Beechwood Lodge - B

Central Location, clean bright home. We had a fantastic saty here

Perfect for our needs

A lovely place to stay. The Lodge was very clean and spacious. The location was perfect as it was only a couple minutes walk to hotels, shops and bars. The host was very friendly. Would definitely stay there again.

I wanted to leave this review several months ago when we stayed there; not sure why the reminder didn't come till now. This was an okay place to stay, in a location on our route, and it was available last minute when we booked. The rooms, beds etc were fine. I don't remember anything else positive to say. It's next to a hotel with a bit of noise, and bright lights from the street. Not a nice location in town, but not bad either.

Because this was a last-minute booking, the hosts were not alert to receive it, and when we arrived, we had to wait nearly an hour for someone to come and give us the key. The hosts were not answering calls. The guests in the neighbouring apartment put us in touch with them in the end. The lady host was out, but said her husband would deliver the key. I asked if there's any milk in the fridge (= no they do not provide any 'welcome pack'), but her husband would grab some for us. I was there with my kids, we were all ready for an early night, and we were fed up and confused as to why there were no keys or way of getting in. The guy eventually arrived with the key, later than the lady had promised, and with no milk. It was just a ball-ache experience, and the only bad accommodation experience out of our whole week travelling around Ireland. I'm sure the owners have good reasons for not being on-call 24/7, which is fine. I wouldn't fancy it myself. But it doesn't sit well with offering accommodation availability 24/7 via online platforms.
