Alpine Hotel Reich

I have been to Switzerland before and always found the Swiss to be a bit closed off to foreigners. Imagine how surprised I was by the reception i was met with at this place. Mr. Mees, the owner, made me feel at home instantly. As I came to find out, he was indeed not from Switzerland but had migrated there from the Netherlands to pursue a more simple life in the Swiss Alps. Mr. Mees was very helpful and showed me to my room after our opening chat. The room was as expected, simple but clean and with a very pleasant, but not too overwhelming smell of pine wood. My reason for staying here was because I had to attend some business to attend at Klinik Beverin and when I told Mr. Mees, he offered to arrange transport, which I had already arranged before my trip, but still a very kind gesture. After a quick refresh I went to dine at the restaurant. I was told that they recently changed the formula to a pizzas and pinsas, because those were the most in-demand items on the previous menu, which was a bit too complicated. I could tell why they were immediately after my first bite: wow! I tried the pinsa with the spicy salami and it was just devine. I ate pizza-ish food all across the world and some of my worst experiences have been in exactly these types of hotel restaurants, so I was a bit hesitant at first, but from the sight of the plate alone I could already tell that this was no Dr. Oetker oven pizza, but honest home-made stuff with love and care put into it. Apparantly they source the ingredients from local farmes in Switzerland, but also across the border in Italy. I paired my pizza with a nice glass of pinot noir from Graubunden, the local wine region. It was an excellent meal. I skipped desert and just had a coffee afterwards with a nice piece of Swiss dark chocolate. I am a steady sleeper, so I rarely have complaints about beds and/or pillows and my night at Reich did not change that. Something about the mountain air just 10x'es your sleep quality it seems.

Sehr freundliches Personal. Restaurant ist sehr empfehlenswert… für jeden was dabei. Hervorragend gegessen. Netter Außenbereich… ist wohl im Wandel. Neue Besitzer. Alle sehr bemüht… hat für uns gepasst

…einige technische Probleme. Kaffeemaschine am Frühstück ausgefallen! Aber kein Problem für uns.., gab es heute Morgen eben Tee

Panne informatique pour l'enregistrement, pas de wifi. Restaurant avec carte réduite aux pizza.
