Exceeded expectations - spotless comfortable nights stay

Super clean, really lovely decor, great facilities & central location. The staff had laid out some chocolates & a small bunch of flowers in the room as it was Valentine’s Day - such a thoughtful touch.

Would have been good to have a full length mirror in room but otherwise everything was genuinely perfect.

The accommodation is very spacious and well decorated with brilliant bath and shower facilities. Food is delicious and staff very friendly and accommodating.

Lovely room but to expensive for the quality of stay.

Bathroom was freezing. Room was kne the road and main path so very noisey would have though the window would have been double glazed to keep out some of the noise. Bathroom backed on to courtyard and was so noisey up to closing time. Couldn't sleep until after 2am.

Great location, friendly staff, comfy bed

Breakfast was nice, piping hot and good portion sizes on first morning but just not available on second morning. Room was nice size and bed lovely and comfortable. We had a problem with the heating and someone came and sorted it straight away for us.

Room was cold,, however there was a radiator where you could adjust the heat and an oil radiator you could use and a fan heater. Bathroom was cold with no way to get any heat into it as electric towel rail only worked intermittently. Single glazed windows but it is an old building so perhaps it is listed. Shutters look lovely but heavy curtains would block the draughts better. We were not told when booking that the pub would be closed from 11pm on our second night meaning no breakfast available on second morning and we were not given any contact numbers to call should there be a problem. In hindsight I am not sure if anyone lives over the pub so available to help on any night. Outside door from pub courtyard to rooms seemed to be open or at best unlocked most of the time and no mechanism on room doors to be able to see who is knocking on door before opening. Nobody came to make up our room while we were there, giving us the option of fresh towels, we had asked for tea tray to be replenished but we're not sure if that happened or not.

Good central location in courtyard of charming old public house overlooking the estuary. Rooms clean and attractively furnished while staff are friendly and helpful.

Pub is on high street so traffic noise can be an issue for rooms art the front (but calms down later).

Staff were outstanding, as was the food and the room. Really really good place to stay

We went one of the coldest days this winter. The room was struggling to keep warm mainly due to the age of the property and an I’ll fitting bathroom window which wouldn’t fully close. With the bathroom door closed the whole room warmed up but being a large room it took a little time. On non sub zero days this wouldn’t be a problem at all and wouldn’t stop me rebooking again. It’s a great place.

Some blackout blinds would b a good addition in the bedroom as shutters do not fully close on windows, also some sort of door between bedroom/hallway as the security light in the hallway keeps someone like me awake albeit just a tiny bit of light emanates. Breakfast a little disappointing although fabulous service by all the staff

Good location for viewing the area.

Nice room and good clean bathroom. We could open the window for extra air, certainly needed in the hot weather. Food was really just average pub grub,plenty of it. We would have preferred breakfast not to have taken as long as it did. You could not order before 9 am. Menu was a little sp arse, no cereals or yoghurt, only toast or a large fry up.

A welcoming hotel with lovely bedrooms.

I liked the decor, the bedroom was very stylish.

The window would only open a small way then got stuck. The room was very hot. I tried the fan heater on cold which helped a tiny bit.

Birthday weekend break for the BF

Fabulous room! Huge bed and had a big bath in the bathroom. Staff at pub were super friendly and a real pleasure to chat with. We had a really enjoyable day sitting on the terrace overlooking the river. Will definitely be back!

Comfortable room but organisation left something to be desired.

The room was spacious and well equipped and the breakfast was fine. The staff were very friendly and helpful and were appropriately apologetic when they were trying to rectify mistakes of others. The pub was ideally situated.

We had to wait outside our room whilst the key was found when we'd checked in. When we were let into our room there were clothes and belongings there indicating someone was still staying there. Apparently, someone had put us in a different room but not updated the system. We were then moved to another room and to be fair were reimbursed £20 to reflect the different rate. When we went to the bar later for 2 glasses of prosecco there was only 1 prosecco glass available. At breakfast the next morning, another couple there ordered a particular item only to be told there was no streaky bacon and then a bit later no bagels and in fact that item was being removed from the menu but was clearly still listed. The waitress having to deal with all of this was very apologetic and was very attentive to our needs.
