Pension Bergfried

The hotel is very beautiful and cozy overall. To get there, you must cross the entire village from the dock where the boat drops you off, you enjoy getting to know Hallstatt along the way, but it's a bit inconvenient if you're carrying suitcases. The room is spacious, and the bed is very comfortable; the bathroom is small but clean and fully equipped. They clean your room and change the towels daily—excellent! You have hardly any contact with the staff, but they welcomed me kindly. The hotel is located next to the funicular station that takes you up to the salt mine and just steps away from the lake; the setting is wonderful.

Since there’s no elevator, you have to carry your luggage up the stairs, and no one offers to help—it’s terrible! In my case, I was only a couple of months out of surgery, and my room was quite far away; I had to haul my suitcases all the way to the far end of the second floor.

Comfortable room, with a private balcony. Very clean. Ideal for relaxing after a long day of walking and cave touring. TV provided. Staff friendly and helped with my luggage, as they didn't have a lift. Quiet location away from the touristy central area.

Breakfast was very expensive at 18 euros per person. Quite noisy at times with people in neighbouring rooms coming in and out, perhaps there could be more soundproofing in the walls.

Location, few steps to get the village. Big car park and free. Room was clean.

The shower doors make it hard to get in for large people.

Room was okay
