Friendly staff and decent breakfast
Surprised that the bar was closed so early. The room was on the main road, in spite of having asked for a quiet room, and although the double glazing was quite effective, there was still quite a lot of breakthrough noise from the night club round the corner. Of course the hotel is in the town centre so I appreciate it's difficult, but this may not be the place for you if you are very sensitive to noise - or bring earplugs!

Nice big room with comfy bed. Good shower and bathroom.

Location near Cathedral with parking. Quiet Sunday to Monday overnighter created fab night’s sleep. Quirky historic building/rooms with some spacious warm rooms
Door shutting mechanism was very strong so doors slammed to loudly.

Looked nice online. Tired looking when you get there
Cobweb in bedroom not up high but had been there a long time by the size of it.
Bottom sheet on the bed was too small for the bed so easily crumpled when one moved.
Noisy plumbing issues when neighbouring rooms used the facilities

Location is very central for the shops
Our room was situated on the main road near to the nightclub, woken up both nights at 3am!

When we arrived to our room it was beautifully decorated with petals on the bed. The bed was a Superior Double and a big size which is what we requested. Staff were all very pleasant and helpful, and the food in the lounge (especially the cream tea) was excellent. The location was great, within walking distance to many shops, restaurants and tourist sites.

Have stayed before and will again- very nice hotel with some amazing carved furniture and decor. Staff very good also.

Friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfast.
Room was a bit dated but was functional
6.0 / 10.0
Good location, large room, large bed, nice lounge, convenient lift.
Room had cobwebs dangling from the ceiling and coving, shower over a bath is outdated, a proper walk-in shower needs to be installed, the shower curtain stuck to your body, room in need of renovation - paint and decorate, one bedside light not working, new carpet would be good.

The room was beautiful and the hotel is right in the middle of the city. Perfect!
I can't think of anything.

We like the Red Lion for its central location, 24 hr front desk, great breakfast, and warm convivial atmosphere. Plus it's excellent value for money and a much better breakfast than some of Salisbury's far more expensive hotels.
The bedroom was pretty cold, though the duvet was thick and warm. We did find the radiator in the morning but it would have been nice to have a warmer room. Plus bed and pillows were really hard! A good sleep however despite those elements that were not to our comfort taste.

Location was great, in the main town centre and just next to the Stonehenge bus stop.
Good price for the accommodation. The full English breakfast was nice and well served.
The bed was okay. I particularly don't like when they join 2 single beds to create a double bed, but for 2 nights it was okay.
No advice about food ingredients (allergens) in the menu or buffet labels. On Sunday breakfast, I chose scrambled eggs as the fried ones were finished, and after a few bites I asked the staff if they were made with milk and foud out they had cream! I'm lactose intolerant and can't eat this. The hotel should be more careful on this.

Great value for money, right in the city centre. We stayed here for the winter solstice and were able to get a bus to Stonehenge from a few yards from the hotel. Lovely comfy bed and clean, large room.
The walls were very thin and we could hear the people to the left of us snoring, and then on the conjoined side we could hear talking. Luckily I take ear plugs everywhere I go so it was fine!

The bed was comfortable, the building is beautiful and the staff were polite and helpful.
Some of this will be down to it being a saturday night but I was kept awake by not only the sound of people arguing in the street at 2am but anyone going in and out of their rooms on our landing and via the front door to the building. Its a large loud heavy door that slams. Every. Single. Time. Also, our room would not shut from the outside UNLESS you slammed it. So even though there's a sign on a hallway door asking people to be mindful of slamming doors, it can't be helped. This was so frequent at one point I couldn't help growing extremely frustrated while trying to sleep.
There were quite a few large dark hairs around our bathroom including on the walls and the back of the door. Im blonde and my partner is virtually bald. This just gave the impression of housekeeping cleaning the shower then using it to wipe walls possibly and just made us question the hygiene of the room.
Not the end of the world but as a vegetarian it wasn't ideal that baked beans didn't come out for breakfast until 8.30am. I didn't realise until I sat down and ate most of my breakfast that I had the option to request a vegetarian sausage, which I did. If im honest it was the cheapest vegetarian sausage type you can get, the rice/potatoey type. If you know, you know. So when I first sat down for a cooked breakfast my immediate options were hash browns, tomato and mushrooms.
The positive of the tv in room 18 is really awkward if you do enjoy watching abit of tv with a partner in bed.

I liked the room and the hotel location
I am elderly were no lift facilities or advance warning information or staff to assist. I want to use WIFI but it kept on disconnecting. Information was not upfront with staff. You had to keep on asking staff.

Great location, nice ambience, clean and well equipped.
The room was very warm which I couldn't change as the radiator had obviously been on all day and by the time I got back there in the evening it was too late to change.

Room moved due to night club across the road...
Parking public spaces only
Breakfast good
Room above average
Initial staff member checking me in was not sympathetic to my concerns about the night club below the window at the back of the hotel... but eventually changed room.

Easy check-in and check-out, tidy and wide room, and perfect location
It was clean apart from a web that was hanging from the ceiling

It is a really historic hotel, it is like a maze to get to the rooms! :D
But the room was comfy, we loved the tube in the bathroom. The breakfast was nice, even more, than we expected. The public areas are elegant.
And the location is perfect!
The bed itself could be a little more comfortable.

The hotel looked lovely all ready for Christmas. It was very warm and cosy looking. The room was spacious and clean and the location is great.
The breakfast on the first morning was a buffet but the trays had run out of various items which took some time to refill we were told due to there being just one chef. The second day was table service which was better but everything was sprinkled with herbs which is not to everyone's taste.

Spotless, comfortable, quirky, historic building with a very well appointed room. Good size tv. Very comfortable bed with optional extra pillows. All the facilities you would need; kettle, brew kit, hair dryer, iron and board. Spacious and Immaculately clean bathroom. Very friendly staff. Cosy public rooms; good range of beers at the bar with a cosy open fire. Great, no fuss breakfast arrangement. Great location for access to the city on your doorstep.
The lack of on site parking but understandable and the proximity of Brown st car park mitigates this.

Nice room ,pleasant & helpful staff.
Heating in the room - no 80 - hardly worked. Radiator in bathroom stone cold, radiator in room hardly got warm at all and gurgled early morning. It was the coldest night of this winter with a hard frost.
