The location alone makes Hotel Rosalba worth considering. Situated directly opposite the Rocca Paolina, a couple of escalator rides take you up to Piazza d'Italia, and the Fontana Maggiore and the lively Corso Vannucci are just five to ten minutes on foot. The nearby Minimetrò station at Pincetto offers a scenic ten-minute ride down to the Fontivegge train station — ideal for day trips or arrival.
The hotel wears its age honestly, but this is no deal-breaker. What it lacks in polish it more than compensates for through the exceptional hospitality of Mr. Omayada at reception — a true one-man show. He takes breakfast orders the evening before, delivers them to the room in the morning, and handles every request with patience and a genuine smile. His presence transforms what might otherwise be an unremarkable stay into a memorable one.
Facilities are basic but entirely appropriate for a two-star property. There is no lift, which was not a concern for me but is worth bearing in mind. A thoughtful touch: a small refrigerator near the entrance offers bottled water at supermarket prices, available even late at night — a small but telling sign that guests' interests are kept in mind.
For travellers who value location, character, and personal service over luxury fittings, Hotel Rosalba delivers quietly and reliably.

Das Zimmer selbst ist im Keller gelegen, hat trotzdem ein nettes Fenster nach außen gehabt. Das Frühstück ist ein Croissant oder Sandwich sowie ein Kaffee und einen Saft, den man an der Zimmertür überreicht bekommt.
Die Ankunft war ein bisschen chaotisch. Als Check-In-Zeit wurde 15:00 Uhr angegeben. Genau um diese Uhrzeit war ich da, sonst aber leider niemand. Weil die Haustür offen stand, bin ich zumindest in die Lobby hinein gekommen war sehr gut war, weil es geregnet hat. Vor der Rezeption hängen insgesamt fünf verschiedene Telefonnummern, die man anrufen sollte, wenn man einchecken möchte. Unter keiner der Nummern war jemand zu erreichen. Per WhatsApp hat mir dann eine Person mitgeteilt, dass sie gerade in Japan ist und den Code für die Haustüre geschickt. Der hat mir aber nichts gebracht, weil ich, wie erwähnt, ohnehin schon in der Lobby war. Eine halbe Stunde später ist dann – unabhängig von meinen Bemühungen, jemanden zu erreichen und auf mich aufmerksam zu machen – ein Mitarbeiter ins Hotel gestapft, und hat mich eingecheckt. Ohne Entschuldigung oder dergleichen. Ich verbuche es als italienisches Naturell und bin deshalb nicht böse. Hätte ich weniger Zeit gehabt, wäre ich mit Kind unterwegs gewesen oder hätte vor der Tür im Regen warten müssen, dann wäre das schon ärgerlich gewesen.
