If you are traveling alone for a short stay, and have just basic needs, this is actually PERFECT

This area of Lucca is very central, but also relatively old and a bit old-fashioned (which is also its charm). The apartment is essential, so do not expect anything fancy. But overall it was very clean and quite cheap compared to the alternatives. The landlady was very friendly and, even though I did not need anything special, she lives in the same building so I am sure she can assist you promptly for anything. Overall, it's more like being a guest at some relatives' than staying in a B&B or a hotel.

The bathroom did not have any shampoo - but it had soap and also shaving foam, strangely enough. Also, being frequently in Lucca I was fully aware of this: this area of town is lively during the day but basically very empty at night, so make sure that you have all that you need if you go home late at night.

A spontaneous sidetrip to Lucca worth repeating

The location is good and the landlady is kind. It was nice connecting with Rosaria almost immediately as if we'd met before.

On my last day before check out, I couldn't find any cups or mugs. There were only 3 in the common corner or area . The only ceramic mug I had been using disappeared so I had to wait for the girls in room number 2 to lend me whichever was available. Maybe some ceramic cups or mugs and teaspoons would be nice in each room.

Central and cozy stay in Lucca!

Our host was exceptionally lovely and made us feel right at home. It’s in the most amazing location to explore Lucca and the city walls! Plenty of bike hire, restaurants and a supermarket a few minutes away!

It was definitely hot! But our lovely host provided a fan which helped a lot. The keys can be a bit fiddly but once you get the hang of it it’s great.

A nice ‘bolt hole’ in Lucca

Mavis apartments is along a good street, not far from the main square. Plenty of restaurant and shops nearby. The rooms are on the 3rd floor, but easily accessed by lift. There are 2 bathrooms, shared between 3 bedrooms. All rooms have a large fan (no air con) but that is sufficient. There is a microwave, kettle and a fridge, which is handy for light meals, but you can’t exactly cook! Rosearia, who looks after the apartments. Is very friendly and helpful, if needed.

I had an inner facing room, so it did get quite stuffy, but the fan was fine. No mirror in room.

Great location in a wonderful city

Clean bedroom with very caring housekeeper. Excellent location as it is close to the centre Piazza San Michel . It has a lift which is a rarity in Lucca

Lovely stay in great value rooms at the heart of the historic city.

Our stay in Mavis Rooms was absolutely lovely! Great to have the kettle, fridge, microwave and crockery provided - plus teabags! Felt very homely. Rosaria was so welcoming and helpful - and the location in the old centre was perfect. Great restaurants, a supermarket and tourist info nearby - but still quiet enough at night. We'd love to come back.

Nothing! We visited in early May so there were no problems with lack of air conditioning - but I imagine in July and August it could be very hot in these third floor rooms. That said, there was a fan in the room we stayed in - so probably okay?

Basic but comfortable stay in Lucca for 2 nights, ideal for a solo traveller

Great location and ideal budget option for a solo traveller in Lucca where there are no other hostels. Basic room, but comfortable enough for a couple of nights with good wifi.

Air conditioning would have been helpful in the summer; the fan helped slightly but was very loud. The room itself was perfectly clean and fresh, but the corridor past the other rooms smelt strongly of cigarette smoke and had no windows/natural light. Room was basic but it wouldn't hurt to put a couple of pieces of art or furniture to make it a bit more homely.

Disappointing

The location

The setting, there were 3 other rooms on the same level, all sharing 1 bathroom which urgently needs a refurbishment (mould) and cleaning. The walls between the rooms were nit noise insulated and there were smoking rooms so very smelly. I had changed my arrival time at the last minute as the flight was delayed. I texted this message while taxying on the plane, this was meant to give an early notification to the host. Upon my arrival i saw a response from the host, very rude, saying that I had no respect for other peoples work by making last minute changes. Upon my arrival, the host also repeated this angrily. After a few minutes this was clarified and everything went very well with the host. This response I received and bad welcome upon arrival is not in line with what is expected from a host...and was arrogant.

Budget stay in central Lucca

Location in Old Town close to everything. My room had two windows, both with mosquito nets, a really good thing. Very affordable.

One bathroom with shower is enough for only three guest rooms but the old dirt around the bathtub wasn´t nice. Walls and doors are really paper thin so don´t expect any privacy. Ok for one night or two.

Nice stay at Lucca

Mavi's Bedrooms is perfectly located for a Sightseeing stay at Lucca. Close to the Church St. Michele, not far to walk from the Trainstation. The Tourisoffice is just around the corner. The place itself is a bit old, but comfortable enough to have a pleasant stay.

Some of the furniture was broken. The bed was quite soft
