Not a pleasant experience.

The location is quite good. It’s close to the boat station and really convenient if you are travelling between 2 islands by boat.

The service was very disappointing. The man working at reception was not friendly at all and did not seem like someone you could approach for help or guidance. They overbooked my bed and woke me up early in the morning. Staff entered the room with a new guest and her luggage and asked me to vacate, even though I still had a few nights remaining on my booking. I was barely dressed at the time, which made the situation extremely uncomfortable and unprofessional. They also do not allow slippers inside, yet the toilets were not clean at all. The floors were constantly wet, smelly, and unhygienic, possibly with urine on the ground. It was impossible to walk in the toilet barefoot in those conditions. I ended up using the toilet at a nearby gym instead.

Average stay

Its next to the Koh Tao pier. 7/11 and other cafes close by. The room is decent. However, the lack of a locker to store bag felt unsafe. A small balcony to dry clothes.

The washroom area was clean. But the shower area had things falling off, like metal hooks to place clothes, the shower horse etc. it has a bar on the roof top so if your on the top bunker - no sleep till bar closes as the footsteps reverb in rooms below.

Be careful

The hostel is in perfect location, the beds are really comfortable and have a bit of space beside them in each cubicle to store your things which is really helpful. The toilets and showers are clean also

When we arrived, I told the girl on reception my booking name and that I had booked for 4 people but 2 people were 5 mins away. The girl said this was fine and showed us to the side of reception where we could leave our bags as it was too early to check in. (This area is about 5 steps from reception and very clearly visible). When our friends arrived we told them to leave their bags where we had been told. As they did this a man ran out from reception and started screaming at them saying “who are you? Who said you could put your bags there? Why are you here?” Considering it’s a hostel reception I think you could guess why they are there? My friends said I told them to set their bags there and he became very aggressive and rude shouting “is she the owner? No! Why would you listen to her? You have to ask me can you leave your things not her! She’s not the owner!” It was so rude and condescending and embarrassing as there were quite a lot of people in reception. The girl I had checked in with told the man she had told us it was okay but he was still being rude and aggressive. Nice hostel facilities but just make sure you ask permission before setting your 30kg backpack down where all the other backpacks are apparently !!!! 🙄

Affiliated with a good diving school but the hostel is not recommended

You walk directly on the beach when you step outside. Only the main road with restaurants is 30 minutes walk. The diving course of Scuba club was amazing and well arranged.

I didn’t even get a proper blanket, it was only a fleece of 0,50mX1,5m so way to small. The facilities are mixed but it was clean. The rooms are super noisy.

Epic view, solid vibes, worth a landing here.

Staying at Scuba Square Hostel is a ‘no-brainer’. Best location, literally on the beach, housing a stunning sea-breeze from the common area seats and beanbags, but above all - the best vibes. Priceless. The staff here are abundant in kindness and chill. They will go above and beyond to accommodate any specified need or additional request. Rajar in particular is found to say ‘no problem, brother’ in the most warm way to any request little or large, and for me he epitomises the overall welcome found at Scuba Square Hostel. I found the fellow travellers here to be mainly divers and free spirits, very respectful and not a crowd who are up loud and partying. As a solo female traveller I felt not only safe but cosy and ‘at home’ amongst a tribe. On another practical level, the hostel is less than 100m from the pier which, on an island where there are few and very expensive taxis, will save you precious Baht on transport to and from your accommodation!!

I chose an air conditioned dorm room. The room itself is adequate, basic but nice. The air conditioning was only permitted for use however between 7pm and 10pm. The peak heat of the day is between 1-5pm so this meant that daytime use of the dorm room was impossible, for relaxing. This is the only major flaw of my time here. Air conditioning restrictions are common on Koh Tao but never as extreme as this was.

Great hostel for diving

Great location right beside the pier. Around many cafes, restaurants, dive centres, and even a rooftop bar right above. And it faces the sunset right on the beach! Very helpful and friendly staff - at the reception and housekeeping. Bunks are very spacious and comfortable. Building seems newly built, so everything is in good condition and the staff keep it very clean. Part of Scuba Club dive center, so it's really easy to organize dives which depart and return right at the hostel.

Aircon in the room is only on 7pm-11am, and it gets reallyyy hot in the day that it's not possible to rest in the room in the day. But the staff are very nice and will help switch it on for short hours if you ask nicely. WiFi doesn't reach inside the dorm if you're in the further end of the rooms.

A very good quality hostel, price and facilities are great, Raja was a friendly and welcoming as well as the other staff. Very happy about my stay here, it had a great veiw of the sunset and beach ⛱️ 🌅 Secluded bed pods with curtains so you can have you own privacy And they can tekk you and book scuba diving and boats to leave

Nice hostel by the beach with some privacy and clean bathroom

The hostel is right in front of the beach. The guy at the reception was absolutely amazing and assisted with the snorkel mask and have been very nice with me all the time. I highly recommend the place. Shower/ toilet areas always spotless clean.

They only provide a towel if you pay 50baht and they do not accept any card payments.

Buena ubicación si tienes maletas que cargar y con una vista espectacular. El lugar siempre estaba limpio y el ambiente es amigable.

Para llegar al centro con comercios y restaurantes son aprox. 30 minutos caminando. Pero para salir desde ahí a otras playas, queda bien ubicado, aunque en moto lo logras todo.

El hostel está muy bien ubicado, al lado del puerto, de las escuelas de buceo y de la playa. Tiene baños limpios, camas cómodas y habitaciones espaciosas.

El aire acondicionado lo apagan a las 10 de la mañana y lo encienden a las 7 de la tarde, así que si quieres echarte una siesta hace demasiado calor. En las habitaciones faltan unas pequeñas baldas o estanterías para dejar tus cosas.

Recomendable al 100% la ubicación, limpieza personal y calidad precio inmejorable. Las camas son muy cómodas y los baños están súper limpios. Está muy cerquita del ferry a pie de playa y a 15 minutos andando de Sairee beach. El personal es encantador en especial Rajar que hace todo lo posible por ayudarte siempre con una sonrisa. Lo recomiendo
