You get what you paid for, however, some 3 star hotels in Southampton were cheaper, with breakfast.

The location, freindly staff, quick booking in.

The room, was not that welcoming, very small single bed. First time that I have been put in that room (6)

Clean and conveniently situated property with friendly staff.

Unassuming small venue, but obviously run attentively. Clean and friendly. I had the single room at the top and there was no disturbance from the bar activities. Have booked again for May 26 and will use permanently for my cruise travels from Southampton.

The location is great and its a fun and quirky place to stay with lots of character.

The room had a lovely view of the neighborhood below, and it was still very quiet. This is a great location to stay if you’re taking a cruise because it’s very close to the port. The staff was very nice and they even gave you a discount down in the pub and the restaurant accruing the street which was excellent.

I was fine with the three flights of stairs but my partner had some difficulty with that last flight.

Perfect for a short stay

Really good central location with different restaurants. As they were quiet they moved me to a bigger room which was fab. Room was spacious and clean with tea and coffee. Will be back if I'm ever back in Southampton

Comfortable stay in a good location in Southampton.

Located on a lively street in the center of Southampton. Good location from which to walk to all the historic sites and the waterfront. Guestroom was clean, well lit and plenty of outlets near the bed to charge devices.

The fact that there was no elevator, but I knew that in advance. The mayflower poured from which I was departing it’s not accessible from the hotel on foot by bus.

Lovely stay in historical house

My room and the bed were cosy. The atmosphere was so nice. The staff was kind and helpful. I loved it to stay there and would come and stay for another time. Just a 5 minute short walk to the harbour.

There is really nothing to mention. Everything was great.

Lovely location! Very lively pub with sports! Also on entry I was give a golden card which gave me 10 % off all drinks for my whole stay 😀

Absolutely fabulous

Excellent location. Staff very welcoming and helpful. Lots of little extra touches. Extras on the landing eg toiletries wine glasses umbrella in case of rain, small fridge in room. This place was a great find would definitely stay here again.

Everything, the customer service was excellent.

Steep stairs up to the room but the barman carried our luggage up for us so not a big deal.

Comphy time for three nights

Such nice people working here and the room was clean as could be. The bed was comfortable. Things were hopping down in the pub for the weekend I stayed and if I drank I might have joined them. The stairs aren't as awful as some people describe but I am so out of shape and old I really had to be careful and take one step at a time hanging on to the railing. My suitcase was carried up and down for me. And the price couldn't be beat for a weekend in a port city.

The staff. The location, walking distance to the cruise port Comfortable bed. The pub was quaint & although they don’t serve food, there is a wonderful Greek place next door (Miss Pita) and they brought our food to us in the pub

Great for an overnight stay

We attended our friends birthday party at XOXO which was across from where we were staying so it was handy to walk over. Plenty of places to eat and drink nearby. The room was clean and met our needs for a overnight stay and was good value.

It didn't bother us, but it was quite loud as there were so many bars locally. The rooms are up two flights of stairs which might be difficult if staying longer with bigger cases.

Convenient for port, comfortable stay

Great location for the port, lots of food options close by, rooms are comfortable but only accessible by steep stairs so not suitable for some. Lots of extras provided, fans, hot water bottles, toiletries, tea and coffee facilities etc you can store your luggage downstairs and staff are very helpful

Great Value, Friendly & Helpful staff, Interesting area

Nice location on a mainly pedestrian street with LOTS of restaurants. Room was upstairs but friendly staff offered to help us get our larger bags upstairs. They also explained procedures well, and helped us book a taxi for the next day. Nice and comfortable room for the price.

Ideal extension to my cruise holiday which fully enhanced my trip.

Ideal location pre and post cruise, good choice of restaurants nearby and close to all local attractions. Friendly, helpful staff. Ability to store luggage early in the day was extremely helpful. Tea/ coffee/ water in room, availability of items such as hairdryer and iron also helpful even though I didn’t use them (good to know for future). Room spotless. Taxi booking service also helpful. Thank you !

Lovely Pub with good beer and good rooms to stay

Fantastic Cask Marque pub with rooms. Good pint of London Pride on cask. Room was spacious with all needs and the shower/bathroom was just right. If we are ever in Southampton again in the future then I will book with The Grapes. Handy for the Ferry Port and Southampton Central railway station only a 25 minute walk or 8 minutes in a taxi.

Pleasant

Place is great but only problem (they couldn’t help or be blamed) was heatwave caused room to be sauna temperature and no air con! Hard to sleep in a sauna and as top floor, window did t open.

The Grapes is a comfortable stay in a great location (especially for cruise patrons).

Our stay was great here and it met our needs for our overnight stay after a cruise. The staff was amazing, friendly and accommodating. The only complaint we had was the rooms were very hot - there didn't seem to be any central air conditioning, only fans. I didn't remember this being listed in the info, but I could have just missed it. Everything else about our stay was great.

Perfect location, cheap and friendly. Only downside are there are stairs to carry you suitcases up but not a problem for us and the loud noises from the bars below but they finished up around midnight so was ok. They also supply earplugs

Very very nice

Perfectly situated in a great part of Southampton The pub is beautiful. I’m almost tempted on the next visit not to tell my Soton friends I’m here and just read books and drink beer in a comfy chair. Room was very cosy and checking in was a breeze (I was a little early and had to wait with a Guinness, oh no) One great detail. It’s often hard to have electrical sockets in the right place in these old buildings so the cluster on the bedside table was appreciated. Really impressed with The Grapes
