Guesthouse Alpinum

This cute little guesthouse felt like living local. The host was very hospitable. There is a shared kitchen, but I only saw another person there one time during the whole stay. I used the refrigerator for my beer and never had any problems. The host leaves a small portion of fresh milk from his cows! There are also a lot of spices, tea, coffee, and other things provided in the kitchen. The room was clean and comfortable, not exceedingly large but good enough. The view of the surrounding mountains was wonderful! The location facilitates walking to trails that lead to the Hallstatt Waterfall, which I recommend for more great views and to get away from -some- of the tourists. However, if tourists are your thing, it is a very easy walk to Seestrasse along the western shore of Hallstattersee, where all the tourist activity is located. Find the steps behind the Marktplatz and walk up for some great views (don't stop at the parking lot :). I recommend if you can, to go around the south end of the lake and find the little park there where you can swim in the Hallstattersee, and to go further around to Obertraun and take the Dachstein Sielbahn up to Krippenstein for even more spectacular views.

There is nothing really to complain about. If there were any very minor complaints, perhaps the television is one of them. I could not get it to pull in local channels, but this is probably because we were surrounded by mountains, or because I did not know how to do it correctly. This was completely secondary because I did not need television with such beautiful scenery around me. It was also capable of streaming services. If you are driving, the narrow streets can be very tight. I met a car coming head on when I was trying to drive out for a day trip, and he would not yield, so I had to reverse all the way back to the parking spot at the guesthouse to let him by.

Vorallem die überaus herzlichen Gastgeber lobe ich sehr. Die himmlisch-ruhige Lage fernab vom Trubel der Menschenmassen hat mir besonders gut getan. Das Wohnen bei den Gastgebern war ein Traum, alles da was ich so gebraucht habe. Die Ganze Natur vor der Haustür' zum Wandern, Spazieren, zur Ruhe kommen und einfach alles schöne an der frischen Luft genießen zu dürfen. Unvergesslicher Aufenthalt für mich.
