A True Hidden Gem in Bali – We Felt Like Part of the Family! ❤️🌴 We spent three unforgettable nights at Makna Homestay and Spa, and honestly, we couldn’t have wished for a better experience! This beautiful family-run homestay is something truly special. From the very first moment, everyone was incredibly warm, friendly, and welcoming. We genuinely felt at home here – and that’s not just something we say! You can feel the love, care, and dedication this wonderful family puts into everything they do. One experience perfectly describes what kind of people run this place. I was struggling with serious back problems during our stay. Koma, the lovely owner, who also offers massages herself, could have simply recommended her own services. Instead, she personally took me to a local chiropractor who was able to help me. She genuinely cared about my well-being rather than making money. That kind of kindness is priceless, and I will never forget it. ❤️ We stayed in a beautiful two-bedroom apartment with breathtaking views. We were travelling with a small child, and we felt very comfortable and safe thanks to the secure railings. The apartment was lovely, spacious, and perfect for our family. And the views? Absolutely spectacular! We visited some of the fancy restaurants across the valley, but honestly, we preferred the view from our own accommodation! The breakfast was another highlight of our stay. Every morning, we simply ordered what we wanted via WhatsApp, and everything was freshly prepared for us. Absolutely delicious and such a wonderful way to start the day! The homestay also has a beautiful pool, offers massages, scooter rentals, laundry services, and pretty much everything you might need. And if you need something extra, this amazing family will do their best to help. We even needed to get a backpack repaired, and they happily arranged that for us. Nothing was ever too much trouble!

The staff and family were 10/10. Komang and koko in particular made a huge effort to make us comfortable and to be kind wherever possible. Note *** I think in reviews I read prior to stating - people are saying “Makna was lovely and like a mother” - but it is Komang running this accom - and she is delightful! Makna is the name of hotel. All the staff were super friendly and warm. The view at this property was amazing, it felt homely - waking up to a peaceful surrounds, farming life and the sound of nature was perfect. We really enjoyed our massages too & Brekky was generous and tasty.

We liked it all. The smaller size of the accommodation was a nice touch, but if you want more privacy and space - that might impact you. This is great accommodation for a person staying alone, as it’s cosy, however I stayed with 5 other friends - so we had 3 of the rooms. The view and energy at this place was stunning! Totally recommend it!

Our family of 2 adults and 2 children had a terrific stay with Makna Homestay and Spa in a village right outside of Sidemen. We booked the whole house (4 bedrooms over 2 floors) for 4 nights. The location is wonderful with a panoramic view over the valley and the Rice Terrace (especially great at sunrise), with Mouth Angun in the west. The place is in a village with very nice people and a few small convenience stores and restaurants within walking distance. The entrance to the Rice Terrace itself is a 10-15 walk as well. We did not go on any car trips and just stayed in the area (we found enough good things to do) but you can easily pursue more adventure. The house itself has spacious rooms and was very clean throughout our stay, including the bathrooms and the immaculate pool, which was really nice after a day exploring. The hosts are extremely friendly and helpful. They were very welcoming at all times; every our small wish was granted. We enjoyed the included breakfast every day and it was really great; in particular, smoothie bowl is recommended! On our last day, we had to leave at 5 a.m. for an early flight, and the hosts prepared a boxed breakfast for us to bring on our journey, and we didn't even think of it ourselves! Also, they threw in a complementary 1 hour of terrific relaxing massage per person, by very skilled masseuses, absolutely extraordinary! In summary, we had a wonderful stay with Komang and her staff, and would highly recommend Makna Homestay and Spa anytime!

There were some noises from the village at times, roosters and such, but it's part of the charm and you can sleep through it.

Everything was perfect. Amazing view and surroundings. So calm and peaceful. The staff was lovely. You can easily rent a motorbike or organize a ride to see local surroundings through the staff. They offer rides to and from the airport as well. They even gave us a free massage. We would definitely stay again.
