Really enjoyed being in the property. It was spacious and lots of amenities. It was a beautiful garden and a good place to chill. Easy access to the area around.
My mum is 87yrs old, so the steps and stairs were very challenging. The garden pathways were narrow with steps. It is possibly worth mentioning in the adverts.

From the get go we had a lot of problems with this property. The main issue was the house had an absolutely disgusting smell throughout the bottom floor, concentrated in the kitchen. The owner refused to get in touch, however sent their sister to the property who ordered two cleans, however this did not resolve the issue. Upon moving the fridge we found layers of mouse/rat droppings, and even upon that being cleaned (was quickly wiped over and not sanitised at all) the smell remained. We advised the owners sister that the smell remained and we felt it was coming from behind the washing machine, units and cooker also, to which we were told there's nothing more we are going to do. Again the owner had never once gotten in touch to resolve anything.
Through the property it was evident that it had not been cleaned from the previous guest. There was dog and human hair in the beds, dirt on the bed sheets, one bed had a huge yellow stain which was evident of urine. The windows and curtains were moldy. No light bulbs in the lamps or top lights. Shower was barely working and leaking a lot. Hair and mold in the bath. A lot of dog hair on the sofas showing it had not been hoovered inbetween guests.
The windows were painted shut and none opened which was a fire hazard. It also meant we couldn't open them to try to air the property out. We had to leave the front door open so we could manage to enter the kitchen to use it. This had us on edge the entire week as the property leads to the main road and we didn't feel safe but it was our only options as we felt physically ill with the smell.
Door handles on interior doors were broken and didn't work. The water was draining very slowly down the bath and sinks. The dishwasher tray was broken. Shelves in the fridge were missing. A wooden wardrobe was cracked with jagged edges and therefore a hazard. The windowsills were littered with dead flies and every corner had spider webs and spiders everywhere.

Its location in Lelant is perfect as a home base. Really easy to get to St Ives, Hayle, Penzance, and easy access to the A30. Train and buses from 2 stations made for easy daily travel. Local amenities are good, highly recommend The Forge for breakfast.
Amazing mature garden, perfect for the dogs and kids, some stone steps but mostly very safe. Enclosed by big iron gates so very safe from the road.
Very very well equipped kitchen, big lounge, den and a dining room. Bedrooms are enormous. The previous reviews about dust and mustiness seem to have been addressed as the house was spotless when we arrived and the silicon and grout looked to all be new.
The only downside is the low ceilings and beams in places and some of the doorways are very low. Anyone over 6ft will be doing a lot of ducking. It’s par for the course in a 300 year old grade 2 listed house though.

I thought the garden was very nice, a great area to sit and eat out. I like the charm of the old house and the spacious downstairs rooms.
The head allowance was very low in most door ways and on the stairs ( can’t remember if this was mentioned in the details but it should be.) My husband is 6ft 3 in’s and he found moving around very difficult. The sealant around the bath was very poorly applied and it was mouldy as was much of the tile grouting. I found quite a few spiders webs and the inside window frames could do with a good clean.

Lovely garden, a joy to sit in when sunny and a good space for our dogs. Cottage was well equipped and comfortable for two couples and dogs. Easy access to our favourite beaches.
No huge issue with car spaces but a van parked very close to space which made getting out on to main road difficult. A car parked regularly in front of lounge window. Traffic was noisy which we appreciate cannot be resolved without huge outlay on double glazing.. Cottage was generally clean but some corners/underneath not hoovered and things like broken biscuit found in a drawer. One of the duvets had a bad stain (not the cover). Some kitchen equipment, eg saucepans, need renewing. We did feel though that some of these issues were reflected in the price.

Despite notices people constantly parking in front of the windows

The location was brilliant, the house was lovely. Definitely has quirky features which we loved about the house. The garden was lovely and big - if we had nice weather it would have been ideal to eat outside too
When we put the shower light on after a few minutes it would switch off and then come back on flashing. The parking space was fine but other cars did park over the area making it difficult to get out as we couldn't see

We weren't told of the stairs, which was fine for us, but could be a problem for older folk. We didn't like the traffic noise from the road - pity for no double glazed windows. We couldn't sleep with the windows open because of the noise. Fans in each bedroom would be great, ads it was hot,
I understand the house is very old and has its charm.
