Located close by train station and short walking distance from the beach

I’ve contacted the property about travelling with my dog but didn’t get a reply. When I arrived there the charged me £25 and never received a receipt.

I booked on a budget. Then they still charged me 25 quid for the pet! At 90 quid I could get a better place. Really not a nice atmosphere/clientele. Felt gross and loud.

The rooms were clean, but the shower/toilet is terrible there was no water, nor in the rooms. Super noisy and there was a dodgy dude in the room near us listening to loud music literally till after we left the next morning. It also says pet friendly, but then they make you pay an additional 25 pound on arrival, for that price, you can get a MUCH BETTER PLACE!

Without exaggeration, Shakers Inn was the worst accommodation I have ever booked. Even one star feels generous. I cannot understand the relatively high rating, nor why this inn is even listed on reputable platforms like Booking.com. The photos do show a pub on the ground floor, but they don’t reveal the extremely loud music blasting until 1 a.m. or the highly questionable clientele it attracts. Without noise-cancelling headphones, getting any rest—let alone sleep—would have been impossible. From our room, we had to listen to shouting, urinating, vomiting, and arguments in the street right outside until the early hours. If you value your car, do not park anywhere near this place. To be fair, the lady at the counter was polite, and the room itself was acceptable. However, that in no way makes up for the overall experience. Also worth noting: ten rooms share a single communal bathroom. We booked here only because it was the last available accommodation near the ferry. In hindsight, a night in the car would have been more restful. We paid around €60 for the night without breakfast, while last-minute guests booking the same evening would have been charged €196 for the same room. Conclusion: Never again.

It was really good. Had to spend a night in Harwich (with my dog) before taking morning ferry over to Netherlands and they accept dogs. The place was really really clean. And even though it’s above a bar, it wasn’t loud. I slept really well and even my dog slept really well (who’s a bit anxious normally with any sounds!) if you’re passing through Harwich and need somewhere to stay, definitely recommend. It definitely exceeded my expectations. The staff is also amazing and really friendly.

Location; fact that it was an old building in an ancient title town

It was extraordinarily noisy with terrible music being broadcast just below our bedroom, and staff rejected the idea of changing rooms; bedroom very, very hot and we were handed only a tiny fan falling apart, with sticky tape not succeeding in holding it together; no breakfast offered; very noisy clientele; shared bathroom shared with the whole floor of rooms.

Veryl oud booming music till 12 o clock at night, I know it is a pub downstairs but found the noise kept me awake.
