Beautiful location and friendly hosts

The location is amazing. So much to do with wonderful views. Hosts were very friendly and the fresh eggs you can buy delicious!

A lovely find

Well thought out lodge, everything you need, nice little extra touches. Charming set up, friendly host.

If I'm being picky a few extra hooks in the bathroom and a toiletries holder in the shower (which was excellent) would be great.

Birch Lodge at The Rock

Lovely place to stay. Walks in the Forest of Dean right on the doorstep. Hosts were very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed, happy to chat through local places to eat etc. A very full file on local places to visit. Ice cream available to buy at The Rock. Lovely patio to sit out and enjoy the view

We were met by Sally who made us feel welcome on arrival. The accommodation was spotlessly clean, well-equipped and comfortable. We had a very enjoyable stay.

A wonderful holiday

We loved the location.. The views were stunning. We could walk in the forest to get to view point at Symonds Yat Rock. Local convenience store is walkable. Sally, Beth and Anthony made our stay perfect. They were happy to chat to us. Their pets also made us welcome!

Very pleasant and friendly hosts. Lots of thoughtful extras including maps, bird guides and binoculars. And milk in the fridge. EV charger was a huge bonus for us. The views of the hills are stunning.

A lovely few days away in the Wye valley we were able to your around and went into Wales as we were travelling on a moto

The lodges are set in a surrounding garden which belongs to the owners house with your own private patio that looks out over stunning countryside

We loved the views and the design of the lodge worked very well giving you the best of the views around . The lodge was very clean and the hosts were very helpful and friendly . A bonus to have new laid eggs to buy .

It's the perfect place to stay in the Forest of Dean!

Everything about The Rock was superb. Our cottage was perfect!! Everything was immaculate and inviting, with lovely little touches here and there that really went above and beyond. My kids absolutely loved it, as did I! The hosts were very friendly and helpful, as well as patient with my kids and their constant wish to play with the dogs :)

Great base, but needs a lot of attention in the grounds

Great location if you are a walker , views were fabulous - hosts nice, they even left a Birthday card for my husband and some Prosecco

When we first turned up I thought oh no where have we come to as the site was very messy, looks uncared for. Once inside , the actual room was nice and well equipped, however the shower heads needed to be cleaned.(looking at other reviews this has often been mentioned so why has it not been sorted)The lock on bathroom door was not working and I got locked inside which was not nice . I always tidy up before I leave a property but this property expected you to take the rubbish out to the bin as well, I think this is going a bit far . The hosts have 5 dogs which are lovely and friendly,however every morning as we were sitting outside, they came outside right in front of us to do their business- surely the hosts could have taken them to their other field, a little off putting and unacceptable

Everything. Stand out is the beautiful location. Stunning views from the property. Peaceful location but not too far from everything you need. Would love to visit in the summer.

If I’m being really, really, picky….Emptying the bins in the property! Unfortunately they weren’t emptied by the previous people so the bins were fairly full when we arrived.

Cosy and compact but had everything we needed Maple Lodge had marvellous views across the valley which gave us a wonderful feeling of peace and quiet

The approach to the lodge was a bit untidy but gave the impression that there was some work being done and would probably be tidied when complete

Impeccable.

Beautifully clean, comfortable and spacious accommodation with the most fabulous view. Has all the essentials and some extras. Lovely to be provided with toiletries, washing up items, tea, coffee & milk, biscuits too! (Not all self catering accommodation provide the little extras and some charge a lot more). The quality of bedding and linen was excellent and sparkling clean. The location could not be better for accessing the Forest and all the attractions the area has to offer. The hosts also sell fresh duck and chicken eggs and delicious ice creams too, which were a bonus after a lengthy walk! Very friendly and helpful hosts and their dogs & cats were lovely too. I feel I should heap praise on this accommodation as they thoroughly deserve it.

Nice property well presented and modernised in lovely location.

Lovely property and location. The owners were very thoughtful and we had all we needed towels and sheets as well as dishwasher tablets and even soaps and hand lotion. The property was a short walk/bike ride to Symonds Yat rock.

Don't hesitate, just book!

A fantastic little cottage, with beautiful dog walks right out the front door. The place was spotless, quiet and the bed really comfy. The kitchen well equipped. Anthony & Sally were a pleasure to deal with and the tea/coffee, milk in fridge was very much appreciated. The towel, doggy bags and treats for Baloo was a lovely touch. I would definitely return to further explore the area, what a gem of a find. Thanks for a lovely stay, hope to see you again.

Exceptional

The accommodation was roomy, clean and comfortable. The area was very quiet but ideal if you like hiking/walking. So many walks available.

A little bit isolated and nearest pub was a short 15 minutes walk but along lanes with no paths so in middle of winter a little dangerous. Otherwise absolutely perfect.
