A hotel with history. Shame the refurb doesn’t honour the aesthetics of the Maw family who lived here. You can see their unique tile design on the hotel staircase, but it doesn’t go with the 80s Best Western aesthetic. Maybe the next refurb will honour the beautiful aesthetic standards established through the Arts and Crafts movement. The eggs at breakfast were great, even if the staff were keen to pack away before 10am. The room was basic but clean and with a bath. Staff were generally very kind. I got upgraded from my single room, which I appreciated.
