Everything. Love the intimate size. Appealed to adults who enjoy the quieter, refined vibe. Staff were excellent, friendly, prompt and attention to detail. Chef was exquisite. Spa staff on point. Room facilities top class.

The welcoming of the employees, providing an umbrella as it was raining and assistance with the luggage.
The room was upgraded from balcony suite to one with a private pool. The room was very clean, bed comfortable and the shower with rainfall head was very nice.
Recommend the 15 minute free massage as well.
The dinner menu was extensive and there were vegetarian options available.
The breakfast was very nice.
I had an issue with the TV remote and they resolved it quickly.
The location is somewhat away from the city centre but it has great views of the rice fields.

gorgeous decor, especially plunge pool in villa. quite good sound isolation and peacefulness given the craziness of ubud. wifi was decent and hot water etc worked well - not always true of boutique/rural hotels. Live music at dinner was a charming touch.
the stone paths, lighting, jungle, it’s all real! it’s all great!
the place was underwhelming on many basics/standards. no small washcloths provided (for showering/scrubbing); little refreshment towels provided at check-in (a usually nice resort touch) were visibly stained brown, rather unappealing. Food was overpriced for area (typical), but far below quality of local restaurants; in the provided breakfast, fruit was not fresh, bread was mediocre. barely any hangers in closet to store clothes. no hooks in shower-toilet for towel. Or anywhere actually. You will never have a hung-dry towel.
two things bothered me worst:
- location is close to ubud and i liked the retreat atmosphere, but you are not allowed to call a Grab due to the site/village location, so expect to pay 2x for a hotel car (and far more BS to book). If you walk out to get a grab, village taxi drivers kind of shame you. It’s a random location fail I had no idea about ahead of time.
- in the villa we stayed in, the design is pretty but also awful: toilet is in the shower (!), door to the toilet is clear glass (!!), and the location is visible from villa entrance. So if you’re there on a romantic getaway with a partner, you will have to use audio cues if you want even visual privacy to poop. (Forget auditory privacy, it’s all there…)
