Arrived late and left early so saw nobody and didn't use any facilities. Nevertheless, everything worked perfectly. All instructions were comprehensive and easy to understand. The room was fine and spotlessly clean.

I stayed in a single room towards the back of the property. Though quite compact, it was very quiet, clean and comfortable, and had everything you could possibly need, including a super comfy bed - in which I was dead to the world for a full seven hours - a great power shower, tea/coffee facilities, and a TV with all the Freeview channels. The owners kindly allowed me to use the dining room in the evening to eat the food which I had brought with me. I didn’t take breakfast (it wasn’t included). The Railway Station and City Centre are only around a 10 or 15 minute walk away, though if required there are bus stops in the nearby main road. Overall, a very pleasant stay, which I hope to repeat one day.

Checking in wasn"t that easy, other than that it was top marks, a clean tidy well appointed comfortable room, a quiet locstion, easy to park. Will definitely stay again when next in the area.

The hotel is a bit tired. No one to greet you, just a pass code. The advertised bar was locked. On going down for breakfast, was told that this was extra, £8.50 each for continental breakfast. After paying £128.00 for one night, I thought this was rather extreme. I am afraid I will not be booking this establishment again.

No meet and greet. Steep stairs to guest rooms. Room cramped and only natural light was a skylight. Bathroom was no bigger than a cupboard and shoeer shower was inaccessible to me partner who is awaiting 2 knee replacements. Had we not already paid in full, we would not have stayed he

There was no staff on site to help when I discovered that the bathroom shower in Room 17 had NO WATER ! So I paid over 80 pounds & couldn’t even take a shower☹️. I would not recommend this place because when I was leaving the next morning @ 8:30 a.m. after not being able to shower, I saw a lady downstairs in the hallway & told her about the lack of water & she said “oh you going to give me a bad review?”

All 14 rooms at Hunters Lodge were occupied even so the owner - Roddy made time for us. The room was exceptionally clean (credit to the cleaner) the bed was very comfortable and there was lashings of hot water for the shower and from the taps in the sink. The car park was safe and secure. We had room number 16 which was lovely with an off-shoot bedroom and separate sink. All in all we enjoyed our one nights stay here and would book again. Good value for money. Roddy was very accommodating allowing us to leave our car in the car park for a couple of hours before our ferry over to The Isle of White. Very happy guests!

This was the second time that we have stayed at Hunters Lodge and it didnt disappoint. Its clean and the beds are so comfortable. The host was so helpful and we will be booking again

Have stayed here a few times in the past so knew inwould get a good stay. On thia occasion, i was disappointed with the stay as the room i was assigned didnt have a bath mat, but a paper aborbent towel which reminded me of a puppy training pad. The room itself was comfortable and had good storage. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Had a really nice stay in a single room at the lodge. I didn’t engage with the owners/staff bar checking out, but they were very pleasant. Ideal for a business or resting space to visit family/friends, this was an ideal stay at a reasonable price. Only feedback was the stairs getting to the room may be an issue for anyone with mobility issues. Something to consider/ask about ground floor rooms if that is an issue for other guests.

I knew the house was dated and expected the age of the house to show. The furniture now has the musty smell of days gone by. Our personal favorite touch was the blue and white peepee pad ( the ones used for puppies and potty training toddlers) as our shower mat. Any local attraction information is almost as dated as the house. If you decide you would like breakfast then ask 24hrs ahead. Don't wait until 7:00 pm because they don't keep food or milk in house and they don't want to go to go to the market. If you are going on a cruise "just wait until you get on the ship". The stairs are steep, halls are narrow and there is no air conditioning. Hope you don't have heavy bags or a bad back If you are ok with budget friendly and don't mind the aged musty smell then this place is for you. If you prefer a bit more modern convenience then choose a different location.

Good location, with good bus links to city centre, or a 25 minutes walk. Friendly welcome. Minor issues pointed out were rectified immediately. Free onsite parking at front and back of property. Continental breakfast can be included for £8.50 extra.

Me and my colleague stayed at Hunters Lodge for 3 nights in 2 rooms. The furniture is really outdated but it was very clean and the bed was comfy. First the electric switch for my sky light (the only window in the room) was broken and the room was boiling hot. Took a while for someone to come up and take out the ladder to fix it (they had to reset the system). The socket next to my bed didn't work as I wanted to charge my phone during the night. My collegue's shower was half broken. When I got home late in the evening they forgot to refill my milk so I couldn't have a well deserved cup of tea after a long day of work. My collegue's sky light had no blinds so day light flooded her room at 5 in the morning. And when we got downstairs on the first morning it appeared that we hadn't booked breakfast. I thought the whole concept of a B&B was that the second B stands for breakfast. But we had great breakfasts in town, so no harm done but never returning again.

Quaint old home converted to hotel. Did not expect it to be quite so self-serve without any staff around whatsoever. Coming from North America we did not have phones and there were not any phones (to call for taxi) or staff to assist so we had to walk quite a distance to a cab stand to set up pick up time.

We were very surprised at the condition of this property because of the 4 and 5 star reviews. Maybe there has been a management change? The room we stayed in was large enough, but was dingy and needs a refresh. The weather outside was chilly and cool, but there was no heat inside the building. The walls need to be painted and the carpet needs to be cleaned. There is a continental breakfast available for a fee that was very disappointing. We needed extra toilet paper and the owner was surprised that we had run out, though there was not extra in the room. She was also surprised when we told her about the spiderweb. She promptly removed it and said that she appreciated us showing her otherwise she would not have known it was there. That causes me to think that she does not personally check the rooms every day. The mattress was very comfortable, which was good. But the overall maintenance of the property is lacking. (The magazines in the lounge are dated 2015 through 2020.) We have many reasons to return to Southampton, but we will not return to this property.
