Mao Sapa trekking and homestay

Mama Mao and her family were incredible hosts who took us on beautiful hikes around Sapa and cooked us delicious meals.

I loved the location but you have to be prepared to hike.

Absolutely the best homestay in Sa Pa — in fact, our favourite homestay in our three months of travelling. We ended up extending on 2 occasions. The whole family are so warm, kind, and accommodating. We felt very at home and a part of the family. They are absolutely hilarious, and we shared so many laughs and late nights filled with happy water, playing Mama’s favourite games, where she shows no mercy! The pool is epic after a long day’s hike, and the bathrooms were clean, all with hot showers! The breakfasts and family dinners every night were delicious; we ate until we were full at such an affordable price. The rooms were small and cosy, with very comfortable beds and mosquito nets. Most have beautiful views of the mountains or gardens. We also did a hike with Mama Mao through the rice fields and bamboo forest, from town back to the homestay. It was beautiful, interactive, and a highlight of the trip. Nothing compares to the experience we had here. Thank you so much!!

Everything was perfect.

The lodges we stayed in were nice, the family that ran it were lovely and we had the added extra of trekking through the hills and rice fields which was fab (this is at a cost but well worth it). There was a village one too but had horrendous rain during night so that wasn’t really an option next day as would have been too dangerous/slippy. Breakfast was simple but lovely and evening meal was cooked for us which was fab (at a cost but well worth it - loads to eat.

Liked it all - first time done this sort of home stay and loved it. It is a steep incline so if you have mobility issues this wouldn’t be for you

De familieleden Mao zijn allemaal zo enorm hartelijk, gastvrij en behulpzaam. Ook de door hen georganiseerde wandeltochten zijn een hele mooie ervaring en supermooi.
