Hotel l'Abeille is an amazing and rare find for us as seasoned international travelers. It checks all the boxes for quiet, comfort, location (5 minutes to train station), friendly staff, and exceptional breakfast. But the outstanding and authentic furnishings and decoration take it to another level. The rooftop garden is the icing on the cake. Then consider the connection to CDG airport: taxi (or RERB and a walk along the Seine) to Austerlitz train station then a direct hour and a half train ride to Orleans. Orleans is just the right size, not too big or too small. We intend to route all trips to western France through a several day stay at l'Abeille. Stair warning: no lift, and SERIOUS stairs. Staff does help with bags.

The room furnishings were very attractive.

I liked convenient location, 5 min walk from the train station, or the shopping center. Also it is in the area where there is everything… shopping, restaurants, pharmacy… you name it. I liked the unique decor, taking you back couple of centuries. Absolutely amazing, helpful staff, no matter the shift, speaking a very good English The cleaning lady, Maria, so sweet and polite. I often travel to Orleans and will stay there again.
It’s not their fault for not having an elevator. It’s an old building with lots of unique character. So the elevator would ruin its charm. If you absolutely need one, then probably you may not like very much that there is no elevator.

Old style hotel with a lot of caracter. Although no elevator, we like the room wery much!
No elevator, so living on the third floor was ok but not more.

I loved everything about this very special hotel. Particular thanks to Alexandre on reception, for her great kindness when I had a problem.
Please check if Room 309 needs a fire escape ladder.

Lovely old world feel. Excellent room with its own lobby, ensuite shower room, separate toilet, and balcony. Dog friendly.
What is there not to like. We were lucky with parking on the same street, but there are parking options nearby.

I like this hotel, and, despite my comments below, really enjoyed staying there.
Very convenient for the railway station; though don't expect to find your way easily out of the station. Signposting is terrible; but that's the fault of SNCF and the City of Orléans, not the hotel.
The décor is lovely and slightly wacky without feeling pretentious. (Almost) everything feels very warm and comfortable. Staff were lovely. I particularly appreciated the fact that when I asked for the music to be turned off at breakfast, they didn’t even hesitate before saying: “of course”. I have known hotels where the question of music in the dining room has turned into a fight. (Though this does slightly beg the question: why have it in the first place? Music in hotels and restaurants is one of my bugbears.)
Breakfast itself was very good indeed: quite apart from anything else it was good to have coffee in a jug, rather than having to fight with one of those machines. I was offered freshly cooked eggs, though didn't personally feel in the mood that morning.
The room was large and comfortable, with windows that opened wide, and a good sized bathroom. Initially I didn't think there was much storage space. Then discovered a frighteningly large wardrobe in the bathroom.
There is no lift (and they do make that very clear on the website) but the staff did offer to carry my luggage for me.
Also, an important detail, very good communication in advance of my stay.
These are largely details. As I have already said, I really enjoyed staying here.
The dining room. Excellent breakfast, but some seriously uncomfortable chairs. If you’re staying here, I recommend hunting around if you don’t want a chair back which risks turning into an instrument of torture. This is the one fairly serious complaint that I have.
Bathroom. In my room lighting was a bit odd. No light switch; the light – full on and very bright - works on a motion sensor activated the moment I opened the door; awkward if you get up in the middle of the night and don’t want to disturb a fellow sleeper. My particular room had no proper shower, just a shell that goes round one end of the bath, and is meant to prevent water escaping when using the hand held shower attachment. The gap under this shell is far too wide. If I’d been there for more than one night I would probably have learnt not to flood the floor. As it was I needed all of the towels in order to mop up. Looking at the photos on the website, I think this might be the only shower of this type.
Oh, and one very minor detail: expect to have to put up quite a fight with the front door when first arriving with you luggage. A staff member did come out very promptly to help me in when he saw me struggling.

Close to Orelans train station. The room was a good size as was the bathroom. Room was clean. The staff were friendly and helpful.
The stairs are challenging with luggage.

We loves the oldie-worldie decor, the charm of the building and antiquities, the roof terrace, the central location and the juliette balcony.
The staircase to the third floor was a bit challenging, creaky floorboards and there was a little bit of black mould starting in the shower that the cleaning team need to get on top of and treat before it gets worse.

Parking was tricky although we fell lucky in the end to park on the same street

Original and fun boutique hotel with lots of attractive features. Roof terrace was a peaceful, green spot to sit in with view to cathedral.
Nothing- there are a lot of stairs which may not suit some people, but the hotel are careful to make sure you are aware of this when booking.

Good location. Quirky and period decor. Good breakfast.
No tea and coffee facilities in the room. Bathroom light was annoying as it came on automatically and stayed on for ages in the middle of the night. Should have a manual option. NB no lift and steep stairs.

The hotel has a very quaint charm, it is neither a cookie cutter modern chain, nor an old musty place. It reminded me of the late eighties Phillip Stark New York boutique hotels, but without the drama. The furniture, the wall coverings, the interesting room layouts, the staff and the location were all wonderful.
The bathroom was very clean and freshly redecorated, but I would have prefered a shower to the boot bathtub. Also, there is no elevator, the reservation confirmation mentioned it so we came with a small overnight bag. Still, for some people that could be a serious issue.

The hotel is packed full of character and in the heart of Orleans, close to restaurants, bars and the historic centre.
It is very tricky to get to the hotel by car to drop off your luggage due to the town’s one-way systems and tram routes. Now we have done it once we would be less confused but it was rather challenging first time around! Getting your car to the paid overnight parking is also a bit of a pain because of the road system, but the parking is very secure and only five mins walk. That said, it is also a bonus to be staying in the heart of Orleans.

Lovely old hotel in a great location. Friendly staff and good size rooms
The lack of lift is an issue when your room is at the top. Not having a proper bar is a shame as well.

This was our second visit to the Hôtel de l'Abeille and once again it was perfect. We had a fantastic room, staff were absolutely brilliant and this time we managed to have the breakfast in the morning which was as delicious as we expected it to be!

Staff is very friendly and helpful. It is old fashion hotel with lots of history. Breakfasts were lovely.
Hairdryer - it is very poor quality, it takes ages to dry hair - I suggest this equipment should be replaced with something better.
