RoyalMile Luxe - Elegant 3BR Apartment in Old Town

Sentralt i gamlebyen, kort vei til det meste. Leiligheten var romslig og pent innredet. Gode senger og god plass til 5 personer. Godt utstyrt kjøkken, med kaffemaskin og varmtvann i kranen.

Inngangspartiet var mørkt og trangt og hadde en oppsamlingsplass for søppel/ conteinere. Trappeoppgangen var gammel og trist. Kunne gjerne ha fått et strøk maling og mer lys. Det var stilaser og byggevirksomhet på nabobygget, noe som gjorde det litt mindre koselig utendørs.

The location is excellent, just a few feet from the corner of High Street and North Bridge. It's small, with only one bathroom, but it was adequate, and the three bedrooms offered privacy and good bedding. The kitchen was well stocked and had coffee/tea for the morning.

The entrance is down a slightly seedy dark alleyway, past the trash bins, and the unit is 3 floors up, with no elevator, but it all works out, and the location makes up for everything.

It was located in the City Centre.

It was difficult for my old parents to climb up the stairs.

Couldn’t fault the interior of the apartment. Everything was spotless, comfortable and well equipped, and we had absolutely no complaints about the apartment itself. The lower scores for the cleanliness, value for money and location were due to the outside of the apartment and walkway to it which really let it down massively.

However, the same cannot be said for the exterior or the communal stairs leading up to it. Had we realised beforehand just how awful the outside surroundings were, we would never have booked this apartment. The photos on the website give a completely different impression and, although we had read a couple of reviews mentioning the exterior, they really didn’t prepare us for how bad it actually was. The stairs and communal areas were absolutely filthy. There were delivery bikes left on two of the landings, a fridge dumped outside one of the flats which looked as though it had been there for some considerable time and was disgustingly dirty, and human excrement outside the flats near the communal bins. We also unfortunately witnessed people urinating in the area. On one occasion, when we returned from an evening out, there were three people sitting on the ground immediately outside our door. We found this extremely intimidating, particularly as we were a group including my daughters and grandson. The location is very central, which is why we chose the apartment, and the apartment itself is lovely. However, the condition of the exterior and communal areas was so bad that it completely detracted from our stay. It felt dirty, unpleasant and, at times, quite intimidating, and we would not have booked had we known what to expect. I feel compelled to leave this review because the website photographs present the property in such a positive light, while the reality outside is very different. Anyone considering booking should be made fully aware of the condition of the surrounding areas before making a decision. The exterior and communal areas need significant attention and cleaning.
