Julie, thank you so much for an absolutely lovely stay at Rookery Cottage. We couldn't ask for nicer accommodation, everything was perfect. The cottage was cozy, warm and clean and had everything we needed for a much-needed break. We really appreciated the generous welcome pack which you left us on our arrival, as did George our cocker spaniel! Once again Julie, thank you, your hospitality was amazing, and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend your accommodation to our friends and family. We wished we could have stayed longer!

Exceptional host! Julie has thought of everything. You need for absolutely nothing. Huge bed, crisp bedsheets. Amazing welcome pack for us and doggos. Exceptional value for money.
Tip: Ordered takeaway from Cinnamon and it was delicious.
If you have adventurous dogs, the yard isn't totally secure. But not really an issue. We kept them on lead and all was fine.

The cottage was warm and welcoming in a lovely location. We were greeted by the owner, Julie who showed us the heating system and all the utilities. There was also a beautiful basket of goodies and a bottle of fizz on arrival and toiletries provided for bathroom use. The cottage was really cosy with lots of soft blankets and the bed was really comfy. We had a fabulous stay.
I can't think of one thing.

We can't recommend this cottage enough - it has everything you would need for a comfortable stay, including a dishwasher and washing machine. It was so cold out when we stayed there, but the heating kept us warm and cosy. Julie was an excellent host and made sure there was a supply of treats when we arrived. The location is great with just a short drive to Monmouth, Abergavenny (excellent Thursday flea market) and lakeside walks around the Forest of Dean. The Ostrich pub is just a couple of minutes walk and the church opposite is well worth a look in too. There's so much to do in the area that this is the 2nd time we've stayed there and will definitely be back.

Very well appointed with everything you could possibly need when away for a short break. There was milk, tea, coffee, biscuits a bottle of bubbly and chocolates - AMAZING! The bed was very comfortable.

Julie is an exceptional host. The cottage has clearly been very thoughtfully put together, I had everything I could have needed and more. It was super comfortable, peaceful and well placed for exploring the area. The outside space was a good size and well enclosed, it was lovely to know my dog was safe pottling about out there. Id go back in a heartbeat.

Great location and very comfortable. Nice touch with the Prosecco and snacks.

Lovely location, very well fitted kitchen.
The cottage smells mouldy - clearly evident damp in the lounge (photo attached). It was warm so we kept the doors open to combat the smell. If I had a mouldy smell in my house I would fix it - I really don't understand the letting out a property with damp/mould!
Nice outdoor area at the back but impossible to use as the cushions were permanently soaking wet (photo attached) - the couch type outdoor furniture is a dubious idea with all the rain this area gets, wrought iron or wooden benches would be far better. Summary - I would not stay here again because of mouldy smell.

What a beautiful cottage and in an absolutely stunning location. Perfect for our little getaway as a group of friends for a wedding at Clearwell Castle. It was beautifully clean and the host was so accommodating and inviting. It was a homely and charming cottage with plenty of amenities. The attention to detail into making it a comfortable stay was immensely appropriate. Honestly a truly great stay. Thank you so much for having us.
Nothing. We had a lovely time.

When we made our booking, Julie, the host, contacted us to find out if we had any specific requirements and she was willing to answer questions regarding local activities. The property was comfortable and in a lovely location. The welcome basket was fantastic and very much appreciated on our arrival.

It was a pleasant surprise to be met by the host on arrival and the welcome pack was very generous. There is plenty of parking, and the living area was bigger than expected. There is a private area of the garden where we could enjoy the birdsong, near the stream. It is well equipped, clean and comfortable.
A problem with the heating was quickly and efficiently resolved.
The bathroom is quite compact.
Nothing to do with the property, but we found the pub closed for a private event when we had hoped to eat out one night.

Julie welcomed me on arrival, which was a lovely touch. The cottage was lovely and comfortable with everything you could need: the treat basket was too tempting to refuse.
The bathroom has cold slate floors and it would've been nice to be warned to take flipflops.

We’ve just returned from a weekend away at the Rookery Cottage and we’re already looking forward to visiting again.
It had absolutely everything we needed and was in a perfect idyllic setting. As a family with a 12 week old baby, convenience and a gentle adventure were key and the Wye Valley didn’t disappoint ❤️

The Rookery is a lovely place to stay, it has everything you could need and is beautiful inside. The kitchen is so well set up and stocked, probably the best we have ever come across in a holiday cottage! The outside area is lovely with the stream running past, and so many birds around. Julie left us a lovely snack basket as well as milk etc (and was very kind to check for dietary requirements beforehand and provide dairy-free milk for us). We would have stayed longer had it been available! We will definitely look at staying again next time we are visiting the area

Comfortable, clean and warm property. It had everything we needed and more for our two-night stay. The welcome pack of goodies to eat/drink was more than ample. Very generous host! Bed and sofa were comfortable and all appliances we used worked well. Lots of local information provided. We met Julie on arrival; she was most welcoming and helpful. Lovely location. We'd definitely return there if in the area again.

Lovely cottage in every way. Extremely well equipped. We never thought of anything we needed that wasn't on hand. Hostess gracious, friendly and always willing to help. Excellent!
Nothing! It was ideal for our quiet time away. Weather didn't matter as it was always pleasant to spend time indoors. Warm, welcoming and cosy. No, really can't think of anything negative.

A great location with surrounding fields, trees and stream. Easy to access walks and local town down the road.
Clean, cosy and nicely decorated accommodation.
A fully stocked kitchen and a lovely treat hamper to enjoy.

the accommodation was very comfortable and had everything you needed for your stay. The owner met us as we arrive which was a nice touch.
The bed room was a little small if you need the beds set up as singles, as that made it difficult to get in the bathroom.
