We drove for a very long time to reach this hotel, along very narrow and uncomfortable roads, and at first I wasn’t sure if it would be worth it. The hotel is located as if hidden beyond the rice fields, in a very peaceful place.
The Balinese style of the hotel is incredible — a beautiful pool, balconies, jungle surroundings, and a café overlooking the rice fields. The staff are extremely kind and attentive, and their uniforms in traditional Balinese style are absolutely beautiful. They are always ready to help, bring anything you need, and do everything for your comfort — and they do it very quickly.
Thank you for washing my clothes — they smelled amazing afterwards.
The room is spacious, clean, and has a wonderful balcony overlooking the pool. There is also a great gym with a field view and a yoga room.
But the food deserves special praise. Your fried bananas are something extraordinary. Thank you for preparing them for me even during breakfast time when the main menu was not yet available.
The hotel has such a relaxing atmosphere that I didn’t even want to leave the next day. I just stayed and enjoyed the hotel because everything I needed was right there on the property. I also loved that you can buy shower gel, shampoo, and other products at the hotel — they smell incredible. Of course, I couldn’t resist, and I bought it
It actually took me some time to think about what I liked most, because this place is truly amazing.
Maybe I’ll sound strict or picky, but please don’t make glass walls in the bathroom. Make it private.

The hotel’s location is perfect if you want to rest away from the city, with beautiful views of the rice terraces. The staff were always attentive. My fiancée was bitten by a monkey, and they took us to the clinic; everyone at the hotel kept asking how she was doing. Every time we arrived, the team at reception would come outside to welcome us. At the breakfast restaurant, the staff were very polite and attentive. I don’t know his name, but one of the F&B supervisors took us to the clinic and waited for us even after his shift, with a great attitude, the Friday evening life guitar singer for diner was amazing.
Definitely, the greatest value of this hotel is its employees.
Areas for improvement: the bathroom had a sewage smell and some mold. Everything else was good

It’s up in the hills a little cooler than down in Canggu the pool villas are nice just a bit rundown but it’s really nice still. For a good little food place to go to try uma’s something you can see it on google maps it’s walking distance. Grab will get you home from town for $10 aud get the shuttle into ubud. Staff are friendly.
There was a few issues, the food was a big issue being away from everything, it was sometimes very poor, duck that was chewy or food that was just cold, we booked diners and entertainment in the restaurant the first night, got told it started at 7:30! Late but we show up at 7:30 and there is a buffet of bad cold Hawaiian style food, when we advised staff it was cold and asked was there more coming out, they checked it out and said no the food is warm. but they did allow us to order from the menu instead. Which brings me to my second point, the staff’s English is very bad for Bali, we clearly got wrong information about when the show starts and when the buffet opens, we also order 2 glasses of wine during happy hour through room service. $15 they sent a bottle $50. So I asked the room service guy this is the 2 glasses of wine for happy hour he said 👍 I didn’t have my glasses on so I sign for it. !
And the last issue was our neighbour in the other villa, one night there was 3 loud ladies and a few others, definitely not 4 people, laughing talking over each other in the pool until almost midnight, it killed the chilled vibe they either had friends in the resorts and invited them back or had friends staying in a normal room to come party in there villa. we had to complain twice before they became quite, the the next day the guy just walked into our villa saw me swimming and turned around without saying anything, and there is no way he wasn’t aware it wasn’t his villa there are walls as you walk that you need to go around, he would have been walking in the wrong direction. and the next day 2 of the girls rang our door bell twice ant 8:00am and then jus walked off!!!!

The villa was loverly but what made this stay special were the staff ! We were treated so well and everyone was so welcoming and accommodating. The breakfast was also great with lots of options. The hotels drivers were fantastic in getting us about also ! The spa facilities great we went back for massages a few times actually. We would return again on our next visit to Bali.

The location among the rice field is very naturalistic, but has obviously some drawbacks such as insects and some environment noise. Dinner greatly overpriced for the quality and quantity. Minimal fitness room, both in terms of equipment and size.

A Truly Unforgettable Stay!
Our stay at The Sun of Granary exceeded all expectations. Everything was perfect—from the stunning private pool with its peaceful ambiance to the exceptional breakfast and dinner offerings. The Balinese dance performance was a beautiful highlight of our evenings. Although it’s a bit outside Ubud center, the location turned out to be a real advantage—peaceful, scenic, and a perfect escape from the crowds. This hotel made our trip incredibly memorable. Highly recommended for anyone looking to experience the best of Bali in comfort and style!

In nice rice fields
Firstly, our room stank of sewerage from start to finish and all they did to remedy was bring us candle powered air fresheners which barely helped at all.
The staff were overbearing and it sounds like a strange complaint but it’s not pleasant to have to say hello 100 times a day to people. Say good morning, introduce yourself in the beginning and then just let guests relax. Please.
But most importantly -
Legally negligent, unsafe, and dishonest, this resort should not be in operation
Our experience at The Sun of Granary Resort was not just unacceptable, it was legally dangerous and a complete failure of basic guest duty-of-care.
While using the pool, a wild monkey approached us at extremely close range.. something the resort clearly knows is a risk on their property. There were no warnings, no signage, no barriers, and no trained staff present to protect guests (we got up slowly and managed to make it back to our room, called staff who turned up almost 10 minutes later as they would never man the pool area). This is a direct violation of the standard safety and health protocols expected from any hospitality business, especially in a region where monkeys are known carriers of serious zoonotic diseases, including herpes, rabies and HIV.
Instead of addressing the issue responsibly, management tried to give us a more exposed room, dismissed our concerns, and later promised a refund if we checked out early which we knew was another scam and had to beg multiple times for them to document it in writing and are now avoiding follow-up entirely. This is not miscommunication, this is a calculated refusal to take accountability and hide behind fake smiles, scammer behaviour and weak narratives of ‘wildlife’..

This is my 3rd time and i have spent there almost more than 2 weeks🤗 everything is great but there are some small spaces for improvements, at least to put a bottle of water (with lime) nothing special on breakfast , i do have a feeling that everything needs to be paid (almost napkin)🙈
most of the people will appreciate this, if they find a bottle of water on table. then if we should pay and tax, these amounts should be with this charge on the top, not without, this would maybe help the bar on swimming pool as i have heard that people does not want to order things as they do not have clarity about prices.
Last thing, as i do have local NGO running to helping cats in my country, ím here always helping with some castration of cats which are appearing in hotel and this staying cost me about 300 Eur to catch then and pay taxi to bring them to veterinary. and this should be done by hotel- management. I know that Bali is full of poor people and animals but from hotel i would expect that they will be an example. I have left soˇe foof for this cat and i do believe that this hotel will feed her once she is back from sterlization. But this was something from my perspective, i know that other people does not care…but this would be perfect if they will…thank you

Very nice staff. They paid attention to you! They saw me taking photos and offered to schedule a photoshoot which I loved! Pool was beautiful, room was beautiful! Loved the dance performance at dinner one night. Free shuttle into center and paid shuttle wherever you want to go and they will match grab prices so that was convenient.

Wasn’t so happy about breakfast. Category with Indonesiaan food was fine, bud I ordered avocado salsa on toast and it was weird, three slices of bread, only on one was a tiny portion of avocado with rucola, so it was mostly bread, but I ordered extra avocado, so it was ok

Exceptional Balinese Hospitality, the location and views are just stunning. All requests are handled with so much courtesy and promptness that it was just perfect. The food at the restaurant doesn't offer many options but had superb quality and taste. Highly recommend this property and will definitely come again

Absolutely an amazing location amongst the beautiful rice fields. Away from the busy streets of Ubud. If you want to experience real Balinese culture and complete seclusion, tranquillity and serenity this is the place to be. It is a smaller intimate resort but has everything it needs.
The menu should include more options. If you stay more than 3 nights it quickly becomes apparent that you've had everything on the menu. It is the same menu for room service, pool, lunch and dinner.

We truly had an amazing stay at the Sun of Granary. The location is providing all the elements of a ritual paradise; in the middle of the ricefields, surrounded by the all the green nature Ubud provedes. Besides that:
- Room: we faced the pool from the second floor with a stunning view over the palm - and banana trees. Room was clean, with a daily cleaning service.
- Activities: the resort is arranging all kinds of activities (complimentary or extra fee). We did a complimentary morning walk across the local ricefields. Brilliant host Ade told us everything about the surrounded ricefields, proces of making rice and she showed even the ricefield of her family. Amazing personal touch. Besides this, we took a wonderful massage at the spa: recommended!
- Restaurant: daily shows are being organized during dinner. Balinese dance, acoustic singer, saxophonist. Meals are great of taste - from typical Indonesian to international dishes. At two nights, Sudi has served us tremendously. Having an amazing smoothiebowl facing the ricefields was something we loved every single morning during breakfast.
- Service: the resort deserves a 10 on service. A couple examples. At a certain evening we asked brilliant host Koki how we can easily travel to three highlights the next day. Within 30 minutes on that same night, he has set up a complete day trip towards our desired places with a personal driver, including (cold) soft drinks on board. Other example: we faced issues traveling from Ubud to Padangbai to get the boat to Gili. Koki fixed it and arranged a personal driver that was waiting for us at 05.30 am (!!) with a breakfast box for us during the long ride. Truly amazing.
Most importantly, the staff is having a lot of fun in making guests ultimately comfortable during their stay. Koki, Tama, Fuji, Ade and Sudi Made our stay unforgettable.
Keep up the good work!
However, there is always room for improvement:
- Bathroom: power of the shower is not very strong, seems to be a quick fix in our opinion.
- Water: guest from Europe can’t drink the water from the tap, so we must have mineral water. Only a small bottle was complimentary, they must be bought in the restaurant. Tip: make large bottles of water complimentary, so that every guests can brush their teeth without worries. :)

Loved everything.but would like to mention that the villas are on different levels so accessing them with disabilities might be difficult.as well as the resort itself required some driving uphill.but since we were on our honeymoon and used to riding motorbikes.we were alright.

The location is nestled within the rice fields, which was tranquil and beautiful.
Our room was not cleaned regularly. My partner would need to ask reception several times to clean our room, and it still wasn’t cleaned some days.
The breakfast was okay, but not to the same standard as other accomodation in the area.
The location is beautiful but quite a long way from the centre of town. On a scooter, it took us 25-30 minutes each way (without traffic, too). There is one part of the road which is extremely steep and has gravel. I would only recommend experienced riders use a scooter to get to/from the accomodation. The shuttle is an option, but not for dinner because the last shuttle is 5pm.

Firstly, the facilities are amazing. If you're wanting a quiet, tranquil getaway with your loved one or family, this is the place to stay. The resort has everything you need from great food to spa to beautiful villas with their own private pool. Can't fault the cleanliness, with the cleaners attending to the rooms daily. Beautiful views of the rice fields from the restaurant. Only a 30 minute drive into central Ubud, meaning you get to enjoy the best of both. Everything you need and more.
Amazing facilities mean nothing without an amazing team of people, and the team are amazing. Welcoming, kind,
and genuine individuals who always made an effort to strike up a conversation and help when needed. They're like one big family, and we were honestly sad to say our goodbyes.
Finally, the resort offers a number of paid extras. We would highly recommend the romantic dinner, with a special menu and food served at your villa by the team. This made for a very special night for my partner and I, and the chef and team did not disappoint. Beautiful food, thoughtful decorations and all in all a beautiful experience. 10/10.

Peaceful location. Set away from a lot of neighbouring properties. Breakfast was nice. The pool area is very pretty. Room was bright and tidy and had a lovely outdoor area. The staff kindly set up a “happy birthday” decoration in the room as a surprise for my partner and even made him a mini cake. The exercise area is small, but is private and also clean.
The restaurant was expensive with limited vegetarian options.
