Nook and Scranny

Clean and easy to find, good location. Clean and new!

It was central in Stornoway with easy walking distance of stores and restaurants, as well as the distillery. The room was charming and spotless, and the bed was super comfortable.

There’s very little sound protection from the hallway, so you hear every word the other guests are saying, as well as the staff. Also, there’s a very cold breeze that comes in under the door when the back door opens - I remediated that with a rolled up bath towel.

Roomy and easy to access from the ferry

Nothing

The bed was the most comfortable bed we have had on this trip and the room beautifully presented.

It was challenging to access at night in the rain as we had come over on the ferry. We needed to walk around the side of the building through a narrow space between building and shed and then go up metal stairs around the back of the property with delayed time sensor lights lighting to way. There was also confusion around breakfast options. The information indicated that the property did not offer meals, but guests could have breakfast in deli on ground floor. This was actual a general shop and we were referred to go to deli a few doors up, only to find they only offered takeaway breakfast rolls. This would have been ok, if we had known at the beginning that this was all that was on offer, as we could have made alternate arrangements, due to me needing gluten free options. By the time we had discovered all of this, we did not have time to then walk to the hotel 5 minutes away to have breakfast as we were being picked up for a tour.
