney. Robertsons coffeehoose is also a bar just up the road, and with several shops and places to eat in St Margaret’s Hope itself this property makes for a great base. Highly recommended and our thanks to the host.

Couldn’t wish for anything better right beside the water a bus stop right outside and the ferry terminal 500 yards away PERFECT

The property was perfectly located and had pretty much everything we needed for Christmas and anew Year. It was warm, even in subzero temperatures. The bed was comfy and we even managed a bottle of bubbles out on the slip one evening.

We loved staying at 2 The Noust - a lovely little house in a fabulous location. The pub, PO/shop and bus stop are only a 2 minute walk away and the ferry terminal is only a 2 minute drive away. All this with peace and quiet too.

We had a very comfortable stay at St Margarets Hope. The little house has everything you need. The location on the slipway is just beautiful but it was a little chilly to take full advantage of it. We enjoyed going back and forth over the Churchill Barriers

We stayed at the Waterside Cottage in St Margaret’s Hope during our too short visit to beautiful Orkney. The cottage is situated in the charming town of St Margaret’s Hope, a drive away from the bigger enclave of Kirkwall. It met all of our needs and the views of the water from outside were gorgeous. We had ferocious weather during our stay and still we were in awe of the sunrises and sunsets, were visited by harbor seals, and witnessed more rainbows then we could count! We look forward to visiting again sometime.

We had a great experience at the home and wish it could have been longer. Our arrival was delayed by a cancelled ferry trip and the host was immediately responsive to our questions about a late arrival and made it super-easy for us. The house is exactly what you need as a peaceful base for exploring Orkney, was very clean, and met all our expectations. We highly recommend using it for your own travels!

This cottage has everything you would need in a lovely location next to the loch. St Margaret's Hope is a beautiful little village with an excellent pub/seafood restaurant and a well-stocked shop. This is a great place to explore Orkney from.

Comfortable cottage with everything you need while visiting Orkney. Stunning view from front door. Shops, bar and restaurant within walking distance. And don’t miss the fish and chip van when it visits on a Saturday.
Host found EarPods left behind and kindly returned to us by post.

Rooms with a view
We were welcomed at the doorstep by our host. Located by the Harbour, we watched the fisherman bring his catch in, which probably appeared on our plates at the Murray Arms later on. The cottage had everything needed for a two night stay to explore the Orkneys and was close to the ferry. St Margaret’s Hope has an interesting craft shop.

An excellent property
Tracey’s property was perfect for the my wife and I. Fully equipped right down to washing liquid for the pots. The waterside location is in one of the most attractive villages in Orkney. Overall we couldn’t fault it

Perfect get away
Lovely and cosy, well equipped for all your needs, bed very comfortable and had a lovely peaceful sleep.
Situated in a very friendly village, a stone throw from the ferry which lights up the bay in the evening.
Would recommend this property to others with no hesitation.

A great location. The cottage was great for two but would have been crowded for more than that. A bit short on plates, cutlery and cooking equipment and a house book with instructions for TV, heaters etc. would have been very useful. We have though recommended it to a number of other people and we had a great time.

Orkney in a time of Covid
The very best thing about this property is its location in St Margaret's Hope, less than five minutes from where where the Gills Bay ferry comes in (also close to the bus stop!) and with sea views from the front door. This is an attractive, clean and well equipped cottage. It's in a quiet location beside the sea, but well placed to explore the many attractions of Orkney (in "normal times".)
There are shops, cafes and pubs within (short) walking distance (& Kirkwall is 25 minutes drive away - or a slightly longer bus ride.)
It was a brilliant base for the two of us for a fortnight, although we do think the cottage might be just a bit too "cosy" for more than two people.

We enjoyed our stay. It was comfortable. The bathroom was well lit and really liked the side shelves for storage. The shower was really nice. The stair treads up to the bedroom are a little narrow -- with my bad hip I had to be particularly careful about my foot placement. But that comment goes for all of Orkneky! :-)There was room for all of our stuff. Would have liked a few more kitchen devices (e.g. good bread knife). But I understand we cook more than most people. I wasnt used to the electric stove but it worked well and I got used to it by the time we left.

Cozy Accomodations in St. Margaret's Hope
What a great property! It's location is fantastic, right on the bay, and nestled into beautiful St. Margaret's Hope. It's also two minutes from the ferry, making it an ideal choice if you booked the early morning passage. It has everything you need: a comfortable bed, a nice shower, and a full kitchen. We really enjoyed our stay.

Orkney More than OK.
The place was great. The town was laid back and authentic. Tracey the owner was especially nice. She even drove us to the ferry the morning we left.

We Enjoyed Our Stay
Pros:
Tracey was waiting to welcome us.
The cottage was comfortable.
The cottage was warm and cosy (this was important because it was very cold when we were there.)
The cottage was well equipped.
We had very good internet (not so good phone reception with EE and O2)
There were lots of interesting brochures and books to look at, and some games too.
It was lovely being in the village and walking round to the shops to get bits and pieces.
Cons:
Unfortunately, the kitchen wasn't very clean - pans and some equipment needed to be washed before use, and the oven was filthy.
There was no curtain over the roof light in the bedroom and so we got bright early morning light in the room before 5 am.

Cosy cottage
The cottage is minutes from the ferry at Gills Bay. Tracey met us and told us about the cottage and St Margaret's Hope. There is a double bed with a single fold down bed available upstairs and a double sofa bed downstairs. The cottage has all amenities needed aswell as wi fi. Robertsons bar and restaurant is a few minutes away with a good selection of coffee and alcoholic drinks. We never tried the food but it looked good. The chip van stops right outside the house on a Saturday night. A lovely weekend away.

Paradise on Orkney
This is the perfect spot for a small family and we fell in love with Orkney. The Noust had absolutely everything we needed and is a quick 20 minute drive into Kirkwall. The cottage was clean, quiet, and cosy and we felt comfortable and at home there. We explored historical attractions on several of the islands. Tracey was waiting for us when we arrived from the ferry and sent many emails to help us prepare for our stay. She was tremendously helpful and a wonderful host. Thank for a fantastic stay in Orkney!
