Great location with a decent breakfast,

Location, quirky design

EXTREMELY small shower, couldn't turn around or bend to wash my feet. Kettle provided but nowhere near a plug! Staff communicated only with Italian visitors, whilst we waited for coffee/tea to be made.

Could not have wished for a more charming room complete with baronial room deco

Location, very close to everything in the old walled Lucca. Great fun navigating the maze of ancient cobbled streets and alleyways. Bearing in mind we are in a medieval centre the occasional whiff of drains may be encountered. The property has been brought up to a very good and charming standard with the usual amenities again not four star hotel but with a compact En suite newly decorated far better than one would expect say in Paris. Everything was clean and serviced daily by Nicci (Spelling) who greeted us with a smile each day. Bedding sheets and towels all good. Breakfast was European , well presented and very good. Everything looked after by Sylvia who did a great job and was most helpful. We would definitely make a return visit.

The shower in room five is very compact but worked well good pressure and plenty of hot water. Again remember we are in a medieval setting so very pleased to have a En Suite. Couldn't find a free wall socket for the Kettle! Bed might be considered too hard by some. Neighbouring Bar was a little noisy with open window but thats not Antica's fault.

It was dark, felt claustrophobic & the stairs were lethal. Wall paintings were weird with man in armour & ladies with names but no story to explain. Very noisy in the front rooms, awful overpowering smell of cleaning fluids. Couldn’t wait to escape.

A nice bed and breakfast if you don't mind steep stairs and a small shower.

The morning staff person, Silvia, is the best part of staying at this bed and breakfast. She is friendly, helpful, and will even teach you Italian phrases if you ask! She sets up the continental breakfast, makes coffee to order, and checks in guests who arrived the prior afternoon and evening when there is no staff member on site. During those hours, guests use an emailed door code to enter the building and pick up their room keys. The bed was firm and comfortable. The bath fixtures are good, although the shower is very small. The shower worked for me, but a larger person would probably have trouble stepping inside the enclosure and shutting the door.

To reach the guest rooms and the breakfast room you must climb a steep interior stone staircase. Two of the rooms and the breakfast room are one flight up. The other four rooms are two flights up. There is no elevator, and no staff to help with carrying luggage. This is not a good choice for anyone who has difficulty with stairs.

Nice place, reasonable price and close to lots of things!

Lucca is an "all walking" zone inside the city. So being int he right location was important for me. This property is near the Piazza Bernardini which is great for taxi pickup as well as close to things like market, restaurants, bar. The property has a neat theme. The breakfast was nice and the lady helping was really cordial. She helped us navigate the cappuccino machine. We were coming from Pisa and they let us check in early which was really great.

The rooms are small (a lot like you would expect in Europe) and the bathroom is nice but the shower is very small. Neither I nor my husband could bend over in it. The wi-fi was off 2 of the 3 days we were there. The host reset the router for us on day 1 but she was out of town so on day 3 we could not check in to our flights or communicate with our offices. Being IN a walled city means you cannot depend on cellular so just be aware. Last thing: I cannot do stairs nor walk well. The first step to get in is high and you have 2 flights of stairs to get to the first floor. That was difficult for me.

Quirky with a warm heart

The location was fabulous. The welcome very warm. Great breakfast. Rooms were quirky and beautiful.

Tea was provided but no coffee. Bathroom on the small side. Anyone over average build would struggle in the shower.

Historical building has limitations re fire escape. Should there be a fire at the restaurant level, there are security grills on the windows at that level. The upper level windows have no portable ladders

Would recommend this property for it’s fabulous location- ideal for a short stay

It’s an interesting property right in the heart of Lucca- close to lots of sights, bars, restaurants and shops. An old property, so by it’s very nature it is slightly cramped and dark, with steep steps up to the rooms- but it’s full of character which befits the middle-age history of the beautiful town of Lucca. The breakfast was nice, and the main assistant was lovely- very helpful and friendly

Great location but not recommended if you want a good breakfast and real value for money.

The bed was comfortable and the room was attractive. Very good central location and with no noise from outside.

The bathroom was very small. The shower unit was tiny. There was no space in the bathroom to put anything. The breakfasts were just adequate with very little choice and poor quality ingredients. These factors represented poor value for money they would have been acceptable if the price of the room was considerably cheaper.

A gorgeous property in the heart of Lucca. Very clean, friendly and helpful staff, and breakfast is available too, just 5 euro.

Lighting was dim, great for atmosphere, but not for reading (if you have poor eyesight like myself!). No complaints though, everything was great.

The room was lovely. Beds comfy. Very friendly host. The breakfast was lovely in the dining room next to our bedroom. We were able to help ourselves and there was a nice choice of cereal, pastries, ham, cheese, fruit etc and a coffee machine. Great central location. A lovely gelato shop right outside. The entrance was lovely too.

A bit dark in the room but added to the atmosphere I guess. Plus we stayed when it was raining so that would have made it darker.

First room was on a busy street. Very noisy. We switched to a room with a window on the tiny courtyard. This room was quieter but quite dark.

What a priceless find in the middle of Lucca!! Friendly, awesome location, amazing interior, super comfy bed, very cosy room. I cannot fault this place. Franca is a wonderful host and when I texted to ask if she had a corkscrew we could borrow (to enjoy a bottle of wine we purchased from wine tasting), she not only put a corkscrew in the room, but also two wine glasses. Would certainly stay here again when we return to Lucca. Loved being so close to everything in a bustling, lively town.
