Very English & old - mind your head due to low ceilings but that makes it unique

The toilet wasn't working properly and the bathroom we had, had a bath and a shower head but had to hold it which is not ideal Toilet wasn't flushing either but maybe wasn't mentioned from the last person who stayed there

Charming and perfectly located, with a stunning view of the cathedral from the lovely beer garden at the rear.

The hotel itself is nice because it's a historic building. The bar, the restaurant and the garden are really pretty. The food at the restaurant is reasonably priced and of good quality. The staff is also very nice and welcoming. We were three: me, my partner, and a friend passing by Salisbury for only a day. The owner kept our bags for several hours at no cost after the checkout, even though the service was neither included nor mentioned. It was very helpful. We are really thankful for this.

We kept our expectations low about the interior design and the structure of the bulding knowing that it was a historical building, we were not expecting anything fancy... I strongly pushed my partner and friend to have a different experience. Unfortunately, despite reviews saying the place was clean, we found the bathrooms at the limit of acceptability. The sink and shower were simply gross. Our door bathroom (n.2) was defective. The room was apparently fine; for sure, it looked cute. I did not investigate the cleanliness to avoid getting even more grossed out. The fact is a bit dark, but it helps. The bathroom is not en suite; the website says the opposite. It's okay, it's a historical building... But at least to prevent customers from feeling uncomfortable, they could provide some slippers, the same way they provide robes (which is nice). The breakfast was nice, but really not enough for 2 people. In a basket in front of our door, we found 2 croissants, only 1 apple juice, and 1 orange. It was a breakfast for 2. The ceiling is really low; my partner is 1.87 (6.14 feet), and he could not stand normally and had to bend his head. This is not necessarily a problem because the structure is old, and having a sense of what an original building is, it's fascinating. I don't know about the safety of the ceiling thought. It was for sure an experience. I want to be even more honest: given the place's particularities, cleanliness needs to be the host's top priority.
