The bedroom was spacious, and there were adequate shared toilets. (There were maybe three or four other rooms in the place.) The shared kitchen had enough equipment that we could cook a simple meal, but there was also a dining place nearby.
There was a shop very close by, and a bus stop not much further away. An hour's walk can get you to the river mouth and the Collingwood memorial.
We didn't get to meet the host, although we did speak to him through the doorbell arrangement. Access was via a lockbox, but the details arrived only after we arrived. There needs to be some instructions on labelling food that belongs to guests or has been left behind for others.

The spacious room, good instructions to get into the place, lots of additional homely touches e.g. towels, tea bags etc.
Would be handy to have a washbasin in the room to wash teeth/hands etc.
