Villa Charm on Claudelands

Lovely little unit, very comfy bed, great for a night or two. Lovely breakfast provided as well. Thanks

Very good location near Claudelands Event Centre. Rooms were well appointed with comfortable bed and furniture. Good breakfast and easy parking onsite.

Nothing

The apartment is the front part of a larger house (which is partitioned in the hallway), and the apartment itself was a 10/10 - the Villa Charm team have presented a beautifully appointed apartment which is consistent with the era of the house, and it is near to the centre of Hamilton. I was able to walk to the Farmers Market on Sunday morning, and the CBD was a short 5min drive away - if it was not raining I would have walked. The apartment is spacious, both the lounge room and bedroom are comfortable. There is a clawfoot bath and a separate shower cubicle in the bathroom. There is a washing machine, private outdoor space, and car parking available on site. The hosts provided a wide selection of breakfast goodies (continental style breakfast). The bed was very comfortable. The towels were fluffy. My recommendation is to bring ear plugs however.

The house is of traditional construction - suspended timber floors, masonry walls and double hung (single glazed) windows - so the external noises could be heard inside, especially in the quiet of the night. The freight trains ran throughout the day; there seemed to be one train every hour and it was of reasonable length, and this continued through until just after 2am when the last train passed by. The train line runs behind the buildings on the other side of the street, however there is no house or building in front of Villa Charm so the noise carried straight into the front (only) bedroom without a buffer. I did not notice any early trains on Sunday morning, but by Sunday evening the trains were running again through until 2am and then the first train of the day on Monday ran past at around 5am. I think that I could have managed with the train noise, however on Saturday night the immediate neighbour (who shares the driveway) had a party which was in full swing at 4pm and was still going at 2am - it looked like it could have been a celebration of some sort as there were balloons, but an outdoor party past midnight, in a residential area, really is unreasonable.

Had conference at Claudelands and this was a short walk. Great setup, spacious and great breakfast snacks and coffee!
