Rose Cottage Wye Valley AONB

Loved the location for what we had planned. Felt like a home away from home.

A few minor repairs needed - kitchen tap and front door when there’s a chance.

We arrived at the cottage at the time we had told Camille ,the cottage was left unlocked for us ,our hosts had given us bread butter ,jam ,apple juice ,milk and teas and coffees .Lovely surprise .The place was clean and tidy ,really comfortable. The beds were really good just like my mattress at home .Camille came over when we contacted her to help us open the dormer windows .The Cottage was situated in a village on a hill the views were superb ,there were pubs and restaurants not to far away .Plenty of places to go to so great location and easy to get to too .

The only think which we could have done with is hot water ,we tried running it with no avail ,we didn't want to ask as the information booklet said the hot water heater was always left on and they tried to run the house eco friendly .It didn't spoil our stay though

We loved everything about the cottage. It was very cozy, nicely decorated and had everything we needed. The owner even had homemade yummy bread waiting for us with lots of jam, butter, fresh milk and juice. It was a nice treat so thank you to Camille and Tom for your hospitality :) the beds were nice and comfy, relaxing shower , comfy sofas and a big fan to help keep it cool. It was very nice and chilly in the evenings with the windows open. We wished we could have stayed longer.

Location was isolated but gave access to what I wanted to visit, so fine.

Oh dear. For the second time in as many months my visit to the area has been tainted by low quality accomodation. Despite the owners claim that the property is pristine it was indeed far from it. It felt grubby from the moment we walked in and smelt like it too. Whilst the towels and bedding were acceptable the rest was far from it. The dust filled cobwebs in every corner, sticky kitchen units, cracked tiles, chipped worktop, dirty and mouldy shower. I could go on. I won't be recommending this premises. Charity shop utensils and furniture do not make for a lovely stay. And it wasnt cheap. In case I get asked why I didn't complain at the time, what would be the point in co frontation and would they have refurnished and decorated whilst I was there.....
