We had a room on the top floor facing the street. The bed was comfortable. The room clean. But there is no double glazing and the street is a very lively pedestrian street with many pubs and restaurants. It was loud all night. The bathroom was also in need of renovation.

Such a cool place to stay with history tied to the Titanic. It was close to the port that our cruise left from. The pub below and the surrounding restaurants were all great as well! The staff was super friendly and welcoming.

This is a quaint and charming set of rooms about the Grapes pub. It is not for the faint of heart or the weak of knees. One must climb two steep sets of stairs so make sure your luggage is is light. The check in is at the bar by the owner who is a really nice guy. He gives instruction on how to enter and return with the key and his assistant showed us the room. He did offer to help carry our luggage up the stairs. The shower was a bit iffy. There is a red switch on the wall to turn it on but I was hesitant to do so for fear of setting off a fire alarm. I would recommend putting a note about it for explanation. The bed is very comfy and there are a few eateries and other pubs on the block. Drop the key in the box on the way out and off you go! Great place. I'd go back again without a doubt.

Rooms above an old English pub. Can’t beat the atmosphere. Be prepared for a little street noise and narrow stairs.

The rooms are directly above a busy bar and party area (with several other bara and restaurants in the same area. No double glazed windows. You cannot sleep until 2am. The room itself is however good and it is only a few minutes’ walk to the port for a cruise.

The Grapes Hotel is a piece from history, and historic hotel connected with historic events that hasn´t had the old doors and woodwork replaced with modern veneer. This is absolutely the real deal. This is the place where at least some of the Titanic crew partied the night away the night of April 9-10, 1912, just before they went on their voyage. And the pub looks like it did. You lay in your room at night listening to the sounds below, and you can almost hear that fateful night, just before life for Southampton was forever changed. Sitting in the pub you can see in your minds eye stokers and firemen, a little drunk, rushing out the door in the morning to get to work. The Grapes is where any serious maritime historian ought to stay at least one night in Southampton.

I would definitely stay here again . My room was at the top of the building so would not suit people with mobility issues . There’s no parking so that’s also an issue if you had a lot of luggage . The area is fairly trendy with dining places and bars nearby so a little bit noisy but it’s a city centre pub so what did you expect ? Rooms are clean a comfortable but what stood out was the friendliness and professionalism of the staff . I met 4-5 of them during my stay and they were all people I would be delighted to employ in any customer facing role because they had the right attitude and approach . 10/10

Good: I picked this hotel because of proximity to the cruise ship port. It is just a 1 min walk to the entry of the port. Eating/drinking - there is a bar at the bottom of the hotel, and many right around the area just feet away. Bad: Small stairs to go up to room difficult to carry luggage. Rm is tiny, but doable. The small twin? bed had a head board and foot board which forced me to cruch into a ball to fit on the bed. Im 6'2". If it didnt have a foot board would have been able to just hang my feet off and would have been ok. The shower was also small (more usual in europe) and the shower head holder actually broke while i was showering.

This property is on a street that is closed off to traffic. It is not listed clearly in the listing. It was difficult to get to via the transportation we had from Heathrow and we had to drag our bags from the street to the hotel. This is was for both the check in and check out. We were in town to catch a cruise.

Interesting 3rd floor room above a bar! It had a queen size mattress sitting in a Wooden box on the floor. Very low & hard to get up from!! Orbitz and/or hotel had mixed up our booking so all sorts of problems at check in. Not for older travelers.

Great 'local' accommodations. As many old hotels, there is no lift so guests must be able to climb 3 flights of narrow winding stairs - which are definitely worth it. Great staff and pub with restaurants steps away. Breakfast next door (included) is the best 'full' English breakfast and lattes of our trip.

I must admit - when I read that this pub offered a BnB service, I was sceptical at first. Would it be clean? Would it be noisy? Now afterwards, I have nothing to complain about. The (single) room was clean and modern, had everything I could've asked for. And the accommodation part is next door to the pub, so I was never disturbed by any noise. I didn't engage much with staff, but those two I talked to were both very friendly, helpful and accommodating. High quality accommodation at a very good price!!

old building, only four rooms on third level no lifts. Apart from this, the staff helped to take luggage up to room. Room was clean, spacious and en suite.Only a shirt taxi to cruise terminal. A 15 to 20 minute level walk to the centre of town. Knowing above, would book again.

When asked they said breakfast was served from small café right next door & given a voucher then but not on arrival. Although the food in the morning was fantastic it only opened at 8am & I was hoping for earlier so I could get on the road with my job. Then had to post keys through pub door as checkout. Weird set up but fantastic nights sleep.....would possibly consider using again if in area, No Parking a big no no.

The Grapes is a great lively pub in the centre of Southampton. Although very busy the manager (Paul) took the time to show me the room and explain the benefits of their gold card which allows you discount at the bar and restaurants near by. There is no parking at the pub but there is pay parking nearby. The room was clean and comfortable. I would stay again. It is rooms over a city centre pub so take this into account if booking.The location is easy to reach via the 60p toll bridge to the east. It is 15 min walk to St Mary’s Football ground.

Ok standard on both room and bathroom, polite and helpfull staff, and relative short walking distance even if the destination is city center or Bedford Place. If you prefer to eat and drink nearby, you have good alternatives both in same street and within short walking distance. For me, having my own clean bed- and bathroom s the most important aspects with a hotel stay as the purpose is to have a decent place to be when not exploring the nearby area or whatever the purpose of travel is.
