Outside, roadside parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis. One well-behaved pet is welcome. Sorry, no smoking. Just outside the city is the Culloden Battlefield at Culloden Moor (National Trust). The site of the last major battle fought on British soil, there is an award-winning display depicting the events of the day, whilst a walk on the field serves as a poignant reminder of the clansmen who lost their lives. Inverness has much to offer: museums, an art gallery, fine theatre and leisure facilities, not to mention shops, pubs and restaurants. The River Ness flows through the city and both the river and neighbouring Moray Firth are home to a diverse range of wildlife and marine life, including red kites and dolphins, which can sometimes be spotted from the shore or on trips from the harbour.
