We would have no hesitation in recommending this cosy cottage as a great base for your adventures in the Forest of Dean and the Wye Valley and we look forward to returning again one day.

It was a great stay in a perfect cottage in a quiet part of Bream. Fully equipped kitchen with all the essentials and more. No dishwasher, but that was quite okay. Great beds. The free roaming sheep and the chicken were a nice extra. Jane, the host is very welcoming and knowledgeable about the area and the best places to go to. It is tucked away in a corner of Gloucestershire, but has some great walks in the beautiful Forest of Dean.

Easy to find and such a warm welcome. A beautiful cottage with everything you need. Whether you while away the hours watching the chickens foraging and dustbathing from the front garden, or enjoy the lovely walks from the doorstep, it is a wonderful location for a week away ..or longer.. as there is so much to see and do and the cottage is perfectly placed to explore. It was a priority, having dogs, that there were lots of shady walks nerar-by, we were not disappointed! The Colliers Trail explored Mallards Pike, Cannop Ponds, Speech House Lake and the Sculpture trail. Had a lovely meal at the Miners Arms, and some nice fish n chips from the local. Jane couldn't have done more for us. Such a lovely host. Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us!

The cottage, next door to the owner is a lovely property with constant sunshine in the private garden from sunrise to sunset. As we stayed during hot weather we took advantage of the BBQ.The stairs are rather steep.The host was very friendly and ensured our stay was comfortable.The location is lovely with a common in front, our neighbours comprised of many sheep and chickens freely wandering around, which enhanced our experience and as the community is quite small, their friendly inclusive attitude made us feel very much at home.It's a great location for visiting many attractions and local grown produce is readily available at farmers markets, Taurus centre etc. There are a number of pubs in the area with a few within walking distance. The food at these pubs is good too.Would highly recommend this lovely friendly location, tucked away in Lydney

We had a lovely few days at the cottage. It was comfy and cosy and had everything we needed.Jane and Malcolm were lovely, friendly and had lots of free range hens, who our son fell in love with! Perfectly situated for walks or bike rides in the forest, which was literally just out the front door! Just lovely!

Was great to wake up with the sheep and chicken roaming freely on the common right outside the cottage gates. Grandchildren loved to see them. The most comfortable cottage we have ever stayed at! Log burner is fantastic but very warm heating too so with the comfy lounge furniture it was hard not to relax! Location is perfect for walking with the forest literally 50metres away. Cottage very well equipped. The lovely owner Jane is next door if needed but left us alone to relax throughout the stay.We will be back for Christmas next year hopefully! Thankyou Jane, fabulous break from start to finish!

Great little cosy cottage in a good location. Real log fire in lounge but also has central heating. Stairs are bit on the steep side but then you get that in cottages of this age . Lovely peaceful rural property. Very comfortable lots of little touches which we appreciated. Hosts couldn't have been nicer. I was surprised to find it was a downstairs bathroom as i hadnt noted it on the description. I bit tricky for those of us who need to go at night! However it didnt spoil our stay. The dogs loved watching the animals on the common.and easy access to woodland. Will definitely be returning

We had a great weekend at Oakdene it’s a quaint , quirky cottage in lovely surroundings . Waking up in the morning looking out over the hills and forest is fab. The cottage has all the basics required, it’s not super modern but it is cosy and comfortable and on the doorstep for all the Forest of Dean has to offer for mountain biking and walking . Jane and Malcolm are great host and make you really welcome. We loved going out in the morning and seeing the local sheep on the green and the chickens from next door. The only 2 points I would make are if you have trouble with stairs or a downstairs bathroom is an issue then the property may not be for you. Great garden out the back, sun trap in the afternoon.

It's a cosy cottage build in 1892. Don't expect a modern look , it's old with a modern touch. We stayed a fortnight here and it was a pretty homecoming base. Jane is a wonderful host and can't do enough for you.

We spent Thurs-Mon in Jane and Malcolm’s lovely cottage. The location is incredible and we were blessed with some fantastic weather! The cottage had everything we needed. The sheep and chickens outside are brilliant and our little one had so much fun watching them. Our dog has been on some incredible walks in the woods on the doorstep and at some of the tourist areas nearby. We’ve had such an amazing stay and can’t that Jane enough for being a wonderful host! The property was immaculate and well equipped. The host, Jane was extremely friendly and helpful. A quiet peaceful spot with chickens and sheep wondering around on the common land outside the enclosed garden. My only criticism is that the staircase was steep and difficult for me but it didn’t spoil our stay. I shall recommend to friends.

We had a fantastic time in this cottage. The sheep and chickens are walking freely around the cottage, but can't access the garden/cottage through the gate. This makes it perfect for small children and pets as well, because they can't just run into the low-traffic street. Everything needed was provided, even bed linen, towels, some cleaning supplies etc. Wifi was fully operational and stable (important for the children) and Netflix, Youtube and Twitch could be connected to the smart-tv. USB-ports are in the wall of the living room as well, to charge any device. The kitchen provides an oven as well as microwave, a refrigerator and freezer and of course a toaster and kettle. The bathroom has a bath and a seperate shower and the bedrooms are large. The cottage is close to the forest as well, so perfect for a walk. The owners were very kind and welcoming and showed us around when arriving. They gave some sightseeing tips in the neighbourhood and since they are living in the house next to this cottage, so it's easy to get in contact when anything is needed. Thank you very much, Jane and Malcolm, you were part of making our holiday a wonderful experience!

One of the very best properties we have stayed in.Jane and Malcolm, owners, were so lovely, couldn’t do enough for us, but left us to our own devices, as well. So homely, warm, comfortable, clean, one of the best ever places , allow dogs, which is a bonus, very reasonable rates, too, comfy beds, kitchen well equipped, very peaceful, lovely views, we will definitely book again, wonderful.
