Litterly everything on your doorstep within 1 meter in the heart of Southampton on Oxford Street. A range of pubs, clubs, cocktail bars, and restaurants all on one pedestrianised street. A non attended self entry by code. victotian accommodation with excellent communication via telephone or text if you should need to contact the manager as I did. Walking distant from the docks. I have used the Oxford rooms many times over the last couple of years, and for me, it is the most value for money for the location in Southampton.

Remember or write down your acess codes in case your mobile runs out of battery as mine did.

My stay at The Oxford Rooms was very disappointing. There was no hot water in my room from the moment I checked in late at night until I checked out the next morning. After a long drive from Birmingham, I was too exhausted to report the issue immediately and assumed it would be working by morning — but it wasn’t. I had to leave for work without being able to take a proper shower. When I raised the issue, the response from the hotel was defensive and dismissive, blaming me for not reporting it sooner instead of taking any responsibility or showing understanding. Even worse, after I followed up, the hotel completely ignored all further communication and offered no refund or compensation whatsoever. Overall, this was a frustrating and unacceptable experience. Basic amenities like hot water should always be working, and guests deserve to be treated with respect when issues arise. I would not recommend staying here.

Location was great. Bit noisy as it was above bars but I did know of this at time of booking due to other reviews

No hot water at the property and had to be moved to another location. Large inconvenience and person I spoke to on the phone was rude.

Perfect stay for weekend stay for football. Self check in good

Location was perfect for football match, in area where plenty of bars, restaurants. Room large and clean, great shower in bathroom. Self check in.

Sent WiFi code however couldn’t connect. Needs more pillows on bed.

A pleasant stay, which was good value for money and we would stay again if we returned to the Southampton area.

The room is really well presented, lovely and clean and bright. The location is perfect, being very central on Oxford St by numerous bars and restaurants. The owner quickly responded when we made contact with a query. The check in process is easy and keyless which makes it convenient.

The facilities are limited. I think the room could be improved if there were kettles and a tea and coffee pack included with some bottles of water. There’s nothing in the room for the morning or if you head back to the room in the evening so you do need to be extra prepared. The bed was slightly uncomfortable but we only stayed one evening so wasn’t a massive issue for us. It would benefit from a mattress topper. We also forgot a travel iron which is our own fault but it would have been good if there were irons available in the property.
