The Malthouse

The location is beautiful over looking the river. The rooms have everything you need ie hairdryer, iron and ironing board.

Reception staff, very abrupt. Our room was freezing on entering, no heating on the room. The hallway was lovely and warm. Asked at reception and was told it was the room hadn't been used for a while. Was then moved to another room which did eventually get warm. Eat at the restaurant the food was ok. Attached the hotel is a cocktail bar which had live music playing. Which was situated below our room . So our nice relaxing was ruined by this . I think this should be disclosed. So we had very little sleep. Bed was comfy. Hair in shower.

Very comfortable bed. Great shower. Food excellent. Convenient for a day in Telford.

Parking is a bit of an issue here but managed to get a space in the sister pub car park this time.

The staff were nice and it's a good location. I also liked the waffle breakfast.

The room was tiny and freezing cold. The TV didn't work very well. The bed was way too small. Very few plug sockets. It wasn't very clear that our bathroom was a separate room to the bedroom, we had to pass by other rooms and the lock didn't work. The walls were very thin and the wooden floor cold and noisy. No bottled water or water in the kettle and no sink in the room. No fridge and only a very basic hangers on a hook for clothes. No storage. It also isn't very clear that there is no parking and that all parking that is available is restricted. Charging an extra amount for breakfast to be included but then charging £3 extra for the most popular dish (full English breakfast) is very cheeky.

Good food cooked well. Welcoming staff who answer any questions regarding parking etc. The Malthouse doesn't have it's own parking but there is a car park 300 yards up the road free until 9am. If it's quiet you can park for free at their sister pub which has a small car park. Great location, only a few mins from the main museums. Very comfortable room. I stayed in the annexe on this visit and it was very peaceful.

The room was cold on arrival because I needed to turn on the heaters... but it heated up after about an hour and was then very comfortable.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Style of the hotel was quaint an boutique and it was well maintained. Breakfast was included and very good. Cocktails in the bar were good well made.

Mattress on the bed was soft and we ended up rolling into the middle overnight. The bathroom was small and a little tired, although shower was very good.

Stayed in the ‘superior suite’. Room could benefit from a makeover. Smell of damp on arrival. Not particularly clean throughout including the bathroom. Biggest issue was terribly uncomfortable bed, spring base and poor mattress. Couldn’t get comfortable. Unfortunately disappointing for a ‘superior suite’ 😔

Needs to decide if it's a hotel or a music venue. Unfortunately, the two don't mix. The base from the band downstairs in the bar was so loud that it caused items to fall off the dressing table. Appreciate that the band stopped before midnight, but our room may as well have been in the bar. The tap in the sink screams when used and the TV didn't work as the signal keeps dropping out It's a shame as without the noise from below I think it would be excellent value

Breakfast was not included which I wasn’t happy about there was a glass door in my room which was very dirty it was covered up with a curtain.

Close proximity to attractions

Unfortunately, our room ( the attic) was above the entertainment. The only way we could get to sleep was to put the floor fan on to try and drown out some of the noise. Looked like the bathroom was newly refurbishe. It could do with a toilet roll holder and a unit to put things on as there wasn't much room around the sink area. These couple of additions would make a big difference.

The real ale in the bar was nice

There was no plug in the bathroom basin - the shower was boiling hot - with no adjustment (too hot too use). The steak in the evening had a lot of gristle , small mushroom & tomatoe & it wasn't cheap ! Breakfast was passable apart from the sausage which had seen better days - was tough & wrinkly - needless to say i left it ! As I was only staying one night - I didn't bother to complain.

We arrived very late on Saturday. There was a live Rock band playing (very well!). Our room was actually vibrating with the sound. All finished by 1pm so wasn't a problem for us but we couldn't sleep until it stopped! Only car parking was at the Swan pub down the road. It worked for us but there wasn't a lot of space!

The Room given. Was not what i booked at all. Very angry ! Supposed to be an ensuite superior in the hotel. But what i have read on views , makes me think i had a lucky espace . . Instead given a what seems like a ground floor back room storage room in a tall out building next door . Not in the hotel . Had to walk to it . On entering . , Paint peeling off the walls . Mould musky smell . Very dull room , dirty mouldy shower, in the grout and shower head . No bath . Paint peeling of the shower base ,mouldy dirty. Awful decor, pink basic curtain. Animal print sofa , i would not sit on did not look clean. Basic metal furniture, pink old side lamps , all just put in place , no thought of design or placement . No taste of superior at all. !!! Bed not maded properly , holes in the sheets , mattress very sofa and worn. Pillows dirty under the pillow cases . , sick stains on them . So never used them . Carpet ,dull dirty looking grey . Am very angry indeed . I eould not put my family in there if owned this property. Would be too ashamed . Needs a massive decoration . New paint . Furniture to bring it up to superior strandard . . Just basic room . More like a hostel room . Went and complained . But no other rooms available , asked for my money back , a refund , told i had to go to booking .com and complain . Nothing could be done right then . . So i said i want compensation a free meal .but , . Not greed . Only starters , .not happy , felt stuck in ahole . No one listening or caring . Just excuses . Finally agreed on a 2 x breakfasts. My partner and i. I went next door to the swan pub who owner that as well . No rooms available . I asked again for compensation, explained my situation. . They stuck with the free breakfasts . I will never go back to that hotel .!! . Steer very clear .!!! Only took the free breakfast as i knew i would not get anywhere with my money back. . . Trying to add more photos of bathroom and sofa , can not seem to add theses.

The area itself was lovely. I would recommend the restaurant. The food was nice and reasonably prized.

The hotel/room - the experience was far from what I expected! The environment was completely unsuitable for families. This is not a place I would recommend for anyone seeking a peaceful stay, especially with children. I paid for two nights but left after one because the conditions were simply unacceptable. Live music continued past midnight, making it impossible to rest. Neighbouring guests were shouting, slamming doors and engaging in inappropriate behaviours.

The manager was very helpful, indeed all of the staff were very good. The breakfast was fine, however, the dinner of the previous evening had been seriously over salted (the veg), but the pie was excellent, the room suited me perfectly, and the location was excellent.

As previously stated; overall, very good.

Nothing as never stayed too disappointed with the room it was damp smelly and definitely not 4 star no curtains on the door not for for our needs or purpose

The rooms are good and mostly of a decent size .my en suite was a little cramped but had an excellent shower unit. The breakfast was an excellent cooked breakfast but there were continental options .The food in the evening was superb well above standard pub fayre . The first night I had 8oz rump and fries this was excellent @£20 and the second night I had sausages (3 lovely butcher’s sausages) and mash @£15 and again this was superb. The Proper Job IPA beer was excellent .I will be returning to stay soon.

Not much to be honest ,some guests may not enthused about the bedrooms but I was very comfortable and slept like a log.Perhaps it was the IPA?😂

Dust and cobwebs in every corner, every surface, basically everywhere, stains on carpet, debris on floors, outside path slippery, The plug hole backed up in shower from waste. Smells like sewage. Made me feel ill.

The location was very good, just about 5 minutes walk from the centre of Ironbridge.

I asked for a quiet room and noted that there was live music at the weekend but nothing during the week. However, there was a pub quiz on in the bar which was right below us on one of our nights and the noise was indescribable. It did finish when the duty manager said it would (around 8.30) but by that time I was so stressed by the noise, I couldn't think straight. Daily housekeeping seems to involve replacing the used teabags and milk and that is all! Most important THERE IS NO PARKING. It may say that somewhere on the website - I clearly didn't look hard enough. We parked at the sister pub a little bit up the street but it's a very small carpark and I could see it could get full very quicky. Joe, who works in head office was there on our last day. He listened to my concerns , was lovely and totally understood why we had a problem. That was the best part of the stay :) Thank you, Joe.
