The Apple Store is a self contained annexe to 'Old Kiln House', which is an 18th century farmhouse and cider orchard. Situated on 'Great Doward, a hill of mixed farm and woodland set in the lower Wye Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the property has extensive views across the Wye Valley. Numerous excellent walks begin right from the doorstep and King Arthur's Cave can be seen and easily visited from the Apple Store. Great to be welcomed by our host and shown through the property. Also enjoyed the welcome by the sheep. Very happy staying at the Apple Store. Able to relax in the quiet surroundings. Amenities were excellent. Thankful that the manual for the washing machine was available. Also having a clothes airer made getting our clothes dry. Would recommend this property highly.

The kitchen was well equipped with thoughtful touches that made self-catering very easy. Attractive garden with outside seating and lovely views. Bedrooms surprisingly spacious with good hanging space. Clear and regular contact withe delightful hosts made for an enjoyable stay

We and our Red Setter had really three wonderful weeks in The Apple Store. Thanks for that. Everything you need is in place and we enjoyed walking in The Doward and down to the Wye river. We only can highly recommend The Apple Store. There are some many aweful place around to visit and most impressive the west coast of Wales, the Black Mountains and for sure Bristol ...

Our party of 3 adults stayed for 10 nights. The property was very clean, had modern appliances which all worked well and plenty of information on local attractions, walks, restaurants etc. It had a very nice garden area for sitting out in this peaceful location which was near to local towns and walking areas. We had a great time there.

The house is in a really beautiful spot with a great view from the garden and had everything we needed. The hosts were friendly, responsive and helpful. The only reasons for not giving five stars are that as a taller person the double bed is quite short. Also due to its former use as an apple store there isn't much natural light that comes into the house at all. The surroundings are stunning though and it's an excellent base to explore the Wye Valley with great walks from the doorstep. We had an enjoyable week!

This was a very clean, cosy, well furnished cottage (previously an apple store) in the midst of glorious countryside. It has its own private garden looking out over meadows and woodland. The kitchen was very well-equipped indeed and the only thing I could have wanted were extra tea towels as I’m a very old fashioned washer upper! I know Sarah (who was most friendly and welcoming) would have provided some more if I’d thought to ask.I would unhesitatingly recommend this lovely place, with its two gentle resident sheep (in the paddock that is!). It’s ideal for someone on their own, or for a family, and if you like walking there seem to be an infinite number of nature reserves, bridle paths and footpaths abounding all around.

The Apple Store was exactly as described and we are likely to return.A beautiful rental with some interesting and quirky features that I appreciated, such as the old school desk. I also appreciated things like the books and DVDs.The bedding is to die for, just stunning. Very comfortable outdoor seating, which probably needs a photo update so that people can see what they'll be reclining in when taking in the outstanding views. The owner is friendly, helpful and accommodating and the accommodation was immaculate.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night break. The cottage is one of the nicest we've stayed in, really well equipped and with some lovely, thought-out homely touches e.g. lovely reed difusers, Helpful laundry basket and sweet key hooks. Would definitely visit gin!

We loved The Apple Store, it was so cozy and warm and has everything you needed. The owners had put up xmas lights which was a nice touch, too. We spent a few nights including NYE and had a fantastic time. The owners were super organised and sent really clear instructions on how to get to The Apple Store. There are fantastic walks nearby and good places to eat with a view. Lots to do and with 2 teenage boys, the WiFi was sufficient! It was proper escapism and we would definitely return!

Great little place to stay, lots of character & charm situated on the side of a quiet valley.
Although didn’t spend too much time there during the day as fishing the Wye was our reason for being there. Sadly the fish weren’t as welcoming as the accommodation.

The Apple Store is a lovely little cottage, well equipped, warm and cosy and in a stunning setting looking out across the fields full of sheep. We were lucky enough to have sunny weather and it we could sit out in the back garden enjoying the peace. We would definitely stay again if we come to this area. Sarah and Dom were very friendly and helpful during our stay.

The Apple Store is located in a beautiful setting, surrounded by fields and (very friendly) sheep. Communication with the owners was excellent and their response to emergencies (we had a brief power cut) was rapid. There's lots to do in this area and we would not hesitate in returning to the Apple Store. Thank you Sarah!

Property was nice but refrigerator door was sprung and did not close tightly so we had to put something in front of it to try to keep it shut...the freezer area was totally full of ice and dripped moisture on anything on the top shelf...
Upstairs storage heaters in the bedrooms did not work at all and were cold to the touch at all times so the bedrooms were cold.
The upstairs bathroom sink leaked under the bowl and water ran onto the floor when you emptied the sink after washing your heads.
Just nuisance problems that need fixing.

So peaceful, surrounded by fields of sheep. Walks right on your doorstep, lots of history. Beautiful quaint towns Ross on Wye and Abergavenny. Take a boat trip down the Wye from Symonds Yat East. The Apple Store cottage was so clean and comfy, we’ll definitely be back 🙏😊

We stayed here as part of our holiday and thoroughly enjoyed it. The location is perfect for exploring the area. The accommodation itself is fabulous and as described. If ever we're back in the area, we'll stay here again. Bonus was the fact that my son learned to ride his bike here and he loved the neighbours ie the two sheep... Thank you to the hosts for adding to our amazing summer holiday experience. J,J & D

Fantastic place to stay, unwind and be at one with nature! Not quite in the middle of nowhere but close enough. There are shops locally but we took what we needed for our stay so we could get away from everything. We ditched the car and walked everywhere. The forest is on your doorstep and a nature reserve just over the road.. Ideal place if you have dogs, enjoy walking and want to get away from daily life, just be aware of the hills. The house was cosy. A peaceful haven where you can sit outside and listen to the birds singing. My only criticism is the vrbo site, I went through the booking process at least four times and didn’t see where to add in dogs! The hosts were amazing though so we were able to pay on arrival for our four legged friends. This place is a definite must for those wanting to ditch the car!

I took my aunt away for a week to the Apple Store and we really enjoyed the peace and quiet. Sarah and Dom are great hosts. The cottage is warm and very comfortable. The local area is beautiful. We went to Monmouth, Abergavenny, symonds Yat and the sculpture Trail in The Forest of Dean and I walked down to Biblins and crossed the fabulous rope bridge. If you like walking there are loads of great walks locally and further a field. The only very small downside for us was my aunt not being able to use the shower due to the high step in and out with no handle to aid balance so after the first day she didn’t use it again. It didn’t spoil our enjoyment though and we would happily go there again.

It was good.

We were after some peace and quiet, time for family catch up and time outdoors with the dog. The location couldn't have been better, close to local nature reserves and places to wander. There was a lot of rain and flooding so we stuck to the bigger roads and more accessible areas but still had a fab time.
The cottage is clean, comfortable and has all the basic stuff you need for a trip away. The floorboards creek, the decor is a little old fashioned but it's an old barn, so that's part of the charm!
The views from outside are lovely. The hosts were friendly and helpful.
We will go back again.
