Alam Ubud Culture Villas is a beautiful hidden gem set in a peaceful jungle location. The setting feels very private and special, yet still close enough to Ubud. The staff were amazing — friendly, helpful, and genuinely welcoming. The rooms were in excellent condition, very clean, and well maintained. A great place to relax and experience the true Ubud atmosphere. Highly recommended.
Just something to keep in mind — guests with mobility or disability concerns may prefer to request a higher-level villa, as the lower villas closer to the river involve a significant number of stairs to reach the restaurant and reception.

Gorgeous grounds, room was spotless and huge!
The staff were very attentive and friendly, even offering a yoga class. They made checking in and out easy!

A feeling of serenity. Our pool villa was a three bedroom with infinity pool overlooking the jungle. The best view we could ever wish for being in Ubud. A feeling of bliss the whole time. Very peaceful.
Only thing would be the breakfast being à la carte with limited items you can select instead of buffet like the other hotels we stayed at but was still delicious and well presented. Fresh fruit and juices etc.

The hotel was stunning and the views were spectacular. The infinity pool and spring water pool were both beautiful and relaxing and the breakfast in the morning was delicious.
There are only stairs to get up and down, no elevators or ramps so if you do have trouble walking or need disability services this is probably not the place for you. It is also about 40 minute taxi ride to the center.

i didn’t take seriously comments about stairs and it was a big mistake! you really have to be prepared to have sore legs after… every time you go to lobby, restaurant or pool you will need to go up A LOT OF STAIRS (the amount depends on the villa you have)
this hotel is incredible for people who want to connect with nature, find solitude or explore northern Ubud area. all the time you will be surrounded by jungles🌴but it is not a great place if you work remotely (especially in IT)!
you will always find activity for yourself here - cooking and dancing classes, cycling, yoga (free every tuesday morning) and much more! also you can explore nearby area - elephants, waterfalls and nice restaurants; i recommend going to Toya Ubud (just 10 minutes away) and try pizza in Bella Puzza Ubud.
other than that for additional price you can get floating breakfast/lunch/tea time, which is very nice!
as for the restaurant, prices are okay and the food is not bad as well. breakfast costs 150k per person and for this price you get fruit, juice, and one dish of your choice (vegetarian, american, european and indonesian dishes). coffee, tea and water are unlimited during breakfast. also you can order Grab here, just be ready to wait longer (40+ min)
overall we liked our stay here💞stuff is very nice and welcoming, people are friendly! and if some of you are afraid of insects, bugs and animals like i am - don’t be too afraid, we only saw and heard geckos, but nothing scary
here are all the disadvantages we found:
-bed canopy/mosquito net over the bed and bed sheets felt not clean enough
-sockets didn’t work properly, most of the time we couldn’t charge our phones
-wifi was working on our phones, but if you have to work online from your laptop be ready to use hotspot from the phone. speed test showed 5-10 mbps, so be prepared for that
-balcony door doesn’t close fully
-for some reason bathroom door is transparent (for us it was not a big problem as it is far from the bed, but maybe for some it is important)
-stairs (sorry, i am not sporty haha)

We were met at checkin by the friendliest, most welcoming staff who helped us get our bags down to our room and throughout our stay, i can't say enough good things about the people who work at Alam Ubud. They were exceptional!
I might not have stayed here if i had realised that we would be walking up and down the equivalent of 8 flights of stairs to get to the restaurant or to get out to see someplace. I had no idea it was going to be so far and since I have severe osteoarthritis, that was a huge deal! If anyone in a similar situation considers booking here - book villa 1 or 2 - no others!

Authentic jungle setting with beautiful views. Very clean pools. Spa therapists very skilled. Staff kind and friendly, and very welcoming to our young baby. Booked an airport transfer and it arrived as planned. Easy access to Ubud via Grab or hotel shuttle. The luggage porters are super heros! The WiFi is surprisingly good for such a remote hotel.
The hotel has a much more basic feel than a 4 star so overall we were really disappointed.
We had a private pool villa (Arjuna) and it was so damp inside the sheets and towels almost felt wet. The mosquito net smelled very badly of damp which didn’t make sleeping very pleasant. The wardrobe is inside the bathroom so all your clothes soon feel damp and smell. There were leaks in the roof when it rained - one of our bags got completely soaked and my husband slipped on the water and hurt himself very badly and we were randomly offered a pizza to say sorry which was a bit strange. Everything in the room is a little bit broken - the bathroom door didn’t close, the sink didn’t drain, the decking is rotting.
The stairs are a nightmare depending on which villa you get. I’m 36 and relatively fit and I found them a challenge! It’s even more annoying when it rains (which is often) so you’re soaked by the time you get to reception. They don’t have any hotel umbrellas either which again, is weird for a 4 star hotel.
The food is just about ok but expensive for the area. If you enjoy eating and drinking as part of your holiday you’ll likely have to go out for dinner most nights. It’s also annoying that they ask you to choose what you want for breakfast the day before. Coffee and tea at breakfast not good either.
The bar and restaurant area are small and not comfortable / nicely decorated. Again a bit damp and smelly. They are quite functional spaces which - is annoying if you get a rainy day - that you can’t find somewhere cosy to hang out in the hotel.

The overall ambiance is great, near the river and surrounded by jungle.
Taking a fresh dive in the private pool every morning makes you feel great.

Bad breakfast
They called me everyone morning around 8am for cleaning, total shame
They did mistakes for the billing during check out
Total shame you are calling customers at 8am during their vacation for cleaning

The facilities were really good in there villa. We had booked a private pool villa and it was amazing. The size of the pool was decent. The property itself had another pool which was larger. It was nice and quiet with the sounds of nature. The restaurant in the villa had good food. Moreover, the staff in the villa were very polite, helpful and professional.

The private pool villa was amazing! It was a lavish stay, we ordered room service which was excellent and good value for money. The property offers spa services in your room after 6pm as well, which was a huge plus for us since we were out till evening. Overall a lovely stay with a complete jungle vibe. If you like waking up to the sound of crickets and robins chirping among the trees, I would highly recommend this place.

Lovely spacious, clean villa with private pool. Very friendly staff. Calm and quiet setting. Outside of Ubud but the resort offers a free shuttle twice a day. Excellent priced spa with the spa area being down by the river, truly immersed in nature.

Nature / staff
the place run down/ no basic cleanliness , Doors don’t fully seal, small lizards got in, and baby lizards actually fell from the ceiling in the main cabana. I developed a rash likely from bed mites, and the room was very humid with damp walls. Limited breakfast options, overpriced for the comfort and cleanliness provided.

It had too many stairs for reaching out to each facility and each room or villa.

Too many issues. Small ones but important ones. Terrible upkeep. No thoughtfulness in the making. If you are a kind of family who is paying for the trappings of modern life, even within a jungle resort, not for you AT ALL. No locks on main door, locks on room doors don't work. Internal Connectivity within the 3 rooms of the villa was very poor. If it rains you get wet. No privacy in bathroom. If you are sharing be prepared the other occupants will know everything you do in the toilets and bathroom. Too few power plug points and half of them don't work, other half badly located. Only saving grace was the private pool was good. Staff tries to be very helpful but overall management is poor and senior management needs to take complete blame. Extremely poor maintenance. Doors don't lock. Some doors look like they haven't been opened in decades! Very very poor location. No stores or shops at Walking distance. You have to take a bike or car for everything. You are at the mercy of the hotel for food etc. Which is good to eat but very expensive. IDR 800.000 to 1200.000 for 4 persons.
A list of what i liked would be shorter. A place best avoided like they plague. We were fortunate we had the 3 room villa with private pool (Jerong Labah) i think it was called. If your room is below near the river you are done for! Between 120 to 230 steps to climb up to the restaurant to have breakfast.

Slippers could be better quality especially as some paths were not completely smooth

Everything! Nothing bad to say—wifi was working great, netflix on tv etc. This is definitely the most beautiful hotel I have ever stayed at. We had a room with the jungle view & a private pool which was exceptional and the view was amazing, peaceful & so quiet.
The hotel itself was really nice, staff was super friendly & helpful with booking stuff at the reception and borrowing us things such as an iron. Pool really nice with a nice jungle view as well, also the hot spring down stairs by the river was nice and quiet. LOTS of food options for breakfast too, amazing!!
Surroundings around the hotel are beautiful with the rice fields. Nearby village and waterfall that’s walkable & soms nice restaurants near. We even saw a monkey at the hotel the morning we left.
We had the best experience ever! If we are ever in Bali again, we will definitely stay here again when we are in Ubud.
Nothing really

Stairs, though we asked for a room close to pool and restaurant so we did not have to negotiate all the stairs on the steep property, and they kindly accommodated us.

I had the distinct pleasure of staying at Alam Ubud Culture Villas for 12 peaceful nights during my trip to Bali. I very rarely write reviews but was so impressed by the service and accommodation that I had to give kudos to the team for their prompt and courteous attendance while managing to keep the grounds in pristine condition.
I opted for a room with a private pool (Yudistira). The main room and bathroom were both spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable, the air conditioner was silent and the hot water was plentiful for long morning showers. There was a small bar fridge in the room which was handy for keeping groceries and water nice and cool. Room cleaning (including coffee/tea station + 2x water bottle refill and towel replacing) was available daily at request from the reception (just use the room phone). They have a laundry service available and generally will have your laundry pressed, folded and back to you within 24 hours. Outside the little private infinity pool was well maintained. I had zero problems with mosquitoes or other jungle critters coming into the room; I just made sure to keep the doors closed when venturing outside to the pool. The wifi was solid with no issues streaming from either my iPad or television.
The grounds encompassing the entire place is quite large with steps and terraces descending down the valley to a spring fed pool and finally a large decking at the base near the river. There is a ramp that descends down a portion of the way but traversal of the grounds is best done on foot with good footwear as it can get slippery.
Having a restaurant with room service available onsite until 22:00 was fantastic. After 12 nights I had sampled most of the menu and was delighted with the variety and quality of food. The complimentary breakfast that came with the room needs to be ordered the day before with reception. The selection was ample with traditional Balinese to Western or vegetarian breakfasts.

We celebrated our 10th anniversary at one of the royal villas. We enjoyed everything, from breakfast to dinner, and completely disconnected from electronics. Our daughter spent hours in the swimming pool, and we also indulged in the spa services, which offered a wonderful experience with a beautiful river view.
The doors were not completely closed, leaving gaps that allowed small creatures like lizards to enter the suite.

The property is very beautiful and clean there are a lot of activities possible nearby. You get a refreshing welcome drink at check in. Nyoman our waterfall tourguide of the alam was so friendly and showed us around the ricefields and the jungle. we really recommend the restaurant there speaking as a dining expert. try ceviche and the bebek goreng. With Made we had always the choice between many breakfast maindishes. and as you enjoy breakfast there is a nice man playing relaxing live music. the massages are powerful and relaxing. also try the floating breakfast but check the weather first for the next day! the staff was always helpfull and open to any wishes, in the end of our stay Nilam got us a refreshing goodbye drink.
perfect for a honeymoon, in fact it wasn‘t our honeymoon.

The place itself was beautiful. Rooms were massive, big comfy firm beds and very clean. We had a private infinity pool looking out over the jungle. We were delighted when we checked in
Cracks started to show when my husband went down to use the communal area to work. There were no working plugs anywhere and the staff were very unhelpful. He asked about cocktails later and after a bit of confusion they said maybe later on they could make one or two different ones they were trialling. For the price you expect someone to know how to make a cocktail. We had one and it was juice and vodka. We had multiple minor issues that were eventually fixed but the staff (although friendly) had no idea what they were doing and need some training for the level of service you expect out of a $800/night resort. The restaurant and main pool area was quiet and strange. Had no vibe just wasn't a place you felt like spending much time. Dinner from the restaurant was expensive, tiny and average to terrible. Breakfast was just OK. The first night we had a leak in our room - they offered to move us but the kids were already asleep so just mopped it up with towel. The second night it rained a lot harder and several other leaks showed up - some over the bed which meant we had to change rooms. The leaks aren't new you can tell by the state of the ceiling so they need to be fixed before you charge people to stay in there.
