Good. V convenient for the ferry

I was early an the manager found a room ahead of time. He swapped me to first floor from second floor which was good because there is no lift and I am not brilliant on stairs. I used the resaturant which I think is part of the same business, l"Ardoise. Excellent meal and service.

Stay somewhere else!

Location

Specifically asked for ground floor room as I’m disabled. They said ok. I arrived to find they have no ground floor rooms and I had to struggle up 2 flights of stairs. I shouldn’t have bothered as the room wasn’t worth the effort. A very tired hotel.

A great little hotel in a good position for late/early ferry timings.

Position for the ferry. Clean and comfortable. We arrived late but had a phone call the day before giving concise check in instructions so all worked perfectly. Parked our car nearby.

Fantastic stop for the morning ferry!

The old building is beautiful! Value for money does not sum it up enough! The staff were extremely efficient and spoke amazing English, their attention to service was very good, they were extremely welcoming and very friendly. For use regarding catching the early ferry (as we did) or coming from the ferry this is more than perfect. The fact they are also pet friendly is an enormous bonus. The onsite restaurant was extremely good quality serving lovely meals containing plentiful portions which were full of amazing flavour! again the restaurant was fantastic value for money! Overall based upon value for money and efficiency and the staff I cannot fault this hotel.

Honestly there was very little not to like so I am being fussy! Though we would not have required it on our stay tea facilities would be a nice touch, they already have WIFI and TV but tea/coffee making facilities would have added that extra, but I’m being fussy trying to put something into this box. Again being fussy but a bit more serious, carpet in the rooms could help dampen the noise from rooms above. The beautiful old building has great charm but it is old with charm. Sadly we had some noisy people above us who disturbed our sleep, flushing the loo and having a shower at 1am, then dropping things, moving stuff around etc, etc we needed to be up at 5am! I feel carpet could have helped with that…… but it’s a pet friendly hotel so carpet could be an issue for the hotel! PLEASE NOTE HOW THIS IS NOT A BAD REFLECTION upon the hotel itself but it’s something to consider as people can forget there are others in the rooms below them.

Reception could do with a freshen up to make it more inviting. No lift, so took a couple of trips up the stairs.with baggage. Bedroom decor could do with a revamp. Dated but functional.

We were arriving late off the ferry. They had someone to meet us and welcome us to the hotel.

The hotel is so central with many restaurants to choose from, but we also ate at the hotel and the food was really good and value for money. We had breakfast which was very fresh with croissants and bread with tea, coffee, hot chocolate and fresh orange juice

The location was ideal for the ferry terminal

There was no air conditioning or fan available. The room was so hot it was impossible to sleep. Our room was on the top floor which may have made things worse. The hotel management can not be held responsible for the hot weather but they should at least be in a position to offer a fan. We will not stay again and cannot recommend this hotel.

Perfect for the late ferry into Ouistreham. 2 minutes from the port, and free parking in the street behind. Clean comfy room.

The closeness to the ferry port.

The unpleasant smell in corridors, there was only 2 small towels in the bathroom for 3 of us and no staff to get anymore. Uncomfortable beds and strange smell from the bedding. The shower wouldn’t stay in its holder and sprayed everywhere unless you held it.

Pleasant room and staff, practical location and good value for money

The staff was very helpful and friendly. We arrived late from the ferry (22:00) and someone was waiting for the guests and helped us. The room was quiet, bright, clean and had large windows which made is easy to ventilate. The breakfast was good value for money. It was a very easy option as our ferry arrived in Ouistreham late in the evening. It’s close to the ferry, easy to reach by car and to park next to. It is also not too far from the beach and I could take my dog for a run along the sea in the morning before leaving.

Net curtains would be a good addition to the thick curtains so that you can get ready in the morning in natural light.

A great hotel very convenient for people coming off the ferry.

L' Écailler, once I found it was a clean, well-appointed and convenient hotel to stay at. The staff went out of their way to help make my stay enjoyable. (I arrived very late but they were contactable and I was able to get into the hotel and my room without any trouble.)
