    This was my second stay at the Holiday Inn Express near Stansted Airport, and I chose it again because it is extremely convenient when you have an early flight. The hotel itself was excellent. The room was clean and comfortable, the bed was very comfortable, and everything you need is provided, including the kettle with tea and coffee, as well as an iron and ironing board. I genuinely have nothing to complain about regarding the room or the facilities. Unfortunately, this time my experience at reception was very disappointing. After checking in, I was told that my room was on the ground floor. I went looking for it but could not find the way, so I returned to reception to ask for directions. There were other guests waiting, and when the receptionist, Michelle, had finished assisting one guest, I briefly stepped forward simply to ask her to point me in the right direction. I immediately apologized to the guest who was waiting and explained that I only needed some information. What disappointed me was the way Michelle treated me. Her attitude was extremely cold and condescending. Rather than simply explaining where the room was, she pointed in the direction with a raised eyebrow and a look that made me feel as though I had done something wrong by asking. There were also no clear signs or arrows from the reception area indicating where the ground-floor rooms were, so I don’t think my question was unreasonable.

    To be honest, the rooms are a little small for the price but they are comfortable and the aircon is good, which is a bonus as you can't open the window. Breakfast really good. Just two juice choices though. Staff well-mannered and competent

    The aircon was ineffective and the room was not just warm but also looked and felt tired. There was a fan provided, but that was very loud when on and also ineffective in cooling down the room. The shower had very little pressure and there’s no fan in the bathroom to get rid of the steam (or smells). The bed was ok but the lighting in the room was either very bright or non existent. Breakfast good, early continental or grab and go very convenient! All in all very disappointing!
