Lovely host, lovely property, just not clean.

Host is lovely. Very responsive, friendly and helpful. Property is in a great location and check/in and out was really easy. It’s dog friendly…but this is at an extra cost of £20 per dog, per stay. Bed huge and comfy. Lots of products in the bathroom which was a nice touch. Wine and popcorn on arrival.

It just wasn’t clean. The shower doors/glass hadn’t been cleaned and there was someone else’s shampoo/shower gel down it. Shower head was filthy and no shower mat. Only because hubby dropped the top off his aftershave in the bathroom did we discover the rest. As a surface clean, it’s ok. But clean it sadly isn’t and I’m gutted to be writing this. I own a cleaning business and I just don’t think the standard is acceptable. I think the host maybe needs to have a word with housekeeping. The oven had crumbs in it, so remnants of someone else’s dinner. No dishcloth or scourer. The bedroom had a pin on the floor (the type you use for clothes alterations) and I stood on it. This makes me question whether it was vacuumed or not. There was tea and coffee…but these were opened boxes and jars which makes me think they were left from previous guests. No sugar, no milk. At nearly £200 a night (including dog charge) I’d have expected more. Bring your own dishwasher tabs, and dishcloth. There is a tea towel. The only bathroom/toilet is via the master bedroom. Awkward if you’re going with anyone other than family. Also, to cross the landing you need to be fully dressed and no blinds or curtains at the window! Windows were dirty and cobwebby. Under bed had debris. Such a lovely property, and such a lovely host, but let down massively by housekeeping. For the cost this isn’t acceptable. There was mention of pastries for breakfast in an email, but I didn’t respond, so didn’t get any. That said, we did miss the first night due to personal circumstances, so they may well have been there and we weren’t. If so, I’d have appreciated this being communicated. Lastly, although the garden area is secure, it’s adjoined to the owners property, and not private. I read they had a dog, and mine are reactive pillocks, so this made me nervous. Thankfully they didn’t meet! I hate writing this, as some of it was so positive, but some not as much.

Really lovely cottage stay!

It was very clean and beautifully furnished! Everything was comfortable and functioned correctly. The check in was easy once we figured out where to go. The area is beautiful- the house is tricky to find but in a lovely area. It was very homey! Would be perfect for a family, particularly in cooler whether.

We didn’t realize the only bathroom is en-suite in the primary bedroom so you have to go through that room to use the toilet/shower which could be awkward for some groups. Also didn’t know this place is attached to a main house (which is occupied) with a shuttered window in the smaller bedroom so you can clearly hear the activities of that house in that room. The evening was cool so we opened the windows but were inundated with daddylonglegs so had to close them quickly which was unfortunate. Finally, it’s not far from the motorway so there’s a good bit of road noise. It was still great despite these things!

Lovely studio in a pretty village location

It is a lovely property, nicely furnished. There were some lovely touches from the host, including treats and breakfast items. The location was perfect for exploring rural Essex. The village is lovely, and the pub next door was very good.

Booked for the weekend but only stayed for one day.

The host was nice and it was a nice house.

The owner's dog came running up to our dog when we was just about to go in and started barking and growling at our dog straight away which unsettled our dog from the start, I personally found the sofa very uncomfortable, the shower constantly drips which is quite annoying and there definitely needs to be a more secure fence between the two properties to stop her dog putting it's head through and aggressively trying to bite another dog in the future. We also couldn't watch the tv because of constant buffering.

Very comfortable accommodation with friendly host

Lovely, comfortable, clean accommodation with everything we needed. Attractive village with very friendly pub next door, where we enjoyed good food on one night. Carolyn very helpful and welcoming and brought us round 2 Sicilian lemons for our gin! Would definitely return and recommend to others.

The flat is attached to another house and there are connecting doors to said house which means through those doors there is very little sound proofing. It was totally fine for us but I can see that this would not be idea for a booking who wants total silence, but equally isn't a place for any rowdiness.

Sehr netter und informativer Kontakt zur Gastgeberin. Sowohl Ausstattung als auch Design des Apt waren sehr gut. Wir waren sehr froh über den direkt benachbarten Pub und die Ratschläge für Supermärkte etc. Vielen Dank für die gute Zeit! :-)

Hébergement parfait, calme, à la campagne mais assez près de Londres

Le logement est très confortable et décoré avec goût. La proximité de Londres, que ce soit en voiture ou en train est idéale. Accessoirement, il y a un terrain de jeu très bien équipé pour enfants de l'autre côté de la rue, derrière un bosquet, ce qui fait que c'est très proche, mais qu'il n'y a pas de gêne sonore non plus. D'ailleurs, lorsque mes enfants l'ont utilisé, il n'y avait presque personne. Il y a également une mare et un petit parc à côté. Bref, Le village est très mignon et l'hébergement est parfait ! Un mention spéciale pour la propriétaire qui a été adorable et qui nous a laissé, les enfants et moi, jouer avec son chien dans son jardin.
