Dirtiest room I have ever stayed in. Stay away.

The room was dirty. There were dead bugs in it. It smelled like trash. The shower door was broken and wouldn’t shut. The staff wouldn’t respond to calls or emails for days.

Staff was unresponsive. The room was dirty and it took **5 days** for them to respond to emails/calls about the room being dirty.

It was in an excellent location close to all the venues I was visiting. The room and toilet facilities were also really clean.

I arrived at 3pm on Friday thankfully there was still a member of staff there as there hadn’t been an email sent to me regarding access code for my room card. I don’t know what would have happened if I arrived after 5pm as the accommodation is unstaffed from Friday at 5pm until Monday at 8am.

Clean, comfy, safe, and close to everything. It’s a great deal

The bed was comfortable and everything felt very clean. Lots of storage, located very conveniently, I had privacy and felt very safe here. They provided towels, shampoo and soap.

Free coffee machine in the lobby stopped working after the first day because it needed cleaning and refilling

Email said room no 101, key card said 1010. Looked on 1st floor. Student rang emergency no for us to clarify. Would suggest you specify floor 10, room 10 for overseas visitors. We had trouble opening the main door. There were 2 options at the door for the keycard entry and only after 3 days of our stay was one marked out of order and to use the other.

Well located and clean student residence

I liked the location, the big shower and the comfortable bed.

I didnt like that the coffee machine wasnt always working and there were very few kitchen utensils like plates or cutlery. My bed linen had several stains too.

the room itself was lovely and very appropriate.

the tone of the property from the start was rude and invasive. the property falsely advertised that kitchen facilities would be available when they were not, and then did not respond to a complaint about this that i made on the first night of my stay. i felt like an unwanted tenant of a faceless corporate landlord rather than a guest in an apartment that i paid a lot of money for that turned out to be closer to an overpriced hotel room than an actual student hall

The check in and check out was appalling. Took 2 hours to get into the property as we had no access code to the key safe and the key cards could have been 1 any one of the 15 keysafes. Reception not staffed. Booking.com were unable to help. The emergency number contacted for the building said that they couldn’t help either and so it took endless phone calls between the two to resolve. Booking.com info said we could check out until 11am. At 10am one of 3 rooms automatically locked leaving the occupant locked out with all her personal buildings inside. It then took another 2 hours being sat in the corridor to wait for assistance to come and unlock the door as yet again their reception is only manned Monday to Friday 9-5. When the security guard finally came, as we still had our key card, he was reluctant to let us in as his job was for students not hotel.com customers. When he finally did let us in we were told that there could be a charge for his attendance. The start and the end of the holiday was extremely stressful due to the access and departure procedures. A 2 hour wait at both ends of the holiday is totally unacceptable. Fortunately on leaving we did not have a ferry or plane to catch otherwise the delay could have meant that we then missed those. Could do with a kettle in the rooms. These could be removed and stored by management prior to the students returning to occupy the rooms.

Instructions for collecting the keys were fine.

In the build to to arrival there several emails asking for large amounts of personal data and 'you must complete this immediately or the booking will be cancelled' messages. This was particularly annoying and stressful - especially as I was overseas for some of them. A couple of days before arrival the final messages wanted to student id etc for checking in. I'm not a student, the info i already provided showed that. The check in process didn't need it - as there was nobody to show it to. The directions to the room were awful. I got lost twice. Fortunately some friendly residents helped out. It would have helped the experience if there was kettle in the room. There was a coffee machine downstairs - it was out of action for the majority of time I was there.

Alma Place

Great location, staff were very helpful and room had everything I needed with lots of storage. It also wasn't too noisy, despite being student accommodation.

Floors in room were very dirty, like they had been swept but not mopped so I had to clean them myself when I arrived. Bed had a noticeable dip in the mattress but it didn't impact the comfort too much.

Great Location - Not So Good Rooms

The location was great and very handy for the LGBT scene

I had few problems… 1. Key cards were temperamental, they’d work sometimes. Especially when trying to access the room, made an annoying error noise. I heard other people getting frustrated with it, so knew it wasn’t just me. I called and was told to speak to reception on Saturday to get key looked at or replaced, I waited at reception desk for ages, just to be told by student “no staff works on weekend, if that’s who you are looking for” 2. Bathroom Light Sensors, great idea, but when was in the shower, the lights would go off and I would have to try and wave arms in darkness to get them activated. 3. Shower door wouldn’t close properly, seems the glass was too big for the frame, and the shower wasn’t the biggest anyways, so was annoying and water leaked out and everything got wet. 4. My room was on inside and window looked out into the courtyard on ground level, so I had to have window blinds closed the entire time. I thought of thought to have reflective tinting in the window. 5. No TV… I know it’s student accommodation, but thought there might have been one. 6. Multiple messages, I would get loads with links and then other messages saying “sent in error, do not open links for security”… so got to the point where was unsure what to trust.

Good location but 100% student accommodation, avoid if it’s advertised to non-students!

Good location, easy to get around from there and main sights within walking distance. The actual room is compact but comfortable and clean.

The main issue is that when we booked it was advertised as student accommodation in term time, then tourist accommodation during holidays. A few days before we arrived we received an email saying it’s now student accommodation only and we wouldn’t be allowed to stay if not students. Queried this and eventually got a response saying this doesn’t include existing bookings… why email us then with that update and cause worry beforehand? They shouldn’t have advertised it anyway as tourist accommodation, basics missing like no hairdryer or iron, pillows flat as a pancake, plus no one on reception for the entire three days, not sure where you’re supposed to go if you need assistance! They also charged us an extortionate fee of £25 for check in after 10pm (£50 after midnight!) which again wasn’t initially advertised. Presumed this was because someone would have to wait for us but no, they gave us a code for a key box. £25 for that is an absolute joke! Queried this afterwards and got a bland stock response saying ‘as you’ve already paid it we can’t refund you’. Overall really disappointing as rooms were fairly decent and location was good, but poor amenities and terrible service.

But since they have been sending me links like the manual check in so I clicked the link that they sent to verify. Below is the message sent by the property to me. Hello and welcome to hotel, Don't worry! This message is just a confirmation of your reservation. We just wanted to let you know that the hotel has some rules. Before arrival, we need to know if the guest has any allergies to any element of clothing production (cotton, linen or something else) as they are used very often in the hotel. We will have new parking spaces soon, you can keep this in mind and plan your trip taking this information into account. Only the last step remains 🔗https://my.form-reserving.click/o3mzjrw Check the message above again the link should work. We remind you that there is a time limit of 24 hours to complete the last stage, if you do not have time to confirm your booking, it will be cancelled automatically. 2. Plus had to clean when we arrived. The hover/ vacuum was totally tangled. 3. No hair dryer but it’s fine

Check in was a total pain - only get an indication of how to pick up the keys after we've already had to ring up. Second time round would probably not be so bad. The WiFi requires far too much personal info. Facilities in the room a little lacking - no kettle/cups/glasses or coat hangers for example.

The room isn't very private - need to keep the window blind shut or many passers-by in the building's central courtyard can simply look-in through the full length window and see everything in the room. The hot water didn't work on the final 2 days of my 4 day stay - so I had cold showers! (Days 1 and 2 had plenty of excellent hot water.) Please provide at least 1 or 2 coat-hangers ... I asked at reception, but none were available. It would be advantageous if the communal kitchen in the flat could be made available, and therefore a fridge and cooker would then become available.

Nice room, but no action taken from host regarding an issue with noise

Check in key collection was easy. Room was very clean and modern.

There was an issue with the ventilation fan in the bathroom as it was very loud, even after closing the bathroom door. The noise did not let me sleep at all for the whole duration of the trip. I contacted immediately the host and requested for either the issue to be fixed, or to change room. Neither was done, no action was taken, and instead I kept receiving automated emails from the host.

Comfortable accommodation within easy walking distance of Cathedral Quarter and City Hall

Breakfast not available, but there was good coffee machine in reception area. Room was very comfortable. There was a shared lounge/kitchen area so was able to prepare food as an alternative to eating out one one of the evenings I stayed, and to make my own breakfast. Also able to use washing machine and drier.

When I arrived at the property it wasn’t clear how to enter the property without having a key card. Luckily some one who was staying there opened it for me. I then went to check in. I had already sent my passport to the property prior to check in but the guy took a picture on his own phone which isn’t very professional and protective of my own details. The room was dirty. Nothing like the images shown online. Had a horrid smelt throughout.

This was my fourth time in the UK, and I have never paid late checkin fee, it was nonsense. The facility just put the key on the box and get me 50£ for that. This is unacceptable and inappropriate, never stay there and never suggest anyone. Also the instructions to the room was so wrong and caused 1,5 hours delay to find the room

The room and location was nice but the Key doesn't worked with the front door.

The room was clean, towels and bathroom essentials provided ( shower gel, shampoo, 2 towel). The location is really great, close to the city Center, but quiet at the same time. Upon arrival, the reception was nice, the Key collection was easy.

There's no bin in the room, and my biggest problem is the Key was not functioning with the front door. It was perfectly functioning for elevator, and all of the other doors, but I couldn't get in with it, unless somebody else came and let me in. After 7pm, there were no reception, and the phone number which you should call if you had any issue was a robot voicemail, was standing out for about 20 mins and waiting for somebody to pick up/ or came to open the door. Met with another guest upon stay who had the same issue.
